My mom moved into The Elms of Lynchburg. We're not allowed to go in there yet. We only had one visit and that's it; it was when we first put her in there. Since then, we have visited her, but it has all been outside. I would say it is pleasant. The person who gave us the tour was the director of admissions for the parent company. She was very good, because I also met her before at another facility. She gave a tour to my mom, and she was very helpful. She actually drove my mom from Richmond to Lynchburg when she moved. Her room is nice. It might be a little bit smaller than what she had before. At her old place she had a private room; now she still has a private room but with a shared bathroom. Before she had her own bathroom, but it seems to be working out fine. I have not tried the food, but I think it is OK. My mom does not like food that's cold, so I know they've had to heat it up several times, but I think a lot of that's due to my mom being in the last room they serve. The activity director is there to keep the residents involved, and I know they have a Facebook page because my kids see it.

Rooms are standard for this type of facility. The Administration is hard to work with and their answer to any problem is ‘we are no longer able to care for you loved ones need’ and you have 30 days to move. Staff was good but administration is non caring and unresponsive.

The facility was very clean. The staff was very cheerful and welcoming the food smelled delicious. The residents seem very happy and were very active in an activity that was going on

They do not have any registered nurses. The residents eat a lot of sandwiches. State guidelines require one hot meal a day, breakfast is the cheap. Staff should not be allowed to yell at the residents. This has happened on numerous occasions to the point where we had to say, we do not want her interacting with our Mom. When every other facility is allowing inside visits (mask required), The Elms refuses to do that. They will roll your relative outside to visit in 100 degree heat, rain, cold weather, 20mph winds…..it does not matter. They will not let you inside even if your relative is in distress. Should staff have to be tipped to look after your loved one?

It was a nice place until a few months ago. Very little communication with loved ones relatives. Takes a very long time to get an answer to any question you may have. My loved one complained about the food being really bad. They lose things of the residents and can't find them. My loved one developed a medical issue I was never told about.

Had a good friend that lived there for 8 months she complained about the food and short staffed and she hated it there and clothes were missing and I seen they didn’t have there mask on when they would come to door to get items from me and no name tags parking lot would have only 5 cars on weekends and how could a few people take care of so many in their 😔😔😔

The community is very well taken care of, as are the residents. We are very pleased with the new leadership and with the new administrator. She is available, present and has high standards for the staff to follow. There is only one rate- no level of care rates like other communities in the area, so it makes it an affordable option, as well. It’s very home-like and cozy and we like that!

My mother has been placed at The Elms of Lynchburg, which is a good place. She's adjusted well the month or so that she's been there. My grandmother had been there as well. She's in the memory care unit. They have great care and great social activities. She seems very happy there. They do afternoon popcorn and get them together in the afternoons. The overall atmosphere is very inviting. The memory care ward is a little different. It's a locked ward, but it's clean and well staffed.

I have been to this community many times. The staff is always friendly. They really care about my family members. The Alzheimer's care is exceptional. They really understand my mom's challenges and needs. I cannot thank them enough for all their hard work.

This is a beautiful community located in the heart of Lynchburg. The staff are friendly and attentive to the residents. The price is excellent. All inclusive. No extra unforeseen charges. Memory Care and Assisted Living. Large rooms and Companion suites.
