The aides and the nurses at Brighton Senior Living of Cypress were great. They were concerned about my husband's breathing when he was there. We just had a problem. They had given him a paper, which he didn't tell me about. We were on self-pay and it was a mix-up there. Once I figured it out, I paid them and everything was fine, but there was a little miscommunication. Other than that, as I said, the aides and the nurses were all great. The food was not the best. My husband was not supposed to have spicy or fried foods. One day when I came in, he had fried fish, french fries, and hushpuppies. Everything was fried. Sometimes the food was good, sometimes it's just not so good. His room was kept clean and he had to have a bariatric bed. He got plenty of room and everything. That was a nice room. At one time, they had an outage on the cable and it took maybe two weeks to get it back up. We weren't the only ones complaining. I think all the residents asked what they could do. Of course, if you're bedridden, there's not much you can do, but watch TV. Then they had an outage on the phone. He had a phone and he would usually call me at night or if there was a day I didn't come up or something, but that went out and they never got that fixed. A few times when they did physical therapy, they took him to the physical therapy room where they had the exercise machines. They'd gotten him in a lift and got him in a wheelchair and took him there to do some work. The facility was nice. It's been kept clean. I've been in some places before, visiting other people and it smells bad, but this place never smelled bad. I think the upkeep was good.

This facility has owed me $800 refund for over a year now. Never returns calls and the person who can reimburse me is never available. Constant runaround. I wonder how many others they are cheating out of money owed to them. Be careful doing business with them.

WARNING!!! This is a beautiful facility! Don't be fooled by the shiny floors, beautiful furniture, and friendly Admissions Coordinator. I wouldn't put my dead dog at this facility! My mother was dropped over 5 times, over medicated, and neglected at this facility! If there was a number below 1, I'd give it a negative 1000! My mother is dead now because of the horrible care she received from nurses who had bad attitudes! Enough said! On multiple occasions, she received trays of food without any form of protein. On week-ends, she received peanut butter sandwiches. The house-keeping staff are very friendly and compassionate; however most of the nursing staff is burned-out and over-worked.

My mother didn’t get a bath for 2 whole weeks in May. We got her out. That was the main thing she looked forward to.

A friend of mine is at Grace Care Center of Cypress. I don't think that this place is great as they make him wait for long periods of time. For their rooms, they don't have any padding in case you are going to fall, but other than that is it fine. Their food is OK. They have a lot of activities, but I noticed that they do have residents who are violent and can hurt other residents. I think they need to transfer those residents to another area.
