We have someone from Compassionate Home Care Winchester, VA, coming into the home for my mother-in-law. We chose them to keep her at home and because they accept Medicaid. So far, the caregiver is very good. The person helps her with lunch, baths, and socialization, and just having someone else to talk to. Right now, the schedule works for us, too. I like that the person they have sent out has experience with dementia. The service is convenient, and it's a way to keep our mother in her home without putting her somewhere new that would just confuse her even more. It has been a blessing to be able to find an agency that accepts the insurance she has and works with her schedule. The caregiver also takes her to doctor's appointments and gives her a bath, which frees up time for the family. It is a good, consistent thing for her, too, because each day, it's the same person.

I know Compassion Home Care is an excellent agency because I had them before. We hired them for my sister for two and a half years. My sister had what they call "companionship" wherein they would take her to the doctor's appointments, give her her medicines, take her to the grocery store, help her prepare meals, etc. They had been wonderful to work. One of their caregivers named Cathy was just excellent. The owner was also wonderful. I would highly recommend them. In fact, I will be hiring them back again.
