"So far, Olive City Care Home has been very good. My mom is well taken care of and the staff is friendly and helpful. She is having a little trouble adjusting to the fact that the people there are worse off than her. She fell and hit her head, so she was having a lot of difficulty, but now she's kind of snapping out of it. She's been independent, so she's having a hard time adjusting to assisted living. They offered to take her to church services every week. They have picnics and birthday parties there too. They really try hard to keep the residents entertained. They have karaoke nights and they do puzzles and games. When it gets nicer and the smoke goes away, they have gardening and stuff. They have quite a bit to offer. It's just that she's a little bit more independent. We just thought she needed more assistance now because of her head injury, but it's starting to get better. She's anxious to come back and move into her apartment again. No complaints about the food. They always seem to have snacks for them and everything. It all seems to be working very well. The place looks like it's kept up and everything seems to be in working order. It's a small facility, a house that they renovated from all the rooms to the bathrooms and stuff. It's an older home, but it's well-built and well-maintained. We looked around and it was a good deal for the money. My problem is I think assisted living is way overpriced anyway for the people that need it. There should be some kind of help. My mom is 98, so she's outlived all her funds and financing. She's not in the position where she actually can afford to live there."

"So far, Panama House has been fine. It's a small community that only houses 6 people, and so far it's very good. The girls there are very friendly and doing their job like they're supposed to. My parents have a double room with their own restroom and shower. The menu looks fairly healthy, and they took my father out for a Father's Day barbeque."

"Pleasant Place is a private home. There are only four other clients. My mother is the only mobile one, and she's still very active. It's just that her memory and her thought process are gone. They walk during the day. They go on a field trip once a week to restaurants. It's a smaller group, it's more private, and we just liked the couple running it. It felt very comfortable. They stay in contact with us because we're out of town sending pictures and telling us whenever they talk to the doctor or whenever we need to do something with them. It's been a great experience. She's comfortable there, trying to settle down, and we hate to move her. We've been very happy. The staff is excellent. They have tea parties and snacks. It's just a very caring place. They have a lot of activities. She's always moving and always talking, and this just seems to work for her. She likes the socialness of the ladies that are with her. Things are going well."

"My mother went to live at The Courtyard at Little Chico Creek. We like it a lot. The congregate areas are always clean, neat, and well-kept. The staff is caring and responsive. My mom feels very safe. Her room is very cute. They're very flexible. It's got nice light. She just feels very comfortable there. The food is very good. I haven't seen anything that raises any concerns at all. She's lived there for a couple of months now. The food is not perfect, but it's good. They do a good job, and they cater to mom's preference. It's always very, very clean. Mom won't go out of her room and participate in anything right now, but it looks like they've got things going on. It was expensive, and it would be lovely if it wasn't this expensive."

"Almond Blossom East - 1 Budlee Court was very homey. It felt like someone's house with the big living room. I liked that there were only six residents. My mother would have been the sixth, if she had moved in. They all eat together at a round table. They had a big kitchen, a dining room, a living room, the bedrooms, and the bathrooms. It all looked really good. It looked very clean, and there was a nice outdoor area. They had the bathroom close to each bedroom. It looked really nice. The hallways were small, so there was not a lot of room for people with walkers and such. They said that they have activities. It seemed like they might have more staff to residents there. There were three or four staff members while I was there. It was a nice and new home. You had to bring your own furniture, which was difficult to me."
