We visited Darlington Memory Lane, we found it very nice, its small, and in a very nice location. They accept Medicaid. We were really impressed with it, the person who provided us a tour was really nice, and promised us a spot for when my mother at that point where she can no longer live alone. They were serving lunch at that time and the food really looked good. I was impressed with the number of staff, its a small facility with 43 residents, and the level of attention to the residents was very nice.

The smell of urine almost knocked me over as soon as I walked through the door. And it only got worse from there... What a sad, dark, and dismal place for any human to live in. The rooms are tiny and there is no place to get any sun or joy. This place should be closed down. It's very prison-like. The "inmates" are limited to one small area with no creative activities. The staff was ok - but I did not spend enough time to know about the care. All I know is that if they work at DML, then they are compliant in the miserable conditions I witnessed. Why hasn't the state of RI stepped in?
