"I visited Benedictine Living Community of St. Peter. It was nice and clean. They were friendly. The location was a little bit out of the way. I didn’t get a chance to see the rooms, but from what I saw, I liked it. "

"Comfort First was close to my place and seemed friendly, small, and very clean. The dining area looked very nice, but they didn't have a lot of staff. I think they needed more staff as I couldn't find anybody. "

"Vista Prairie at Monarch Meadows is a very nice place amongst those we've visited. There's some difficulty in contacting the business office there, I've called twice now to talk to the manager and she still hasn't gotten back to me for more than a week now. The two rooms that I viewed were under some kind of maintenance. The people that were there seemed very nice, they answered my questions. It was nice all the way around, including the furniture, it was a spacious and beautiful place."

"New Perspective in Mankato was gorgeous and the staff was really friendly. The dining hall was beautiful and the food looked really good. It was the best one among those I have seen, but it was just too far away. They have a library, a barber shop area, a movie theater, and a happy hour area."

"My mom was at a memorycare facility in Mankato for several years before having to be hosiptalized. In the process we were told by the E.R. Physician that Mom had a skin breakdown due to poor hygiene. He recommended and we decided we needed to find another facility. Near the end of Mom's hospital stay we were introduced to Oak Terrace, Autumn Lane Memorycare, initially via phone conversation and then a personal visit from Nurse Manager at the hospital. Since that day last summer Mom has had an amazing recovery. The transition from her previous facility to Oak Terrace, in all respects, has been like night and day. I can't say enough to express the gratitude our family feels toward the professional, caring and involved staff at Oak Terrace"

"My mom moved into The Pillars of Mankato Senior Living. The facility is all new, so it's all in beautiful shape. The staff members were really friendly. They get to know everybody's name right away, including caregivers. They've been excellent to deal with so far. I've looked at their menu, and it looked like it's good meals. I know that they've got a book club, gatherings on Sunday to watch Vikings, and outings almost every day for the residents. They bring in musical acts on Thursday afternoon. So there's a whole variety of things that they've got. She has a nice room. She's got a bedroom, a living room, a kitchen, own bath, and laundry facilities are in there. It seems expensive, but they're probably in line with everybody else in Mankato. So far, I'm very pleased with them."

"Right now, I am in Water's Edge and it is brand new. To be honest, I am the first elder to move in. It is one of the smaller units where you are more of a family than you are a number. They are still working on the floor right above us. The staff is awesome. They work so hard to help me come in here because I don't have relatives in this particular area. The whole experience here is very unique and the girls here are very wonderful. It is nice to have people in our own age group who you can relate to, and we are getting to know each other. The rooms are big and they look over a pond. The other part here overlooks the grassy area near the pond. We can see big wild turkey and baby geese. My son says that when he goes home from work and when he comes by here, there are always deer in this park area and there are always birds out here, so it is really fun. "

"Laurel's Edge Assisted Living was a very good place. They had activities for the residents like exercises, swimming, card games, and puzzles. They had good amenities and the staff was very cordial, very accommodating, and very proactive on calling and following up."

"We went to look at Crystal Seasons Assisted Living. It ended up being a very good visit. We looked at physical therapy and all of those kinds of things. It was an excellent facility. They have lots of different things to do. We met with an activities director, facilities director, and one of the service people to see how we could accommodate the room should we need to. All the way around, it was very helpful."

"My husband is at The Beacon at Lake Crystal. We chose it for him because it has memory care, and he has dementia. They took very good care of him. It took a while, but they got him settled in. They are all so great with him. They've been losing a lot of aides lately, but it's a very nice and clean place. It also has a good cook. His living space is just one room. It does have a bathroom in it with a stool and a sink. It also has a closet. They have cable for TV, or you can connect to their internet. It's roomy, too. There have been times that I've gone there and it's kind of messy, but it's not really dirty. They washed his clothes, but they didn't put them away. They just stacked them on his chair or something. A lot of the aides are student aides, so they're still learning, too. They're all pretty good girls, but they didn't try to connect with people. They were just there to do a job, and that was it. It's getting a little spendy now with us doing hospice and then bumping him up to a level 9. The caretaking part is expensive, but the rental is reasonable. They have an activities person who comes in Monday through Friday. She gets them to play games, and she does bingo twice a week. They do chair exercises at least once a month, too, so she keeps them busy. On nice days, they'll take a bunch of the residents outside just for a little walk around to get some fresh air. They have a TV area as well, where people can sit and watch something, although most people also have TVs in their rooms. She takes them out sometimes for outings. They go out for lunch, and we give her enough money depending on what they spend. Some rooms have a tub and a shower in the bathrooms. There are shared rooms in some areas but they each have their own bedroom with the dining room area and kitchen in the center with a TV. I've eaten there a couple of times. He gets a pretty good variety because they make sure they get meat, potatoes, and a vegetable. They had good care overall."
