I liked Jenni-Lynn, but it was a little bit expensive. The staff was friendly and polite. They have a little bit more things to do. I've seen an exercise room, a courtyard, an activity room, and a dining area, and they had a nice little sitting area outside the front when you come in. It was pretty nice. It is not far from restaurants, maybe about a mile or two. It's a pretty good location. The room size was average.

I went to Jenni-Lynn Senior Living. They go from level one through four, but they don't do the most serious senior needs. They only offer very low assistance up to pretty high levels of assistance. It was very positive. The people were very nice and kind. The people that lived there seemed very happy. They had a cafeteria, an activity room, a physical therapy room, a veranda, and a place where people could go out. They had porches and things like that, and everything was clean. It was very neat and well-maintained, and it had a lot of foliage and gardens around. They had a variety of rooms at different prices. And they all were nice sized for what my brother would need. The rooms were nice with amenities for the handicapped and things like that. It seemed like a nice and friendly place.

We visited Jenni-Lynn Senior Living and we were very impressed with it. It was an older facility, but they're doing a lot of updating. They're changing the furniture. They're taking up the carpets and putting in vinyl floors. I thought it was very clean and very nicely kept. Everybody appeared to be treated equally. The staff member was very informed. She knew what she was talking about. She was familiar with all of the rooms, and she even made suggestions on the two-bedroom apartment that would accommodate my needs. I was very pleased with that. We met the other staff and they were all nice and just as informed, and we were very well serviced while we were there. I was told that the area that we were looking at has a little kitchenette. I could use it if I had a girlfriend come over and we wanted to eat there, but I had to have permission. We could use the kitchenette to fix food for ourselves.

I had a tour of Jenni-Lynn Senior Living. It was fine. It was a great place. The living conditions were good. The staff was good, but my friend just couldn't afford it. Everything was great with the place, but it started at $2600, and that was without care. She was a type 2 or something and that was going to be another $750, and then there was going to be another fee for this and that, and it was just going to end up being way too much. The staff were good. The rooms were studios. They weren't like a big apartment, it was just like one room. We had to furnish it, too. They had a lot of activities like painting, drawing, and shuffleboard. They had a lot of activities there.

We went to Jenni-Lynn Senior Living. When you walk in, it was not pleasing aesthetically to the eye. It was dingy and old, and it gave the appearance of being unkempt. The person there, Miss Beverly, was very kind. She took us for a tour and we stayed open-minded. The tour was lovely. She answered every question on the tour. She showed us common areas, all the work, and everything. They had had a person fall and they were treating that person, and we saw how they work. As we walked throughout the facility, we did see a lot of CNAs or nursing staff out on the floor, which made us comfortable. They were getting ready for dinnertime and they were presenting the food to the clientele. The food smelled amazing and it looked pleasing to the eye. I explained to the people that my mother was very set in her eating habits and she wanted specific things. They showed us the menu and Miss Beverly said, "We're here to service your mother. We will fix her whatever she wants." How nice it was to hear that the client is the most important. They have a waiting list and that told me something as well. Maybe people did prefer Jenni-Lynn and maybe it was a facility worth waiting for. Miss Beverly showed us four different rooms and floor plans. They were remodeling the first room and there was a ladder and lumber in it. She said, "Please excuse the mess. We're remodeling and we're going to be remodeling the entire facility. I apologize for this." I said, "No, this is perfect." We like to see the truth. We like to see honesty. The facility was not as aesthetically pleasing to the eye, to begin with. We went back to the office and the facility director was there and was willing to answer any questions we had and that was very nice as well. That made us feel special.

I didn't see a whole lot of staff at Jenni-Lynn Senior Living, nor did I see a whole lot of care. The residents seemed happy and were content looking. They said they have occasional outings. I like that it was small and there were not many residents there and it seemed real homey. They were in the process of remodeling.

Jenni-Lynn Senior Living is a clean place. All the common areas are spacious and they have outdoor garden areas, which I think my mother would enjoy. It is kind of a quaint little place. They have a front porch with rocking chairs, the people were very nice, and the person who gave the tour was very informative. The rooms were clean. They're not huge or anything, but I didn't expect them to be in a situation like that. They just had finished remodeling the rooms and they were about to start remodeling the cafeteria area. It was a pleasant place. The dining area was neat, clean, and spacious. I have talked with them about coming back, at their expense, and to have lunch. I saw some people that were in a big room and doing activities. They do light exercises, too. They have a room dedicated just for crossword puzzles and sudoku (which my mom enjoys), gardening and raised beds outside, and an outside activity area. It's in a quiet residential area.

Jenni-Lynn Senior Living was an older facility with older furnishing. I didn't find it bright and welcoming. I saw some activities going on where a staff member was working with another resident. They have remodeled the interior of the room, and the bathrooms were very nice and clean. I think they were about to get ready to remodel the exterior of the rooms, too. In other words, paint the doors, put down new carpet in the hallway, and things like that. I am just not sure if it would have been a right fit for my mom, but the lady who showed me around was very nice. She didn't mind me taking photos of the rooms, because I wanted to show them to my mom at the time. So, she was very nice. They had a beauty parlor, too.

I had an in-person tour of Jenni-Lynn Senior Living. The tour went well. They took me through all the different areas where the residents live. She showed me the dining area and a recreation-type room. She showed me the different types of rooms: semi-private and private. She told me all the activities that the residents are able to participate in. Basically, it was a good tour. I enjoyed it. The place was neat and clean. The residents that I saw seemed happy and comfortable in the environment. There's an area where they are able to plant flowers and attend to different plants if that's something they like. They have a beauty salon and someone comes in once a week. They have a chapel. So it was nice. The physical appearance was fine. They were in the process of doing a renovation. They had started it, but when the pandemic came on, they had to cease, so they're in the process of doing a lot of renovations to their new furniture, painting and everything. The staff was very nice and informative. I didn't have a chance to try their food, but it looked and smelled giood because they were having lunch when we were there.

We looked at the independent side of Jenni-Lynn Senior Living. The layout was nice and it's really cute. It's sort of compact so there's not a lot of travel because it's not a huge campus and it's relatively small. The staff seemed to be very polite and very engaging. The cottages were really cute and I thought they were just adorable. They're almost like homes. They give the residents a nice amount of space but not too much where they'd be overwhelming for cleanup. It's nice and I fell in love with the 1-bedroom, the units have a beautiful outdoor patio. The picture of that captured me and when I got to see it for myself, I was sold. The 2- bedroom cottages also have a very nice backyard space. The place is up-to-date and modern. I didn't have any hesitation about it. We got to see a unit that had a resident and we got to see a unit that was being worked on because the residents had moved out and they were all clean. The campus itself is clean. Inside the building, we had to use the restroom and it was very clean. It appears that they have the best practices for the pandemic. While they haven't made it mandatory for their staff to get the shot, many of them have gotten it. I know that they have different activities and different outings that they can take advantage of, but at that property, during my visit, I had not seen them. I did notice a room for the beauty shop or whatever, but they didn't open it up, so we would have looked inside. Overall, I thought things could be a little bit different, but that was just more of like my expectation and what I just had envisioned. The residents were nice though and as we were approaching the facility, one of the residents was there. She was walking around and she seemed to be very pleasant. She also seemed like she was okay and they were taking care of her. There was nothing that stood out to me when it came to the staff. I wouldn't say it was exceptional or maybe my expectations are just different. Coming from a customer service background and work, I look for certain levels of excellence and that you should go out of your way. I found that the level of service was pretty competitive because they were doing what they were supposed to do but there was nothing that stood out or that they went above and beyond. I didn't feel that way. I just felt like it was business as usual and they performed their roles in the usual manner. I think they need more parking because the parking at the campus is low. For visitors that are coming in, in addition to the residents, there was not a lot of parking space. They have to expand their property to be able to accommodate visitors for parking.

Jenni-Lynn Senior Living was great. The best thing about it is that it has a garage. They're independent living, and it looked like a house cut in half. One side is for one person, and then the other side is for another person. Everybody looked happy there. The staff was nice. They were playing bingo when I was there. All the rooms had wood floors. I saw a one-bedroom because I didn't need more than that. They were very well maintained. They have a library, but the biggest amenity to me is the garage. It's hard to find a senior living home with a garage. It feels homey. There are two houses in one unit and both houses have garages. If you need to have someone take care of you, they have that too. The only staff I talked to was the person who does the leasing, and she was very knowledgeable.

My mother has been moved from Jenni-Lynn Senior Living because she was trying to get out. She stayed there a week. The people were friendly. They had exercise activities, sing-alongs, trivia, and contests. They had a patio, an enclosed courtyard, and screened-in porch. It had a homey feeling.

My mother has lived at Jenni Lynn since August of 2019. Our family has been very pleased with the care she receives. Covid has been tough on everyone, but I can tell you that Mom is loved and cared for. She often tells me how good the food is. The staff has gone above and beyond at making sure the residents feel loved during this unprecedented time. I am very grateful for them and their love for the residents.

Provider Response

Thank you! There have been many challenges this year for all of us. We are honored and privileged to have your Mom and all our residents. AT the end of the day the residents make work worthwhile. We love Mrs. S.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

I have a relative who has been living at Jenni Lynn for a few months now and we have nothing but positive feedback. Keep in mind this is the time of Covid19 so things obviously are a bit different. Having said that, senior leadership at JL seems to create a very caring environment and does a really good job of communicating to family/associated parties. The feedback I get from my relative: (1) the food is terrific. (2) I feel safe and cared for. (3) I am enjoying getting to know new people. Placing my relative was a long and, at times, frustrating process but our decision to choose Jenni Lynn has proven, so far, to be the right choice for us. Thank you to Jenni Lynn!

Provider Response

Thanks for putting your trust in Jenni-Lynn. It is our pleasure to have your aunt and Willow.

My Mom started in the independent living. She was able to go to the assisted living center for any activities they had each day. She normally had lunch and dinner there. We recently had to move her to assisted living at Jenni-Lynn’s. They do a great job of caring for her. We don’t have to worry about whether she is taking her medication when see you get it. They give her 3 meals a day. They also , help with her bathing, washing her clothes and cleaning her rooms. She likes most of her meals. She is picky about how her vegetables are cooked. We have peace of mind that she is being taken care of.

Provider Response

Your Mom is so good natured. She is patient, kind and loved by all. We are blessed to have Mrs. S at Jenni-Lynn.

My Mom just moved to Jenni-Lynn at a difficult time following the recent death of her husband. The staff has comforted her through this difficult period and helped ease the transition. My Mom always comments on the great staff members and the excellent food. JL really makes the residents feel at home. Paula was invaluable to me as I tried to find a warm, caring place for my Mom. Many thanks to Paula and her staff.

Provider Response

You Mom definitely has a lot to deal with right now. She is doing better each day. Hugs and kisses and a lot of reassuring definitely makes a big difference.

This facility is run by the most unprofessional people. The rooms are small and not cleaned well at all. There is only a couple staff members on duty after 5:00 on Friday until Monday morning. The staff is not friendly with residents or visitors. The food is horrible. Mostly carbs are served daily and the extra food is taken by staff so if the resident is a late sleeper and misses meal times they are told kitchen is closed. They do have a canteen area where the residents can get juice or soda. Fruit is sometimes available. The activities are limited to basically Bingo. There was outings for shopping until the bus window got broken. Now nobody goes anywhere. If they need a doctor instead of going to an Urgent Care facility they are taken by ambulance to the hospital. Nobody there on weekends to drive to a medical facility. I would not board an animal here. I am so sorry my sister had to end up here.

I was only at Jenni-Lynn for a small amount of time because I found out they were changing to a non-smoking policy for both employees and recipients, so they wouldn't take the person I'm looking for a place because he is a smoker. But, it was just a really nice experience when I visited. The place was nicely decorated and clean. It was beautiful. The rooms were great, it has been updated. The room you furnish yourself, whatever you want to bring. The people were friendly too.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

My mom lived at Jenni-Lynn Senior Living for about three years. It was one of the cleanest places we found. There was good security for the residents because an alarm went off if they accidentally left to wander. However, the floor staff seemed uneducated when they handled the residents. And the price increased every six months under the new director. Those were the negative side of the facility.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

My grandmother spent several years in Jenni Lynn Assisted Living in those last golden years. She often gave praise, made comments and even complained on occasion, but that was her right. I made it up there when I could, as did other family members, so she didn't have too much to complain about. When it comes to praise I think of several things I experienced, and maybe a few other feelings, though nothing too negative. When first visiting there was no avoiding the greeters at the door. Not paid greeters, but the other elderly residents who enjoyed sitting near the foyer to see who would come by day after day. A warm smile was beaming when walking through the door. The folks knew you weren't there to see them, but seemed happy to see you all the same. The staff were always the second feature that was never left unnoticed, as they gave a more coherent welcome, usually recognizing myself or other family members, and letting us know if Granny was in her room or perhaps off elsewhere. She was usually in her room. She claimed there was no one else to play bridge with, but I'm not sure she readily looked. She claimed that all the "old people" just wanted to talk about the "gold ol' days", that they weren't interested in playing games. They seemed attentive to her needs and she commonly stated whether she approved of one person over the other, but she clearly liked them all. There was also a hair dresser that spent a lot of time in the facility that would curl hair and do perms all day so that the residents could show off to their friends and family that even at their age they can still look good. My grandmother appreciated this a lot. She had fer hair "fixed" every week. Walking through the home -- she lived in the main building versus the individual housing -- I'd see many of the folks she referred to sitting around in a sort of main room with couches, tables and a television, chatting and glancing about. It seemed homely without too much indication of it being a bit more on the assisted side. When we visited as a family, we could find an area to congregate as her room/apartment wouldn't fit more than a few people. She especially didn't like the room sizes. She felt like they were too small, but while she complained about that, I feel it was appropriately sized for her since she couldn't easily get around without a walker. The bathroom had rails so she had easy access to bathe, etc. She didn't have a kitchen, though she did have an area with a refrigerator and lots and lots of snacks. She was quite the snacker, so it was good she had that little area. I never tried the food, so I can't be too much of a judge, but she seemed to express that it left something to be desired. Then again, this came from the lady who's greatest qualm was that she couldn't get a strawberry daiquiri. All in all, to me it was a very nice facility with kind residents and a caring staff. Many of those seemed to care for my grandmother very much and were all very sad to see her leave. From my experience, I would recommend it for any of this with a family member or friend in need of a place to relax in their golden years.
