Ukiah is a small city approximately two hours north from San Francisco. Approximately 16,000 individuals call the city home with 15% ages 65 and older. Retirees have access to quality healthcare and there are plenty of sunny days that make it easy to get out and explore the various vineyards, the Montgomery Woods State Reserve and the Grace Hudson Museum.

Assisted living communities are designed to give seniors personalized care in an organized setting. Seniors who choose assisted living need help with daily living tasks, including dressing, grooming and bathing, but are independent enough they don’t require round-the-clock care that a nursing home provides. Assisted living communities in Ukiah cost around $6,000 per month, which is about $1,000 a month lower than the average city in the state.

This guide provides an overview of the different types of care that are offered for those looking for long-term care. It also offers a guide to programs and services coordinated for seniors in the area.
