As I write this complaint, I am in tears. First, I want to start by saying that my grandmother dedicated over 30 years of her life to the healthcare field, taking care of people with utmost compassion and dedication. She was deeply loved by both her patients and her colleagues. It is heartbreaking to know that after providing such exemplary care to others, her own last days on this earth were filled with such misery. From the very beginning, our experience with Vitas Hospice Services was distressing and disappointing. We were given the runaround right from the start. We were assured that all of her necessary medications would be provided, but they were not. The nurses were inconsistent in their instructions—one nurse would recommend a certain medication, and another would suggest something completely different. Throughout the entire process, we saw a CNA only once. The situation was so dire that our family had to step in and take shifts to ensure my grandmother received the care she needed. I even had to pay a friend to help us out. On the day before her passing, we were told a nurse would come to check on her, but no one ever showed up. This level of negligence and lack of coordination is unacceptable. I urge anyone who cares about their loved ones to avoid using Vitas Hospice Services. The care my grandmother received was nowhere near the standard she deserved, and it has left our family heartbroken and deeply distressed.

If I could give 10 stars I would. My experience with everyone at Vitas - from the initial consultation to the entire nursing staff and phone operators - was incredibly professional, understanding, patient & comforting through one of the most difficult & heartbreaking experiences I’ve ever had. When my mother got out of the hospital and I could no longer give her the care she required, Vitas Hospice stepped in & made everything easier for our family. They are a well oiled machine that always took the time to explain things to us so mom was involved in making decisions about her care. I can’t thank the nurses enough for their around the clock care and making mom comfortable in her last couple of weeks. I cannot recommend Vitas enough! Our experience was nothing short of a godsend.

I would recommend VITAS for your end of life care , They went above and beyond with my father ( Jonathan)and kept us inform with every health care issues and also , cared about our feelings too. I felt like some of my dad’s health team made you feel like you were family /friend,the way they enjoy and care for my father. They took the time to sit with him and talk with him , Jeff the social work did above and beyond what was expected of him and at the end spend time sitting with me as I sat at my dad’s beside , Chaplain John and Darren were so kind and considerate even singing with my dad because it made him happy. We had a couple of nurses , Terri , Denise and few others ( sorry I can’t remember everyone names) that kept us informed and made sure my dad’s pain was under control and ordered a new wheel chair so sitting up was more comfortable, I was impressed that even the doctor in charge had called me to let me know what was going on , VITAS has everything, even a music therapy team to make your family member feel more comfortable , They even made sure my dad got a shower weekly and bed bath at the end and what impressed me the most was a bather came and cleaned up my dad after he passed so he would have some dignity. As a Daughter , they help get thou this difficult time with my dad . Lynn S.

If you were like me, you are here desperately looking for reviews because you have to make a quick decision for your loved one. That's why I'm here today to tell you VITAS provided excellent care for my father. They made sure he was comfortable and had a peaceful passing always attending to what was going on and continually making adjustments throughout the care. They were very responsive to any inquiries I had through the journey. On a holiday, they returned my call within 10 minutes and sent someone ASAP to attend to an immediate need. Everyone was kind and answered all questions whenever those arose. VITAS offered many services for my father, and for us as the family. If deciding between the final two agencies, pick this one. Chicago suburbs, Palatine office.

Do not use this company. They do not care about you they do not care about the patient. We got a good sales pitch, there has been a mistake after mistake after mistake. Wrong bad equipment delivered. No supplies delivered. Nurses come with nothing on them to actually help. Wounds have Band-Aids too small so it's ripping off scabs. They say they care about pain management but give no medications and discontinue everything that is supposed to keep them out of pain. They also lied about how my mother would come home. Everything we agreed upon was canceled and they decided to cancel nutrition and medicine without our consent. Absolutely disgusting and horrendous company.

I gave one star because it wouldn’t let me give zero! Vitas “cared” for my father in law in end stage cancer. They were completely unprofessional. On multiple occasions nurses did not show for scheduled shifts leaving us scrambling to find help. Vitas also sent a nurse WHO KNEW SHE WAS COVID POSITIVE. Several family members got covid as a result and it made a stressful time much worse. Save yourself the headaches and go with another service!
