"We went to Traditions of Beavercreek yesterday. It's an excellent facility. The facility itself was neat and clean. The staff were very cordial and kind to each other. I saw them helping several people. It seemed like there were a lot more people in the main building who were in more advanced stages than my husband and I. We are still independent. We looked at the independent homes and we're very impressed. It's a very good facility. They let us take home information about their activities and their menu. We saw their dining area. The lobby was very gorgeous. It was very impressive. It seemed like a really good facility."

"I toured Fairmont of Washington Township. The people looked happy there. Activities were going. The staff looked very helpful. They didn't look like the patients were just sitting by themselves. There was an arts and crafts room. The grounds were beautiful. It looked very light and airy when I walked inside and some places just looked very dark and depressing. The atmosphere was very nice. People were friendly. They walked up to my mom and said hello. The activities director just said hello to me, and if I needed anything, let her know."

"Brookdale Beavercreek has turned out to be the perfect fit for our loved one. Since the day he arrived (and multiple staff came to greet him and make him feel welcome) he has been happy & content. The complex is small, residents are kind and caring and the staff is highly involved. His apt is cleaned twice weekly, laundry completed and they are always cleaning & maintaining the property itself. He is encouraged to participate in activities and does so. Nursing staff is on it—great communication about his care. When touring properties, ask yourself what is the best fit for your loved one—we had a not great experience in a fancier setting, with lots of staff turnover. We highly recommend Brookdale Beavercreek."

"Stoney Ridge Senior Living looked like they had enough staff. They had a lot of people there that were from the housecleaning staff and nursing staff. It looked clean. If I would have made a move, that's where I would have went."

"My mother has been in Grace Brethren Village. It's a rehab facility, and we've been pleased with it. Her condition has deteriorated a little bit, even though she's progressing with her rehab. She has had a couple other things come up that complicated the rehab, although that's good, and they are continuing to work with her, and continue to say she is improving. They have kept the family involved with One Call Now's phone messages, and they did do a Zoom with family last week, just to get everybody on board on the current events of the virus, and the current events of flu vaccines and all that, that they will be getting together. All in all, we're pleased with the facility. They've got the PT and the OT that they're working with her with. They have some things that they can bring in that she can do. They are taking her down to the great room for meals to interact with other people. They have had facilities where you can take the family member outside for walks and view the grounds, and different things like that. I've been there a couple of times when she's eating, and it tastes very good. They're working with her and doing very well. She's had a couple of bumps in the road that they are working with and trying to get her through too, so that's good."

"Brookdale Englewood was excellent. They were very sociable, very concerned, and answered all my questions. They were very helpful and they still keep in contact with me by email. The apartments were nice and very clean. In some places, you go in and there's a scent, but at Brookdale Englewood, there was none. The staff was very nice and I also saw them interacting with the residents, which was good. They were very attentive. They have a social coordinator where they sing songs together and stuff. The lady there was very personable. They take care of their facility and it was very clean."

"The lady at Brookdale Centennial Park was very personable. I just got an email from her not long ago to ask me how I was doing and how my mom was doing. The apartments were nice and roomy enough. They had two different types and they were clean and set up nicely. The residents bring their personal items to make it feel more at home. I didn't try their food, but I saw what the residents were eating and they seemed to be pleased with the meals that they were getting. I had a relative there and she looked very good and well, and they're taking good care of the people there. She was enjoying her lunch. Their price is pretty comparable to the other places I called about and spoke to."

"We toured Fairborn Assisted Living. They were very friendly, and my sister was impressed with them. We went to the memory side, and they did not have any openings at the time, so she was on the waiting list. When we walked out of the building, she said that's where she wanted to be. All of us had a positive experience with them. The person who gave the tour took us over to the assisted living side as well to just kind of show us the first floor, which had the dining room and the living room area. They have an activity room and a patio that's enclosed, so everybody can go outside if they want to. It was a little garden area with a couple of benches underneath a covered overhang where the residents could sit and talk, which was kind of nice. We were out there for a couple of minutes. The memory care unit is a lockdown unit, and the residents are escorted to the assisted living side by a staff member so they can participate in activities whenever they want, and then they are escorted back to the memory care side. The family members are given a code to be able to get into the memory side whenever they want to come and visit, so they have access, but the residents that are there are locked down in case they have wandering issues. We did not go into the assisted living side of the dining room, but the memory care has a breakfast area there. They have 14 residents on the memory side, so it was big enough for 14 of them to have a meal together. From what I was told, the person who does the cooking makes meals according to the residents' tastes."

"I’m happy to leave a recommendation for The Danbury. My father was a resident there for approximately a year. His room was an awesome small one bedroom apartment and it had everything my dad needed. Stove, microwave and refrigerator. My dad loved that he called his home. The staff is awesome, very caring and responsive. And pleasing to interact with. The food was great. It’s like going to a restaurant sitting down. They bring a menu tell you the specials that they have today and the quality of the food was excellent. They made it easy to have lunch or dinner with my dad and I had it set up so when guest came to visit that they could get a meal ticket at the front desk and add it to my bill, so he would have someone there to still have lunch and dinner with so they all enjoyed their time while they visit with him. My dad loved the Danbury and it was easy for him, He would say I’m perfectly happy being here at home. There were couples that lived beside of him and across the hall. All the residents were friendly as well as the greeting staff whenever I would visit, It was always pleasing to go there. “It wasn’t like going into a nursing home” it was like going into a nice facility that you might be greeted by an elderly person in a tracksuit doing their physical activity walk or a resident on their scooter or a walker, but in a nice well-kept lobby and the dining area was right there to see as well. The facility is well kept where they have a barber shop, activity rooms, movie theater, and it’s the kind of place that if I was going to look for myself to move into being elderly. I would definitely go to the Danbury. The overall feel and the smell of the facility was pleasant not like most other type of Facilities that I had visited, so my overall experience was excellent. I could not have asked for a better place to have my dad to be a resident and as a son I was proud of where he was staying! Jim B Son of resident Bill B"

"The only experience I've had with Shawnee Estates Senior Living was going to an Alzheimer's meeting and getting a tour of the memory care with my sister. I was impressed with it. Everybody there is very friendly. They have activities, too. They even have pet therapy where people come in with pets, dogs, and cats specifically, to visit with the residents. Every time I go in, the residents are very friendly and acknowledge everybody who comes in. They just kind of greet people. I've been in some nursing homes where it looks like a parking lot for people waiting to die, and this is not one of them. Everybody in the staff seemed to be very outgoing, very committed to what they're doing, and very patient. They also offered us something to drink if we wanted it. The building was beautiful, everything was coordinated, and it was easy to get around. I've only been in the wing that my sister is going to be in, which they're still finishing up. They're still working on it, getting it ready for inspections and getting it ready for move-in. Other than a little bit of touch-up paint and a few things like that, it looked nice. I was impressed with that section."

"My mom was at Bickford of Middletown for respite for a week. The place was very nice, she was in one of those efficiencies that had a kitchenette. The bed was in the area where you have your chair or a TV, they had a bathroom and a closet, and everything was very nice. They also had a microwave and refrigerator. But right now, the length of stay for respite is a minimum of 30 days. The staff was wonderful with her, she loved it there. They had activities and cooking, and they were very attentive, they still call from time to time. I didn't try the food, but everything was homemade and Mom really enjoyed it and liked it. They had a place where you could go and get your hair and nails done, they have bingo, arts and crafts, and happy hour. They had kind of a meet and greet thing where they could go and sit and have coffee and a pastry, and just chitchat. They had a library where you could borrow books and drop off books and stuff like that too."

"We toured The Winfield at Middletown. They're a very nice place. I would move in there myself. We ask about the menu. We got to go down and see the cafeteria and take a tour of the entire facility. The rooms are nice. It's like having your own little apartment. You can furnish them with your own furniture, your own couch, recliner, whatever you want. They were spacious. Everything was very clean. They had a therapy room. The lady took us to a room and was so nice and explained everything about the facility, the pricing, and so forth, and what she had available. I wouldn't even call it a nursing home. It was immaculate. They're very reasonably priced too."

"Aaron's Garden Senior Living & Memory Care was beautiful. It was great. There was nothing wrong with the community, but we wanted a single apartment for my father. We did not want a bedroom where he would walk out into the hallway. It was a beautiful setup. He loved it as far as if he was at that point to go there at a different time, yes, but not at this stage in his life. The people during the tour were very pleasant. It's very clean. The common areas were very pleasant."

"Otterbein Lebanon SeniorLife Community is excellent. We went to various places. We saw standalone places, we saw places that were kind of like apartment situations, and we saw the activity centers and that sort of thing. The staff who gave the tour was excellent. They have about everything you need to have from houses and two-bedrooms all the way to nursing home setting. I saw one of the restaurants, a game room, the area where they play outside, and their little lake or pool or whatever. They're very nice. The food was excellent. I had lunch there."
