Living in Alaska the choices for memory care are VERY limited. When my father suffered a TIA it advanced his mild dementia. He became quite aggressive and agitated. We quickly realized we could no longer handle his medical needs. After finding nothing available here in Alaska we looked to Oregon where my brother lives and there we found Chanteles Loving Touch. The staff is so caring and kind. Upon hearing our story they were able to quickly accommodate my Father. He has been there a year now and I have seen auch a wonderful change in him. They have his aggression under control and he he not nearly as agitated as he was. They are very good with him and always make time to chat with him and make him feel like he is a valued member of their community not just another patient. The facility is clean and has no unpleasant odor. My Father enjoys the meals, outings and activities. I would recommend this facility to anyone faced with needing these types of services.

We chose Chantele's Loving Touch & Memory Care because my sister-in-law wanted to go there. When I called them, I got a good response from the person who interviewed me for the residents. I went from there, got the application, filled it out, and faxed it over. They said they will accept her, so it went really easy from there on. When we moved in there, a young man was outside who told us that the office was in the next driveway. He then went in and told the people that they were there, so two ladies came out to meet us at the car. I told them that she needs to go to the bathroom because it's been a long trip; they said they'll take care of that and hand her off to somebody to take her inside the building. I signed the papers, gave them the check, and then they said see you later. We didn't go into the facility. It was noon and they took her in to introduce her to the people eating lunch, and she sat down and ate. We heard from her the next morning. She calls me every day and says that the food is good, but they're not like mine. She said they give her her apple a day as a snack between breakfast and lunch, so she's happy about that. They send us pictures of the room, it's a large room, and it looked clean. What I like is that the people are so nice and so easy to work with. She said she likes to play bingo, and that was one of the first things she got to do. She told me that she got to win four pieces of chocolate candy. It's institutionalized food. You make a lot of it so it doesn't taste as good.

The person I'm taking care of lived at Chantele's Loving Touch Memory Care. The staff was unprofessional. I'm the person's legal guardian, not her power of attorney, and the staff member didn't seem to understand the difference. They were providing medical care and making decisions that were not theirs (but mine) to make. The rooms are clean, homey, and had a nice presentation. They had some recreational in-house activities. The dining area was homey and comfortable, howver, they could use more professional upper management who are trainined on legal manners and public relations.
