Assisted Living Communities in Missouri City, TX

"Mom is living at Atria Sugar Land. We chose this facility because it really was the one that fit my mom's needs best. She didn’t want to live in a really large place and this facility is a lot homier. She also wanted to be in a place where the food is really good and in Atria their food was very good. They have fresh vegetables and not just canned food with a lot of sauce on it. The location is very convenient as it is very near to doctor's offices. The people there are very friendly. "

"I like Optimum Personal Care. It was not what my mom needed at the time, but the lady who gave me the tour was very nice. The facility was very nice. The rooms were small, but clean and nice. They were small because they want the people to be out and not in the room. "

"We fell in love with the hospitality at Landon Ridge Sugar Land Assisted Living & Memory Care. We were able to sample lunch and we met with the kitchen staff. They treated my mom with a banana split. They had a singer there for the day. From there, we went and did the tour to kind of break the ice. The rooms were super spacious. It was just unexpectedly comforting and very homey. For her first tour, it was like a welcome home type thing. The girl that did the actual tour there was amazing. She welcomed us. When you pull up, it looks like an apartment almost, it does not look like a hospital setting. This was like an actual little community, and it just didn't look like something you would expect for an assisted living to be, which is comforting for somebody that's transitioning to a different lifestyle change like that. The other thing that I want to say about why we decided to entertain this one is because of the point system that they go off regarding cost of the assisted living monthly. They work with you more on your finances, I believe, and so that's helpful. They also allow you to mingle with the residents and the residents were all very, very pleased. That says a lot right there that they're not scared for you to talk to the people. They were all included, and that's comforting, too, because it is scary not knowing where you're going to live and who your neighbors would be. It's close to home, it's really clean, and it's really welcoming, and we like it. The food was good. They gave us a menu to choose from. The chef was amazing. The patient coordinator that works with them, is a whole ball of fire. She kept them going. She was dancing with them in their wheelchairs. It was so touching. It's a perfect fit. There is very minimal turnover. If anything, they add some staff, and they don't take away, which is huge. It says a lot."

"Greatwood was a beautiful place. It was gorgeous, and I really liked it, but I could not afford it. I saw the dining room, the grounds, and everything else there. You have access to the freeway, all the doctors, and there is a nearby hospital which you can see from the facility. "

"When I went to Tender Care Assisted Living, it was so very clean. The caregivers were very helpful in giving information, and seeing how they worked while I was there. It was a very nice facility and great caregivers. The communication was very good. They communicated with the patients. While I was there, I noticed a lot of what they were doing, keeping them comfortable, and interacting with them. I noticed that they had outdoor space, which is nice, the living space area for them to come and watch TV out in the living area, which is a very nice size. They have games and interactive games, but I didn't see a workout facility, they said they do work out with them. They're not just sitting in a chair. They try to get them to do some things with their legs and arms."

"Orchard Park at Southfork was a very nice place. They were farther away, but the staff was very friendly. They took us on a tour and tried to be as accommodating as they could. The building was very clean and nice. The layout of the room was also accommodating and good. They gave us little cups with crackers and little welcome signs and were very friendly."

"We toured Clarewood House Senior Community. It was an interesting arrangement with the lady who's responsible for the marketing area. She took her phone and we did a Zoom tour of the different sites. She filmed the model that I was interested in, and the larger one, she walked through the facility and dining hall on a Zoom call. Then we went to go see it in person, but she was not available for that. Her boss, who is the executive director there, showed us through and gave it more of a business viewpoint, but he was very kind. I like what we saw there, it was a nice facility. What I had against them was they were a little bit far away from my daughter. The apartments have a full kitchen setup. Instead of having a laundry service or laundry shaft in the apartment, they have community coin-operated washers and dryers. They charge a quarter to run the washer and dryer, and they said that the reason they did that was to keep people from picking up the laundry facility for small loads. They found that by giving them a quarter for a particular load, they'd be using them for more loads since they have to pay for it. They were kind of landlocked in a commercial area. There were not a lot of green spaces if you were looking for a setting where you could go and sit out in the open and just contemplate life."

"I had toured The Village of Meyerland before and they were wonderful. They were very, very good and very, very nice. The rooms were just gorgeous and very beautiful, I like them. The person who showed me around there was excellent, a super guy. The place was beautiful and well laid out. They had a lot going on because there was no lockdown yet. They had a lot of activities and a lot of fun, but you did not have to partake."

"This is an assisted living facility that's Alzheimer's certified. They handle all stages of Alzheimer's here, including hospice. They also care for residents who've had a stroke or some kind of disability. It's in the Southwest part of Houston, near Sugarland--a family oriented, higher middle class neighborhood. It's also very accessible to the expressway. It's a very homey place but large enough that residents don't feel like they're bumping into one another. They have both private and semi-private rooms. They also have a good call system in the room for those with early dementia. The staff is very good. They keep the care ration at 4 residents to one caregiver at max. And the certified nurse's aides are very attentive. The food is good, too. It's prepared on site. I had a meal there when I was visited, and it was really good. They have an assistant who comes in four times a week to lead activities, and they have a good program: outings, performers come in, that kind of thing. And they have pet therapy, hair and nail care, and church services there. One other pro: It's very affordable for its location. "

"Com for Care Assisted Living is small, but they're more focused on the patients. My mom has been there for a week now. The staff members are great. My mom speaks Spanish mostly, and the staff speaks Spanish, which is a plus for my mom. Their food is all home-cooked. It's like a house, not like a big facility. They're limited in there. However, I'm really happy with it. They have a little patio where they can sit outside. From the back, they have a backyard, too."

"I recently moved my mother into the Gardens of Bellaire. The facility has a more vibrant and "homey" feel to it relative to other places I visited. The apartment was clean with good natural light. The staff was top notch. I needed to move my mom on short notice and the staff, Cherlaine in particular, helped me in expediting the process. All staff that I interacted with were friendly, professional and knowledgeable. Every time I visited there were ongoing activities with the residents in the main living room. I visited with several residents, and all were happy. There is also a nice screen porch and outdoor gardens. My wife just returned from visiting my mom and she feels the same way."

"We went to look at Atria Westchase. The staff was great. It had independent living, assisted living, and memory care. My mother-in-law commented that she didn't see a lot of people smiling. The layout was fine, but the closet space was not a good selling point for her. At the price point that she was looking at, she could only do a one-bedroom. The presentation and taste of the food were good. It was good standards, but nothing out of the ordinary."

"The Reserve at Pearland has an awesome nurse. The facility looked lovely. The people there were very friendly and welcoming. They have lots of things to do. It was a beautiful place, but their staff was what really stood out for me. They were so friendly. They've reached out to me and they've offered to do things. They were wonderful. Crystal was the name of the nurse and she was fabulous. Chloe was the one taking us around and she was really good, too. They've got good-sized rooms. The atmosphere was very welcoming and friendly. Everybody was very nice. If they saw us, they introduced themselves, so I couldn't ask for better."
