We hired Preferred Care at Home of The Villages. Mostly they take care of my mother and they also do everything you ask. They started with the four hour morning work routine, and now they do the evenings too. They do a good job as far as keeping my mother clean and happy. They also work well with hospice. They have one or two people that come in the morning, and one or two in the evening, and it’s usually the same person. The pricing is comparable with everybody else, they’re always very professional, courteous, they’re prompt with changes in their schedule, and they make sure somebody is always there.

My father lives in my rental house, and I have a nurse from Comfort Keepers coming in to care for him in the home. The caregivers are outstanding. They are very caring young ladies that come in, and my father has been in a very good mood since they started taking care of him. They are a good companion for him throughout the day. I just can’t say enough good things about them. And the other thing I have to add is they are very affordable for the services they offer. I would say that the best part about their services is they work completely with what you need. In other words, the days I needed them and the exact hours I needed them, they were more than happy to facilitate anything I needed.

Ocala Home Care Resources
Home care services are only one of the pieces needed for seniors to gracefully age in place. There are many services and programs that are low-cost or free, that enable seniors to enjoy an independent lifestyle in the comfort of their own home, such as help with home modifications, meal delivery services, and more. Below, we’ve compiled a few of the most helpful resources in Ocala:
Address: 109 NE Crystal Street Suite B, Crystal River, FL 34428
Phone Number: (352) 795-5000
This organization provides advocacy, assistance and resources for the hearing impaired in Marion County. Hearing-related resources can sometimes help seniors to remain independent in their homes for longer. Citrus Hearing Impaired Program Services provides specialized phone equipment at no cost to recipients as well as other products and services for hearing impaired seniors.
Address: 1101 SW 20th Ct, Ocala FL 34471
Phone Number: (352) 620-3501
Marion Senior Services understands how important it is for seniors to remain independent and in their homes for as long as possible. This program provides assistance to seniors in the Ocala area with a wide array of tasks, including light housekeeping, companionship, meal delivery and personal care. The purpose of the program is to assist with aging in place, so an initial consultation determines what services will help the recipient to do so safely and reasonably. The program also assists with crisis intervention, as needed.
Address: 11528 US-301, Belleview, FL 34420
Phone Number: (352) 687-1070

The volunteers socially engage the individual and provide companionship during this period.

This includes improvements such as grab bar installation in bathroom areas, raised toilet seats, mobility ramps, task lighting and installation of shower seats. The program is available to qualified seniors at no out-of-pocket cost.
Address: 1101 SW 20th Court, Ocala, FL 34474
Phone Number: (352) 620-3501
Administered by the Florida Department of Elder Affairs, the Senior Companion program has just four sites around the state and Ocala is one of them. Senior companion volunteers help with everything from transportation to medical appointments, shopping assistance, advocacy and companionship.
Determining Your Loved One’s Need for In-Home Care
Aging can be a difficult process, and loved ones may not always ask for help – often times it’s up to their family to evaluate their need for help around the house. While no two situations are exactly alike, this checklist can help you and your loved ones determine when it’s time to start the search for a home care provider.
Guidelines for Talking About In-Home Care
If you’ve determined that your loved one needs the assistance of a care provider in their home, it may be time for a difficult conversation. Handled correctly, however, this process can bring a family together and ensure that everyone’s concerns are addressed. Use this PDF as a starting point to help the conversation stay as positive and productive as possible.
