Our dementia training program was designed by Sharon Roth Maguire, a gerontological nurse practitioner with over 30 years of experience is demenita and memory care. Every staff member is trained for a minimum of 4 hours or dementia care training. Additionally, each staff member is required to complete an additional 4 hours of training for behavioral challenges with dementia. BrightStar Senior Living of Mason requires annual ongoing dementia training.

The new Common Ground Playground is within walking distance. We are close to Crossroads Church, Buffalo Wild Wings, Sweet Sinsations and the Mason Post Office.

Our standards are that we reach out to the resident, family and caregivers within the first 24 hours, 7 days, 14 days, and 30 days after each resident moves in. Additionally, we will hold family and resident care conferences quarterly and as needed for a change in care needs. We utilize OneCall to keep residents information and invited to community events. Monthly newsletters are sent out to the residents and monthly emails are sent out the families.
What is the care staff-to-resident ratio at BrightStar Senior Living of Mason during daytime and nighttime hours?
In our Memory Care neighborhood we staff one caregiver for every 6 residents. In our Assisted Living neighborhood we provide one caregiver for every 8 residents. Providing person centered high quality care is the utmost importance to BrightStar Senior Living. Over night our staff to resident ratios meet the Ohio Department of Health safety standards.

We do not accept any resident pets in our community.
What ongoing senior care training does the staff receive?
Our staff are required to complete a rigorous 2 week training program before they are permitted to work a shift alone. In addition the staff are required to complete monthly training. It is a Brightstar standard that all associates are certified in First Aid and CPR.
What safety features or security measures does BrightStar Senior Living of Mason provide to protect residents who wander?
The community is secure, including our accessible outdoor areas. We provide pendants to the residents to call for assistance. The minimum of a 2 hour check is performed by our associates, but with such low staff to resident ratios the expectations are that each resident is checked on more frequently.

BrightStar Senior Living of Mason plans programs for 11 hours a day 7 days a week.

Our Director of Health and Wellness assesses the residents prior to admission to ensure that they are placed appropriately and provided all of the care that they need to live their best life. Assessments are completed as changes arise or at the minimum every 3 months.

Special diets such as finger food and therapeutic diets are provided by our chef. Additionally, or associated can provide hands on assistance during meal times for our residents.

Nestled along a creek and minutes away from downtown Mason, BrightStar Senior Living is conveniently located to both I-75 and I-71. The new Common Ground Playground brings a multi generational approach right next store to our community. Crossroads Church of Mason, the Mason post office, Sweet Sinsations and Buffalo Wild Wings are right down the street. On the southern side of BrightStar Senior Living of Mason is a residential neighborhood.
