I spent a week with my mother in the Assisted Living side of Three Pillars in February of 2016. There was a nurse who would stop in for vitals and always had a mask across her mouth. After seeing her come in my mom's room five days in a row I asked about the mask. She said the second floor was quarantined with a respiratory outbreak. Turns out, it was pneumonia. My last day there it's all I could do to fly back home to Kansas. Ended up in the Emergency room and was diagnosed with full on Pneumonia. I called Three Pillars immediately to tell them and asked them to check my mom because she was having the same symptoms. They left her sit in her room for five more days before taking her by ambulance to the hospital. Upon arrival, she not only had pneumonia but now Sepsis as well. They asked if she had a do not resuscitate order she was in such bad shape. It wasn't long and she was moved to the nursing home side of Three P. She didn't want to go. We had a family meeting about it and thought at the time it may be best. She was supposed to go back to her room right after the family meeting and wait for her things to be moved over. She was so upset in the meeting that instead of her going back to her room, they literally took her in a wheel chair kicking and screaming across their park to the nursing building. I wasn't impressed with the nursing side either - especially the day I was there visiting with my daughter and my mom's new great granddaughter. Her floor was filthy and I had to use hand towels to clean the entire floor. 5 towels were completely filthy when I was done and I left them in the sink. Her clothes were always lost in the laundry and she had to keep checking lost and found for these articles. I could go on and on. Thankfully, we were able to move her after almost two years there to a beautiful facility in Madison and she couldn't be happier.
