We cannot say enough about the great service Delora and her crew have provided for our family member needing home care. They have responded immediately to any issues that have arisen, even while he was still in rehab. Delora especially has gone way above and beyond our expectations — spending time on weekends looking for all of the adaptive equipment he would need before returning home, making sure his house was totally clean, having long phone conversations with us to discuss what is/was best for him, even calling the ambulance and staying with him at the hospital until he was admitted when he needed emergency hip surgery. We would highly recommend Right at Home Germantown to anyone.

Custom Care Plan
From the moment you call, we begin considering the specific needs of your loved one. We ask questions during the initial call or meeting to form a basic needs assessment. After discussing your particular situation, we will prepare an initial Custom Care Plan and then work with you to fine tune that Care Plan based on your loved one’s specific needs. Once the plan is agreed upon, your local Right at Home team matches the right caregiver to implement the plan.
Caregiver Training and Care Supervision
Every Right at Home caregiver goes through an extensive interview process, including background checks. Once hired, caregivers are trained through Right at Home University to ensure that they’re able to deliver the care set out in your loved one’s Custom Care Plan. The caregiver’s work attitude is great. She’s always available to help. She’s young, energetic and she’s willing to do anything. She’s just kinda fit right in as another family member.

Financial Assistance for Home Care in Milwaukee, WI
Given the high cost of in-home care, many people use one or more forms of financial assistance to cover the expenses. Below, we explain some of the most common sources of financial help for paying for in-home care. If none of these options are available to you, you can reach out to your Area Agency on Aging or Aging and Disability Resource Center to learn about local resources.
- Long-Term Care Insurance: Long-Term Care Insurance covers expenses related to senior care, including in-home care. Depending on the policy type, beneficiaries may receive a cash payment to use towards long-term care or reimbursement for qualifying long-term care expenses. Note that there are limitations- typically a maximum benefit of $150 per day- and exact coverage terms vary depending on the exact policy, so always check the details.
- Medicare: Medicare does not cover in-home care because it is classified as custodial, or non-medical, care. However, some Medicare Advantage and Medicare Supplement plans, which offer expanded benefits, may cover in-home custodial care.
- Medicaid: Medicaid coverage of in-home care varies between different states because it is not a federally mandated benefit. Currently, all states cover some in-home care either through their standard Medicaid or a waiver program. The specific coverage rules are set individually by each state.
- Veterans’ Benefits: The Aid and Attendance benefit is a monthly cash payment that beneficiaries can use to pay for senior care, including in-home care services. To qualify for A&A, Veterans must already receive the VA pension and meet several additional requirements, including needing assistance with the activities of daily living.Contact the Department of Veterans Affairs to learn more.
- Reverse Mortgages: Home Equity Conversion Mortgages (HECMs) are federally insured loans that are available to homeowners age 62 and over. Reverse mortgages allow you to access a portion of your home’s equity in cash, tax free. Many seniors use reverse mortgages to finance their care expenses, including in-home care. Note that although there are no monthly payments due on reverse mortgage loans, borrowers do have to repay the loan once the last surviving homeowner passes away, moves, or sells the home.
Free & Low-Cost Home Care Resources in Milwaukee, WI
Milwaukee-area seniors have many resources they can tap into for assistance that help them age in place well. These programs and services from government and nonprofit agencies focus on financial help and support to let seniors remain as independent as possible at home. Families can contact the groups below to get more information about these opportunities.
Milwaukee County residents ages 60 and older can receive free home-delivered meals through Meals on Wheels. Designed for homebound seniors, this service delivers a hot noon meal every weekday to assist older adults who struggle to make their own food at home. Along with the food, drivers provide a friendly visit.

Seniors can contact the program for quick home repairs or assistance with improvements to make their homes safer. Revitalize Milwaukee also offers a free chore service to help with general maintenance.

Frequently Asked Questions
How can I find home care agencies near me with availability?
Caring.com has a list of home care agencies in Milwaukee that have availability. This comprehensive directory shows not only the home care providers and their addresses but also the services the agency gives to the seniors in their care. Complete with reviews, this directory makes it simple for families to find local agencies to help with their home care needs.
What should I look for in a good home care agency near me in Milwaukee?
A quality home care agency will perform a background check on its team members and carry the proper licenses for working in Milwaukee County. It will provide in-home assessments to tailor its services to the needs of each client and will have a long list of services for each senior they care for.
What is the difference between in-home care and home health care?
Both in-home care and home health care take place in a senior’s home. Home care provides help with tackling chores, getting dressed in the morning, preparing meals and remembering to take medications. Home health care goes beyond this by providing in-home therapy and basic medical care. Home health care has physical therapy or nursing care within the senior’s home.
Assisted living homes vs. home care: how to decide?
To make the right choice between assisted living care and in-home care, a family must look closely at their loved one’s physical and emotional needs as well as the overall budget. Typically, assisted living costs less than in-home care, and moving to assisted living can eliminate the mortgage or other home maintenance costs. Home care allows seniors to remain where they feel the most comfortable and provides more privacy and independence, which may be what the family desires.
What is in-home respite care?
Many families will choose to use family members for their senior loved one’s home care needs. Yet these caregivers need a break from time to time. In-home respite care is a service offered through many home care agencies to provide compassionate care for seniors while unpaid family caregivers take a break.
