"We chose to have my mother in Caritas House Assisted Living because she is a devout Catholic and they have all the services and support that she wants and needs. The staff is friendly, accommodating, informed, helpful, and thorough. She has a 320-square-foot room on a corner with two big windows, high ceilings, and a large bathroom. It's very nice. The food is fine. There's a variety offered every day and it's good. They also have snacks available pretty much throughout the day whenever she wants them. There are classes, programs, gatherings, and social events every day of the week except for the weekend. There is a virtual mass offered every day, as well as an in-person mass offered on Sundays. There's a large garden terrace area, large common areas with game tables, small libraries on each floor, and large televisions on each floor."

"My mother was a daycare member before COVID, and suffers from dementia. During the COVID isolation, she went downhill fast, due to isolation, and it was necessary to place her in an assisted living facility. She was very happy with the day program, so I figured the assisted living would be a good fit, and it has been. Her dementia progress has definitely slowed due to the activities they provide, she's put on the weight she'd lost during her isolation, and after an expected adjustment period, has been very happy there. Her room is smaller than at some of the facilities I've seen, but there is still plenty of space for her things (I believe more might be confusing to her), and there is a great deal of open area for socialization. The staff are attentive to her individual needs, and are as accommodating to the family when we come to visit or take her out as COVID restrictions allow. As a health care worker, I am very pleased with the strict guidelines they follow to keep the vulnerable residents healthy. As she cannot leave without an escort, for safety reasons, the facility provides a secure, beautiful garden courtyard where she can go on her own. This place might not be a perfect fit for some, but with my mother's dementia, it provides her with excellent security (no one can go in or out without a staff member being present), good opportunities for socialization, and staff that work with her to make sure she's utilizing as much of her facilities as she is able. "I was favorably impressed on my admittedly short visit. My husband liked it too. I like the multicultural aspect. My husband gobbled down the Korean food, and I assured him he will like the Iranian food and Spanish food too. We were greeted personally and warmly by the director, the nurse, the social worker, the cook, and at least two other lovely people whose titles I forget. My husband was assured that he may bring his own weights to lift (he said the ones there are too light for him), and he is game to take a yoga class. I promised him a new bathing suit for swimming days. I left after about an hour, and he stayed for another hour. They brought him home. He told me about the shopping trips they told him about. There is indeed one large room, and there are actually several smaller rooms around the perimeter. There is also a walking path, marked off with tape, and I was told the attendees are encouraged to walk around the room, during an organized walk. The nurse is on-site every day, and the social worker is there 3 days/week, I think she said. We will give this a try. I am optimistic that this place will be a good fit. "

"I was worked w/them through an agency. Over all the care is wonderful , inter-generation environment , they have different activities & recreation for the patients. How ever they had visitors in the NEW building on Windsor blvd , & they knew they was coming and they would be strapped for help , they called the agency & said they had an available shift open for Tuesday & Thursday 9-4:30 , iWent there & Lynette told me she had visitors and that they would be leaving at 12pm. I was working my but off until irealized the visitors was gone & Lynette came over to me and told that I can go home & when I looked at the time & it was only 12:30pm , so they used the agency to cover up the fact that they don't have enough help for all of those people , & used me just for 3.5 hours when they told the agency it was a minimum of 4 hours at least. So from what I've seen they are strapped for help and do a lot of covering up . the care is great but the way the handle business is not appropriate "

"My brother attends Active Day and he cannot wait to go. The staff is very caring and knows each person in their care. Lots of activities to participate in including trips during the day for lunch, shopping, even a Harbor cruise. The staff is laid back so it feels more like family care than institution care. Appreciate the care they give to each individual. "

"My husband and I visited three adult day programs in our area. My husband liked this one best. We found it was quieter and less busy. This was easier for him to deal with and he did not feel so overwhelmed or confused by his alzheimer's disease there. I appreciated the longer hours available, from 8am to 5pm, if I needed them. There is also a support group that meets in the same building on two different days that I have found helpful. Finally the staff has been very good at helping my husband to adjust to the program and working with me to get him to attend. I appreciate their flexibility in allowing us to adapt the program to fit our family. "

"This is senior housing, subsidized for those who qualify. It's a massive place that takes up several blocks"”in a gorgeous location, just behind the Potomac River. It is close to the new baseball stadium and near the waterfront, so there are lots of places nearby for eating and entertainment. It's also easily accessible by train. There is a beautifully manicured lawn, and many apartments have great views of the city. The whole place has a nice feeling"”built in the 70s. Instead of seeing walls, you see windows, so the design helps make it seem like a happier place"”and hip. There are white floors and high white ceilings, which gives it a modern, a clean look. Parking is challenging; there is no lot, so visitors have to parallel park on a one-way street. It is extremely secure--monitored with a call-in and sign-in system for those who enter. It's also very well maintained. The place inside is very pleasing to the eye, because it has lots of glass and big windows that look out on landscaping. It feels spread out, never crowded. All apartments are private"”nice, moderate size, with appliances that are not new but kept very nicely. Some group activities are offered, mostly organized by the residents, most of whom seem very active; there is no communal dining. All residents are responsible for covering and paying for their own care needs. "

"Without an appointment, my family and I visited Winter Growth in Onley, MD in November 2015. Our visit was for my father who is living with dementia. Upon arrival, we were immediately impressed with how accommodating the staff was and the way the building offered a feeling of welcome that normally only accompanies one's home. The cleanliness, without the clinical feeling! The gentleman who presented the tour was polite and informative, but what is more memorable was that he was in tune with the participants and took the time to introduce us to a few that fit my father's profile. My father's smile that accompanied the introductions was soothing to experience as a caregiver. Moreover, the tour gave us the opportunity to view and sample a few of the activities of the day program. Amazing! Everyone, staff included, was having fun and the goals of the activities focused on enriching the participants' lives, built upon their skills, knowledge, and unique abilities and strengths. After our tour, dad was given the opportunity to attend a complementary preview day. Needless to say dad is a current participant and we are so fortunate to have Winter Growth as part of our family. "I went to see Stella Maris in Lutherville-Timonium to look at their memory care for my mother. It's an extremely lovely facility, but unlike the other places I have visited, which are still in heavily residential areas and, even to some extent, not far from somewhat commercial areas, this place is kind of in the woods. It's a big campus, and the other things around it are these other big private school campuses and estates like horse farms. The facility is gorgeous. One of the great things about them is that they accept Medicaid, and they have a long-term managed memory care facility. Again, it feels like it is oriented first towards assisted living and second to managed memory care, but it was still really nice. Comparing it to other facilities is like going from being on a cruise ship to being on someone's 150-foot private yacht. It was that nice and just had that next-level vibe. They come highly recommended by friends of mine, too, and they all spoke very highly of the facility. They're just really expensive, but they accept Medicaid, so if you run out of money, they will transition your parents or loved ones onto Medicaid. If you're there, they're going to keep you, so if you can meet the initial financial hurdle, it is a place that could be worth it for your family."

"My mother was going to Crescent Ridge Adult Day Care at one time before her dementia got bad. I saw it maybe two years ago. It's a very active facility. They had a little dog staying there, and they had crafts. They used to pick her up in the morning and bring her back home in the evening. It was real good. The food was fine. They were talking, reading the newspaper, playing games, dancing, and playing music. They kept them active."
