Jenner's Pond is off-the-chart beautiful. It is a five-plus. The rooms are spacious. They have cottages if you want to live independently. They also have apartments (efficiency, 1-bedroom or 2-bedroom). The 2-bedroom apartments are very large. The place itself is in outstanding condition. I have never seen a retirement home like it. It is so nice. It has a different financial structure than the other communities. They have a large front fee, and it is not a month-to-month rental like the other communities. However, they have just about everything you can offer. They have a woodshop, computers, game rooms, and trips to local shopping centers. It is a big place and they offer more. It is very close to the University at Penn Hospital and very close to a shopping center. I ate there three times and the food was excellent.

The facility is nice but the food is terrible and there is no help if your relative needs assistance. The nurse or aides are good at night but the day shift is very poor. They have attitudes and do not do the minimum care that is required. Everytime my family brought up a problem the nurse or aide would say it's not my responsibility or pass the buck. I have even heard them talking about residents and their families in a negative way open out on the floor. Is there no respect? Unfortunately this forum does not allow you to use names so I need to be general because there is only a few of the day shift that are a problem. How do they stay employees for 10-15 years there? The other thus is they run through help quickly so I don't understand how some people get to stay and others are let go. I do know that they are always short handed and all shifts need additional help but when caring for someone we don't want to hear we are short handed. If I was shirt when we paid our bill I'm sure that would not be ok. They have activities but not many people take place maybe there could be more done to get residents involved. The price is high for the service you get and you need to be there all the time to make sure the care is being provided. I can't take one more time of saying we were short handed the shower was not given - the is terrible. The administration needs to be threatened to get anything done. Then the staff treats you bad after you complain that they are not doing their job. I think most places are just like this but here is $2500 more a month.

Jenners pond provides a comfortable upscale assisted living facility for those in need. I visited this location when my Grandfather was a resident. The location was easily accessible and surrounded my trees and nice landscaping. To access the building the visitor needs to be let in to the building through the main door. This security feature adds added protection for the loved one living in this facility. I also liked that the facility inside was well lit and did not have that nursing home smell, actually there was no distinct smell at all. The residents of jenners pond are provided with a small room consisting of a bed, dresser, desk, bookcase and bathroom in the room. The room does not look like that of a hospital or traditional nursing home but more of an upscale dorm room. The dining room is also very nice and clean - as is the whole facility. The residents also have daily activities to participate in. Jenners pond overall was a positive experience and a location that I would recommend to someone in need of an upscale facility that is nicer than a traditional nursing home.

My experience with Ruston was that a client of mine lived there and I visited her twice a week to help her with pain relief massage. She was very happy there and her room was bright and cheerful. She had plenty of room to have her personal belonging and still have a private bedroom. Her kitchen was small enough to not get in the way or take up valuable space in her little flat, but it was efficient enough to let her make tea and begals in the morning and a little snack at night. The food was very good and she was very pleased. She spent her life cooking for her family. Her standards were high and they passed the test. The communal area was neat and clean and the residence was mostly ladies. They were good friends to each other, playing card games and sharing about their families. The nicest part of the experience to me was dealing with the staff. They really loved the people that they cared for.
