This small little community is such a gift. So many smiles and joy on the residents' faces. They have a lovely courtyard with a view of Pilot Butte, which also has some nice hiking trails and benches for picnics with family. They also have a wonderful security system in place for the safety of your loved one. These people truly care about the well-being of their residents.

The rooms were small & under stimulating. The food was hit or miss but lots of undesirable chunks of meat scraps & always gooey Turkey. The quality of care was relatively non existent & inconsistent. Some of the staff were incredibly condescending & had very controlling demeanors without actually caring for the residents.

My mom has moved into Cascades of Bend. It's good because she's near the hospital and all of her doctors, so that seems to work out best for her. Everybody recommended that place, and they seem to have very good facilities for her. When they first got my mother in there, they did some medical reviews and decided what was best for her. They decided she was in pretty good shape, so she didn't need a lot of care at this point. Her doctor was there within a few days to check on her and decided she had some chronic back pain, so she was going to get some therapy for that. So they're going to set that up for her. And then they also did some orthopedic and some nurse work on her. So immediately within the first week, they did a lot of medical reviews. My mother was having a little trouble walking at first, so they brought her food for the first week until she felt okay walking to the restaurant. But now she is walking down there. It's a nice restaurant. She likes the food a lot. Regarding activities, it seems like they've got some good athletic facilities for them. That's going to be good for her. They have some nice outdoor gardens, so she's going to start hopefully walking out there. They have a nice little library with a lot of books and a nice game room. They also have a memory care facility if my mother ever has to move to that, so that's another positive for her. She is having memory issues and forgets a lot of everything, so she may need that. My mother loves her room. She's got a nice room. It's small for her but it doesn't have a stove, which is great. She has a microwave and a small refrigerator, so that's good for her. She has a bedroom and a nice bathroom. The bathroom does have a sit-down seat, but she is able to stand up now and take showers. It looks like a very nice room for her, so she's happy now.

My mom was a resident of Cascades of Bend. It was good. My mom always had good things to say about the staff. Everything through Covid and stuff, it's tough. They get short-staffed, too, but she never had anything bad to say about the staff. They were always helpful and she made good friends. She had a pretty good deal because they were remodeling, so no other place could really touch the price that she was at because she's in a two-bedroom. In my experience, those staff were always helpful. She was pretty happy there. They have activities. She did bingo. They always put out a weekly schedule. They always had something going on getting together. They had one pretty big space with the TV and library, and they had small spaces around the hallways that had books, and puzzles, where the residents could work pm together. They have a courtyard. I saw residents out there taking care of the plants and stuff. They change cooks. The food's good.

Cascades of Bend was extremely large. It was very nice and very well maintained. The staff was wonderful. When I brought home some information after I looked at it, my brother-in-law wasn't too interested. I don't think he wanted to be in a large facility anyway. You walk in and they give you a tour and everything. It was very nice. The units were very nice. Everything was clean. They have anything you can think of. They have an activity room, a workout room, and a huge dining area. I was very impressed at how clean it is.

I cannot recommend this assisted living facility to anyone. My family’s experience was absolutely horrible and tragic. After researching care homes in Bend, I felt confident that we had made the right choice with Cascades for my husband, a healthy 78 year old with care needs related to Parkinson’s that were beyond what we could provide at home. Cascades appeared to be a well-run facility with a caring staff. Wrong, wrong. Even though Cascades performed an exam prior to his admission, after the first night I was told my husband had to leave the facility because he was a falls risk. When I saw him that first morning, he was unrecognizable and the stench of urine and feces was overwhelming. He was completely disoriented and his pants were around his ankles. The room was in a state of total disorder. The staff looked on, without any idea of how to care for him. I personally cleaned the room. My husband experienced 9 more days of the same, after which he passed away. We still don’t have the death certificate (4 days later). During these 9 days, he was given 1 shower (by me) and was shaved once (also by me), despite a care plan that called for a daily shave. He was dehydrated, had lost five pounds, and had stopped eating or drinking. He lived in his final days in an uncaring environment and died in a very undignified way. It sickens me to say all of this. Amazingly, when we were called and told he had passed away, we rushed over to Cascades. Surprise, they had cleaned his room and opened the curtains. But he had no top on and they missed his soiled adult diaper in the corner of the closet. I am angry and disappointed and sad and say all of the above to advise anyone considering Cascades for their loved one to consider options. I am devastated by the loss of my husband of 46 years but mostly that the last 9 days of his life were spent in gross neglect and completely unnecessary.

Cascades of Bend Retirement Community is an older building, and I stayed there for 2 nights. It was very comfortable. The room where I stayed was a 2-bedroom with adequate storage. The 1-bedroom didn't have enough storage. The food was excellent, and they had a very good chef. I played cards one night with some of the men, and they had a question and answer thing which was also good and well-attended. The people there liked it very much and are satisfied to be there.

My mother-in-law really liked the apartment that was available. She liked the view and the way it was laid out. It had been remodeled, so it’s fairly new. We also liked that they have a residential care wing. She’s in the independent living, but if she gets to the point where she needs more care, it wouldn’t be a huge move since it’s just around the corner in the same building. We just really get a good feeling from the staff and the residents we’ve met.

My mother-in-law will move into Cascades this weekend. She liked that it was a smaller community. She went last bpring break to go through it, and she was very pleased. She will be in the independent living, but if she needs more care further on, then we can add further care. She was very impressed with the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. We had complimentary lunch, and everybody was very nice. Her room was very clean, and she said it was perfect for what she wants. She has a great view of Butte and the courtyard. They have their own bus and schedule doctors' and medical appointments on certain days, go shopping, and do outings. They have an activity room, a movie room, a library, and a chapel. She liked that it was not cramped and not overwhelming to her. The food was excellent, and I was very impressed.

Everything we have experienced so far has been good at Bend Villa. The staff is helpful. She has got a 2-bedrooom unit with a living area, a very small kitchen, and a nice bathroom. It’s homey. The food is very good, and they’ve got quite a few activities like arts and crafts, movies, cards, and happy hour once in a while. The location is good, and the fact that mom has had friends that have stayed there before is good.

I do not Care for this facility the care staff are overworked and underpaid. I would never allow my love one to ever live there! Also the cleanliness of the facility is questionable.
