The Elms of Lynchburg

We really liked The Elms of Lynchburg. We were looking at memory care, but we also looked at assisted living. I'm very pleased with it. It was cheery and smelled good. There wasn't that smell of being in an old home, or the smell of urine that we smelled at a lot of them. The people who worked there were very friendly. It's been under new management within the last year, and I think they're really doing a good job trying to change it and make it better. I thought they were great. I really liked the owner, Jennifer. Cheryl was the resident manager and she was very friendly and very helpful. I saw them walking by several times, talking with the residents, and giving them hugs and checking on them. We saw the menu, and the dining room was very nice and very cheerful. We saw both dining rooms. I liked the layout of the facility. You walked in, and the front doors were locked. We had to be buzzed in, but there was the nurse's station, and to the left was Cheryl's office. If you kept walking straight ahead, to the left a little bit was the dining room for the regular assisted living facility. There were hallways on the left and the right for the assisted living. If you walked straight, there were locked doors, and then that brought you into the memory care facility. The memory facility only had two halls. They could be shared rooms, but they had a private bathroom, and that has been a big deal for us. They're moving towards more modern, like the owner replaced the floor in the front, and it was nice and new. She had nice sunflowers, and the bathrooms in the rooms were very large.

I have been to this community many times. The staff is always friendly. They really care about my family members. The Alzheimer's care is exceptional. They really understand my mom's challenges and needs. I cannot thank them enough for all their hard work.
