My brother has gotten the best care ever from this service. My mom was under Providence and although both were fabulous, I can't thank enough for taking care of my younger brother. It was a very stressful time, also during Covid. THank you thank you.

Date of this experience: February 2019. I am an experienced hospice RN and would NEVER recommend Legacy Hospice of Portland, Oregon to anyone. We were completely failed during a recent end of life event for a family member. Even with strong advocacy with my level of experience and training, we could not get the hospice team engaged until day 7 -- our family member died 3 days later. We provided 100% of his care and had to hire private caregivers to make it through the difficult event. Staff was chronically late. When they did arrive, they made nothing but excuses. Our "primary nurse" made one visit, the rest of the nurses were "float staff". The agency staff AND administration made excuses about case-loads, computer systems, staff on "leave" and under-staffing. The caregivers were nice but didn't dig in and do any nursing care. They NEVER provided us with a medication guide or a plan-of-care for our family member. The nurses in the office nearly refused to provide us with the required supplies and equipment. They asked us to use a household item for bathing our family member instead of providing us with a bath basin. The office nurse also refused the liquid narcotics that the hospice nurse recommended, explaining that there is a national Opiod crisis. The care from Legacy Hospice was horrible!
