"I did a tour of Fountaingrove Lodge, and it had everything I could want and more. It was top of the line. The apartments were spectacular. The staff was friendly and extensive. I think the staff was almost two-to-one; one staff to two clients. They had dogs, art rooms, and they had a garden place if you wanted to garden. They have a movie theater. They fed us lunch, and it was spectacular. It was just like eating in a restaurant. It was outstanding. They have a separate bar that has snacks and you can go to that instead of going to dinner. The person who led us was very good, and very helpful without being pushy at all. He was just trying to give us good information. The food, I would call it excellent. A lot of variety, a menu to choose from, and good service staff. They had every conceivable amenity and activity. They had a game room, and a pool room, and a separate card room. The facilities themselves are beautiful. On one side, you look out on a vista over the city, and on the other side, you look out on the golf course. It's just beautiful."

"I toured The Lodge at Piner Road. They were very organized. They had a very good sense of community there. They had by far the best-looking units of the three places that we looked at. The high ceilings really helped give it a sense of good space. It's a very good facility. The staff was very positive and very professional, too."

"My husband has moved into Villa Capri. The atmosphere is very quiet, calm, and clean. There's a lot of staff for the residents. I like the location. It just seemed very organized and the people love working there. They have been so helpful because there were times when I didn't know what to do. They were professional, kind, and caring. The food is very good. It's laid out well. He's on the first floor. It has a nice atmosphere. They told me they have all kinds of activities. They were doing bingo. They had a guy come in to talk about hot air balloons. They do TV aerobics. The size of the room is pretty good."

"My dad liked Brookdale Paulin Creek a lot. The staff and the residents were all very friendly and welcoming. The tour was nice. The lady, Miro, was very, very kind, very thorough, and answered all of the questions. My parents were able to sit down and sample a meal and they were both very happy with the meal and the selection of food available. I, and the health aide that was with us, ate as well and everybody loved the food. The rooms were pretty large."

"I liked the location of Brookdale Chanate. I liked the staff. The people were very, very professional, kind, and compassionate. I was very, very impressed. The facilities were clean, and it was very quiet. At first, I was going to pick Brookdale Chanate because of the location, but I decided to go with the other place because it had more lighting and it was brighter. Brookdale Chanate is in amongst the redwoods, so it's darker, and the view out of the room was just a big redwood tree, but it was nice. I was impressed with the size and layout of the rooms, even the shared rooms. They were good-sized rooms."

She is knowledgeable, caring, accommodating, and even went the extra mile in getting paperwork handled for my Mom. "We had been visiting some other facilities around the region as options for our aunt.We were glad and impressed that we didn't need an appointment to take a tour of the facility. The staff was welcoming and seemed to really like their jobs. That's really important to us, since my aunt's family is scattered around the U.S. which means some of us we won't be able to visit as much as wed like to.The outside grounds were nicely kept, with plenty of seating areas. Residents are encouraged to walk around regularly as they desire and supervision is always available.The indoors were impressive, with a nice library area and a large room for other activities, like board games and computers. There are other areas where residents may read, sit with friends or just relax.The film collection looked interesting and they regularly go to local movie houses sometimes venturing to the city to see foreign and independent films, which are our aunt's favorites.The facility and staff are equipped to handle our aunts early Alzheimer's so that was a relief for us. Our aunt really enjoys getting out and their list of activities included everything from local shopping, beauty salon and entertainment trips to special events held at their facility and others.We liked the exercise room where they had yoga mats and machines. They also have scheduled classes for those who are interested. We happened to be there when they were offering snacks.The private living spaces featured beautiful nice windows. Each unit was fresh, airy and peaceful, with a calming, color-coordinated decor and comfortable furnishings.The residents here looked very content in their living environment and were well cared for by kind and considerate staff. "

"Dolly's Manor is very good. They’re taking very good care of my husband. They seem to be very devoted to who they take care of. They’re very good. All the girls take good care of him. Dolly is an R.N. so she can give the medications. She keeps a close eye on them. Her husband does the business portion and helps with transportation. It is board and care. "

"The team at Our Golden Years has been absolutely amazing with my Dad, who has a lot of needs. When we brought our Dad to this place, we intended to start hospice (per the hospital's suggestion) because he was doing so poorly and with the care he has received at OGY, he has improved immensely, both physically and cognitively. They have taken such good care of him, as if he were part of their own family. My sister and I have finally been able to relax knowing that he is in such goods hands. I'm amazed at his recovery and I think it has everything to do with being at Our Golden Years in Windsor. Also, the facility feels like home and it is immaculately clean. I 100% recommend this haven. "

"Shiloh Green Manor would have been the most affordable place for us. It was a house but it was clean. The only problem was my mom wouldn't have been able to have her dog there. Regardless, she would have liked it there. It was sunny, cheerful, and very clean. When I visited there were two women at the table listening to music and talking with each other. The woman who was running it seemed to have a lot of experience. It was a totally different type of place, and for what it was, it was great. It would have been adequate for my mom. The staff was very knowledgeable and helpful. They gave me some paperwork that I would have to do; I liked them."

"I know Mirabel Lodge well, and it's just a wonderful place. This facility is in a rural area called Forestville, about 15 miles from Santa Rosa, and is beautiful. It's well kept. They've recently done some upgrading and it looks nice. They have a nice outdoor area where residents and their families can walk around. Unlike a lot of places, it's not depressing. It's very lively. They have a lot of musicians come in, and they have scheduled activities. Even though their residents are very low-functioning, they meet them at their level and keep them engaged. Not many facilities do that "“ at least not to that degree. The food is great, too. The staff are just fabulous -- very attentive and very caring. The owner and the manager know and love the residents there.-- they go around and spend time with each resident. It's not uncommon to go in and find the owners dancing with the residents or otherwise engaging with them. It's wonderful to see. This facility caters to people with severe-stage dementia. If you have a loved one who's confused but still pretty high-functioning, I wouldn't put them there. But I'd recommend them to anyone with a loved one who has advanced dementia. They work well with hospice, too. I'd put my family member there."

"The staff were fantastic during my visit. They invited mom, and I for lunch together with the residents. Mom really enjoyed it. They were very positive, and they welcomed her. That made her very happy. You can bring in your own furniture into your room. I know one lady brought her own piano because it meant so much to her. For me, that was really great. The entire facility was very well done. In fact, all residents seemed to be very happy. "

"My mother has been at Carriage House for two months now. It is a very nice accommodation. It is half a mile to my mother's church, which makes it convenient for us getting there and for the people from our church visiting her. The owner lady is wonderful. The staff members are very good. They're prompt and courteous. They stick to all the regulations that the State of California imposes upon them. We like it. It is nice. They play bingo every other week on Fridays. They take my mom for a walk every day. One of their caregivers goes with her outside the building. They have crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, and TV. They also have what they referred to as a library. Their rooms are all private rooms. My mom's room has a semi-private bathroom."
