I toured Mercy House Georgetown. It's nice. It's an older building. They recently took this over from a different company, and they're in the process of doing some gradual renovations and updating. The first impression you notice is that the building is a little older. The paint on the walls is fresh, but they are trying to improve it right now. It's clean. It looks safe, but you can tell it's an old building. The staff seemed very caring. One thing that I liked to hear is that, I guess she's the director of the facility, she told us she is on call pretty much 24 hours a day. She has family members of the residents calling her at 10:00 at night, sometimes with whatever concerns they have, and that's good to hear because there are a lot of facilities where after 5:00 you're not going to reach anybody. So, that's what we really liked to hear. The dining area looks nice enough. Everything there is small because the maximum capacity is, I think they said, 38. So it's not a big facility. The dining area is small but creates more of a home environment; that's what they're going for. They want their facility to feel like just a big home as opposed to something institutional.

We saw the memory care section. It's very nice and very clean. I was impressed with it. It seemed very comfortable. One thing I noticed is that there wasn't any smell. A lot of times, when you walk in those types of facilities, you get the whiff of urine or whatever. This place smelt really good and looked clean. The person who assisted me was very sweet, very nice, and seemed very knowledgeable about the care of people with memory issues. I didn't try the food but I checked the dining area and it looked clean and nice. I remember seeing a TV area and an outside area too.

I visited and thought it was quite nice, the grounds were very nice, it's very out there, secluded, and it was pretty good. I was impressed with it, and the rooms were larger. There were people doing crafts, but I didn't think my father would participate in that. It's very upbeat, it seemed like the people really care about the elderly. They're very accommodating, everyone was very nice, and it was very clean.

I found here for my husband. It was the one I liked best. It had brand-new sections and rooms that nobody has been in before him. They have a beautiful courtyard. The staff has done very well so far, and I'm impressed with the care he's getting.
