"My mother has lived in Independent living at Danberry for almost 2 years, and recently moved into their memory care unit. Danberry staff has been a godsend to me. They are very aware of their resident’s conditions and are so helpful when difficulties arise. I have nothing but good stuff to say about the entire staff. From food service to security to activities and reception, I have had caring feedback about my mom. They were very supportive and involved with my decision to increase my mother’s level of care. They have concierge physicians who are excellent and if you have any questions or concerns, Melissa is a delightful and effective resource with lots of ideas to help with whatever you need. I truly appreciate all that they do for my mom, and the peace of mind that they provide is nothing short of a blessing!!"

"I visited The Ridge at Grandview. I met with the lady responsible for providing the tour, and she explained everything to me, gave me a brochure, and we went through all the rooms. I see why it was called Grandview. It was grand. It was a step up from the other facility. It was very, very nice, and if I had to put my loved one there, and it was a fit, it would be a place like The Ridge at Grandview. They showed me the area where the patients socialize, watch TV, and play games. They showed a movie theater room. The rooms were exquisite. They started on a lower level, and they went up even higher. The facility was excellent, very immaculate, a very upscale place, and it was beautiful."

"St. Martin's In the Pines was very, very nice. The staff was extremely nice and welcoming. We just visited there, and they gave us a packet. We had a friend of ours that lived there. They showed us her apartment. It was super nice. All the amenities are within the building, and Mother would have never had to get out of the building. She has elevator access or she could use the stairs, but they prefer that most of them use the elevator to prevent falling. They have activities. They have independent assisted, and nursing home care. They have a studio apartment. We had a friend that was living there, so we went in and looked at the space. However, my mom preferred a 1-bedroom. She was going from my 3-bedroom house into a studio and it bothered her a little bit. She saw how much room that this friend of ours had and it was 490 square feet. The staff was great. The person that lived there has been there for quite some time, and she told us how amazing the staff was, and she wouldn't tell us that if they were not so."

"Asher Point Independent Living of Hoover is a nice facility. The manager who gave the tour was a nice man. He's also very helpful. They have a facility that is sort of a restaurant, and it's really nice. I think three meals a day are also included there. They have a refrigerator and a microwave in the apartment. However, I didn't like the fact that they didn't have a stove or anything like that, because I'm a pretty good cook. I can understand why they don't have those, though, because a lot of these people are elderly, and when they walk away from a stove for a minute, they burn up. Other than that, it's a very nice building and it's clean."

"I toured Monark Grove at Greystone. It was awesome. It was nice. The lady was nice. We had a good conversation. She showed me around every place and everything. We looked at some apartments. Everything is good. They have everything, a stove, a refrigerator, and all that stuff. The bedroom was fine. My main concern was having enough room for all my stuff because I have a lot of stuff, and the one I saw was big enough. They've got a patio with an outdoor grill. They also have an indoor pool. When I went by, I said, "Did anything go in there?", and she said, "No, it's a low-level pool, it's only so many feet, and it's not like the regular pool". So that was cool."

"My tour of The Crossings at Riverchase went well. The facility is only three years old, so it is very modern, and I like that. It was very clean. They had a pretty low turnover for the staff, at least up to that point. The staff who gave the tour was very knowledgeable. She has been in the business for a long time."

"Galleria Woods is impressive. I took the tour with Anne. I had more individual questions that I wanted to ask, and that's why I wanted to go back and speak to them, but it would be a wasted effort because there was no way I could afford their prices unless I got a loan. That doesn't seem practical for me, but the place was very nice, well-managed, and well-taken care of. They have a gym, a library, a salon, and everything you would expect. They're even going to be offering a movie theater. They also have a gazebo and lovely apartments. They took us through a two- bedroom and a one-bedroom that are both available. If I had my preference, I would snap up that two-bedroom apartment immediately. The staff was excellent and was super. Anne was thoughtful, informative, and caring. I think she would be a good person to interact with in getting more detailed information. She sent me a text message and said she would be willing to meet with me specifically one day next week. They're very good at what they do. They had an advertising luncheon and it was very, very good. We had filet mignon. It was very nice and it was delicious, but I doubt that represents the daily fare for a regular lunch menu. If we base it on the pricing of the community, it should be good."

"I visited the Gardens of Pelham. I was very impressed with it. It was very professional. I got a very good tour. They explained how everything worked. I was satisfied with the way it was set up. They showed me the rooms and the different levels of care they had, took me to the cafeteria, where the clients lived, and showed me how they provided different care for them. They explained to me about the social workers and the other medical personnel who came out for them while they were there. It was good. It just wasn't a good fit for my husband. The facility was pretty and looked homey. It looked like whoever would be there would enjoy it."

"My brother is a resident at Pleasant Villa, and couldn't be more pleased. It is exceptionally clean and just been refurbished, looks great. The owner and staff are so accommodating; they are very caring. If my brother needs to go to the doctor, etc. they are glad to take him. Excellent choice!"

"I thought Maplewood Lane Assisted Living was a very homey place. The staff that I met there were all very cordial. There's one lady that's been working there for 27 years and she was just as great as she could be. We had a very honest conversation about what would be required to get my friend in. It's an assisted living so the rules were a little different. It's able to handle folks in a wheelchair, push them for their showers, and even out the front door to sit in the sunshine on the porch. They have physical therapy 2 or 3 times a week, and a Bible study twice a week. It was just a very homey place and I had known somebody that had been there before and was happy there. It's small and homey and they said they work very hard to make it that way. The lady friend that I was trying to look for, still has issues in terms of her mobility like when going to the bathroom and that kind of stuff. The small room is really small, a little smaller than other folks' studio rooms, but the assistance they were saying they gave folks, in terms of bathing and showering, seemed right up to par with everybody else. The one who toured me around was the man that owns the place. He didn't have to show me around a lot because I've been there, in the room of the friend that used to be there. He didn't do a whole lot of showing around. He just showed me where the room was and showed me the difference between the smallest room and the next one. I had been in the larger one with my friend before, and of course, the price goes up with every increase in size. There were folks in the big kitchen, working on supper. There's a piano there and while I was talking to him, somebody came and played it, and that kind of brought all the other folks out. I think they only had two rooms empty, and they both were small. It would take a little getting used to, but it's all that my friend needs. The person who toured me also said that if one goes into a small room and a larger one becomes available, they automatically will switch that person up. It was clean and the layout is great because they have straight halls. The halls are also wooden so that even if you're in a wheelchair, you could navigate them easily. One side of the windows looks over a little lake so it's a nice surrounding. There's also a government building or something across the street, and they've got a nice front to it where folks could sit. They said they were going to be adding something on the back, a covered porch, or something like that."

"I moved my 92 year old uncle from his home of 60 years to Covenant Place last year. They took incredible care of him the year he was in their care. They provided his meals, cleaning, laundry, continence care, medications, etc. They even helped get him to his appointments when I was unable to leave work. So much of the caregiver burden was eased for me while he was in their care. The staff really goes above and beyond with care and compassion. The communication was always top notch as well. Not once did I ever feel left out of the loop. Their activities director, Jillian, is an absolute gem! I largely credit his happiness there to her and her efforts to encourage and include him. I cannot say enough positive things about our overall experience!"

"I went to Legacy Ridge Trussville and spoke with a gentleman there, and he was very helpful. I'm very impressed with the place. They have a large assisted living facility as well as memory care. My mom has dementia, and memory care was what I was looking for. The rooms were very well maintained. I think they were the right size because you don't need a really large room. They actually had their own bathroom in each room. The dining room was very nice. They had a lot of tables and chairs set up. They have an activity room also. They actually have a person who is in charge of the activities for the people in the memory care facility. They try to engage everybody as well as can be expected. The way I see it, they're striving really hard to be perfect. They were very friendly and very knowledgeable. To me, they had the knowledge and the desire to try to take care of the patients. They had plenty enough parking, I think, and it wasn't crowded."

"Mount Royal was excellent and gorgeous, but I could not afford it with my budget. The tour was good, though. The services and the staff were great."

"They had therapy twice a day at the Healthsouth Lakeshore, and it was top notch. They did not have other activities. We were just there for therapy so we can get better and go home. The therapists were all top notch. They really worked on getting people up and moving again. "
