My father moved to Pelican Bay at Beaumont's assisted living. They're very accommodating, and my dad likes it. They seem to watch him really well, and they check on him every two hours, at least, so I have no complaints. He had a doctor's appointment yesterday, and they said he'd be ready by 9:00, and he was ready. My dad has a one-bedroom apartment and it has a living area, a separate bedroom, and a handicap-accessible bathroom with a walk-in shower. It also has a walk-in closet, which is a nice size. It has a small kitchenette with a microwave and a pantry area. Everything was clean enough. They repainted it, and then we could do whatever we want, like if we wanted to furnish it and everything. He doesn't need anything bigger. It's plenty for him, and he does have some mobility issues. The facilities are clean. You walk in the door, the staff acknowledge you, and they remember you. They would tell me my dad did this and that today, and that he's doing good. I don't have complaints. My dad is a very picky eater, so if he doesn't like what's on the menu, they either give him a sandwich or a hamburger, and he's happy with that. He wants no vegetables, just meat and bread and a little potato if it's fried. The residents' families or any of their guests are allowed to eat with them for $5, and you get plenty. You just have to let them know when you come in that you're eating lunch with them, and you pay $5. The facility is on the smaller side, but in some aspects that's very good for my dad. As far as cleanliness goes, everything's functional and nothing's broken down. It worked out perfectly for him. They have multiple activities every day. They have bingo almost every day, and a movie theater that plays movies and has popcorn sometimes. They have guests come in all the time to sing, too. They have church services on Sundays if they want to go. A lot of times they have painting classes, but my dad doesn't really participate in that. They had an ice cream and a hot dog bar yesterday. They had hot dogs with all the fixings, and you can have what you want. I know my dad was worried about getting back in time to do the hot dog bar from his doctor's appointment. They also have a casino Friday where they take them all in a van to the casino. They usually have outings outside of the facility once a week, too. The only thing I can see is that they are limited on space for some of their activities, because it's a smaller facility, but it seems like if there are residents who want to participate, they make sure to make room. They wash the residents' clothes, but if you want to wash your own clothes, you can. They have multiple washing machines and dryers you can use in a couple of spots within the community. They have PT on staff in a room, so they can do that. They have a sauna that could be used for physical therapy if you need that. They have a dining area, and it's like going to a restaurant with tablecloths and all that kind of stuff. They need to update their gardens because they're kind of overgrown, but they're working on it. They kind of need some maintenance. My dad does not utilize it, but it's the only thing I see that they can do better on.

My friend is at Pelican Bay at Beaumont. The facility is very plush and elegant. It's wide, open, very large, and clean. The only problem with it is that you have to walk quite a long way to get to where you want to go. The building is large. They have really wide halls. It's kind of confusing for some to be able to negotiate where you want to go, but it's nice. They have a chart up on the wall that tells what activities are going to be for the month, like bingo. When I visited, they were having Thanksgiving dinner, and it was served very nicely. They have a nice indoor. It's surrounded by a garden in the center. They give you just about anything you'd want. They have haircuts and a nail salon. My friend seems very happy there.

My mother is in Pelican Bay Assisted Living. She's only been there for a little bit now, but so far I love it. Everybody's very nice and helpful. They're constantly having little parties and games and singers. They have a movie theater in there, so they're constantly doing stuff with them. Her room is very nice. She's got a living room area, a kitchenette, a bedroom, a bathroom vanity area, and then the shower, and she's got a big walk-in closet, so it's very nice. They're wonderful in there.

My mom will be moving into Pelican Bay Assisted Living. The main reason we chose it was because they had available rooms that opened out onto a partially covered courtyard. So, she would have a patio area and then it was fully enclosed where she won't be able to get out. The staff was very joyful, very compassionate, fully professional, and understanding. The building looked very clean.

My tour at Pelican Bay Assisted Living was mainly for assisted living, but they also took me to the memory care unit when I was there. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The layout was beautiful. It was functional, and the facilities were top notch. They have lots of activities. There was a gentleman playing music in the main space, and a couple of residents would get up and dance as he sang.

It's been two months since mom is at Pelican Bay. It’s a smaller community -- brand new and very clean as well. The staff was excellent, and it is closer to my home.
