"So far, Panama House has been fine. It's a small community that only houses 6 people, and so far it's very good. The girls there are very friendly and doing their job like they're supposed to. My parents have a double room with their own restroom and shower. The menu looks fairly healthy, and they took my father out for a Father's Day barbeque."

"Almond Blossom East - 1 Budlee Court was very homey. It felt like someone's house with the big living room. I liked that there were only six residents. My mother would have been the sixth, if she had moved in. They all eat together at a round table. They had a big kitchen, a dining room, a living room, the bedrooms, and the bathrooms. It all looked really good. It looked very clean, and there was a nice outdoor area. They had the bathroom close to each bedroom. It looked really nice. The hallways were small, so there was not a lot of room for people with walkers and such. They said that they have activities. It seemed like they might have more staff to residents there. There were three or four staff members while I was there. It was a nice and new home. You had to bring your own furniture, which was difficult to me."

"The facility was a good one. It was clean and well kept. The people at the facility seemed happy. The facility had rooms for each of them, and they served food in the dining area. They kept it clean and made sure that each person there got what they need. The location was pretty good and pretty. It was pretty easy for us to get to the place as it was in town, and they let you come whenever you wanted to. My grandmother developed some good relationships with some of the men there. That was pretty amazing, since she wasn't the social type. The facility only took people who could live pretty well without specialized care, like they had to be able to take care of themselves pretty well, such as being able to eat, take their medication when reminded and eat at a table. Unfortunately, my grandmother started having trouble controlling her body, and she didn't have control of her bowels, so she had to leave. Overall it was a good facility. I've heard of some real horror stories about people staying in assisted living facilities. "

"My mother was cared for at Sunshine Cottage for almost 4 years. During her stay, the staff were caring and supportive to mom, as well as the family. The facility was decorated festively for each holiday season and the activities were engaging, for all levels of care. The food variety and quality were exceptional. The rooms were personal and any issues were addressed quickly. During this time staff became like our second family, were approachable to discuss any concerns and were amazing! Having almost 10 years of experience working in the field of elder care, I was very comfortable leaving mom in the care of Sunshine Cottage!"

"WestHaven Assisted Living was a nice, well-laid-out place. What I liked about the place was that it was clean and spacious. I felt that it was a comfortable place because it was not crowded. They had small rooms which provided privacy for their resident. The staff was very nice and friendly. I was able to eat there, and it was good. "

"My brother is living in Always Loving Care. The general appearance is very good as far as the cleanliness inside. As far as the general layout, it's actually a home converted into individual rooms that they've set up for the individuals. The staff does anything that is necessary to make the residents' stay comfortable there. They make sure they have the correct medicines, they give them on time, and they feed them three meals a day. They're very polite. Apparently, the food is good because they're all gaining weight. It looked delicious. They have a supply of books for them to read, TV for them to watch, transport to and from the doctor, and they take them shopping. They don't have any actual outings that they go on."

"It was beautiful. The people and everyone that was there seemed happy and comfortable. We liked their rooms. The garden area was relaxing. We looked at their activity board, and we liked their activities. We thought it was comforting for my mother if this were the place we would go. The staff was very pleasant, thorough, and answered all our questions. They have different areas for family gatherings."

"So far, Olive City Care Home has been very good. My mom is well taken care of and the staff is friendly and helpful. She is having a little trouble adjusting to the fact that the people there are worse off than her. She fell and hit her head, so she was having a lot of difficulty, but now she's kind of snapping out of it. She's been independent, so she's having a hard time adjusting to assisted living. They offered to take her to church services every week. They have picnics and birthday parties there too. They really try hard to keep the residents entertained. They have karaoke nights and they do puzzles and games. When it gets nicer and the smoke goes away, they have gardening and stuff. They have quite a bit to offer. It's just that she's a little bit more independent. We just thought she needed more assistance now because of her head injury, but it's starting to get better. She's anxious to come back and move into her apartment again. No complaints about the food. They always seem to have snacks for them and everything. It all seems to be working very well. The place looks like it's kept up and everything seems to be in working order. It's a small facility, a house that they renovated from all the rooms to the bathrooms and stuff. It's an older home, but it's well-built and well-maintained. We looked around and it was a good deal for the money. My problem is I think assisted living is way overpriced anyway for the people that need it. There should be some kind of help. My mom is 98, so she's outlived all her funds and financing. She's not in the position where she actually can afford to live there."

"Pleasant Place is a private home. There are only four other clients. My mother is the only mobile one, and she's still very active. It's just that her memory and her thought process are gone. They walk during the day. They go on a field trip once a week to restaurants. It's a smaller group, it's more private, and we just liked the couple running it. It felt very comfortable. They stay in contact with us because we're out of town sending pictures and telling us whenever they talk to the doctor or whenever we need to do something with them. It's been a great experience. She's comfortable there, trying to settle down, and we hate to move her. We've been very happy. The staff is excellent. They have tea parties and snacks. It's just a very caring place. They have a lot of activities. She's always moving and always talking, and this just seems to work for her. She likes the socialness of the ladies that are with her. Things are going well."

"Iris Care Home is great. We live close, so it’s fine. It’s a small place with only six residents. They have a staff who really takes care of them, and we really like the owner. We liked the house. They have a regular dining table where they serve three home-cooked meals a day, and they really like the food. They watch TV and work with the staff sometimes, but they don’t have a lot of activities. It’s a locked down home. We’re really pleased with it. "

"My longest living grandmother was in an assisted living facility because she developed severe dementia. She was very well taken care of in this facility not only were the workers so sweet to help her feel as normal as possible (they would have her help with the cooking because they knew how much she loved it) but other people housed there who didn't need as much help were sweet to my grandmother too. Her roommate didn't have dementia, so she'd help grandma during the night when she'd get scared or forget where she was. My grandmother actually picked the facility herself before she was too far gone in her dementia, she liked it because it was sort of out of town and felt more like a "home" than a clinical space. "
