Without Assisting Hands Home Care we wouldn't have been able to keep my mom at home. They helped to get her day started and got her cleaned and fed. This isn't Assisting Hands Home Care's fault, but they are short-staffed and had issues finding people to cover shifts. There were times when we needed care, but they were unable to get it, but other agencies didn't have extra help either. I did like that they kept in touch if they were able to find a caregiver for a shift and to match them really well to my mom.

Maybe my expectations were too high but I paid a lot and all they really did was make breakfast and wash those dishes. The caregivers showed up late, left early, and weren't very helpful. The things my caregiver's doing are things I just cannot do, even the housekeeping. My balance is so poor that I'd be on the floor all the time if I had to vacuum and sweep. Their billing practices are atrocious. They're way behind on the billing, and when they do bill you everything is marked "past due". It's very frustrating because you always have to owe so much money. They always say it was lost in the mail but I don't lose other bills in the mail. I don't buy that.

They could be more consistent in their caregivers. I have probably had about 25 to 30 caregivers and I have only been with them for a couple of years. I only receive 15 hours of care a week and there has been no consistency in the caregivers.

The woman who had been with me at the time, cleaned up after my mess that I left on the floor that I could not get to. I do not think that they paid the caregivers enough. So, I do not think the caregivers are motivated to do a good job.
