I will go no where else. I have been here over 17 times. I cant say enough about nursing staff, the social worker, the aides and physical therapy staff. The nursing staff on the 200 hall couldnt be any better than what they are and the same with the therapy staff. I have become friends with several of the staff.

I’ve been a patient of Altercare of Hilliard numerous times but my most recent time will be my last unless some changes take place. I also will stop recommending this facility to friends, family or neighbors. My past times were great but my last experience was terrible. Not only was PT and OT not what it had been in the past the manager lied. Most of the nurses knew nothing about the medications I was receiving and on a couple of occasions I was given the wrong meds. Another time a nurse dropped a pill on the floor and she bent over picked it up and gave it to me take. What happened to good old fashioned sanitation? The only redeeming factor was the food and for a rehab/nursing home it was quit tasty. I only hope the administration takes a deeper look into this current facility and please correct the errors and make it like it once was.

I have a friend who was admitted for physical therapy. She was promised a wheelchair, a walker and a bed that wasn't broken. After 3 days someone finally appeared to find out what she needed. She was unable to physically get to the bathroom and had to lay in her own waste. After a week in this facility, she still laid in her waste in a broken bed with no wheelchair or walker. She is a diabetic and there were days when she did not receive all of her medications. With a corporate office in California- why would they care even after I called and complained. I flew from Florida to Ohio, rented a car, took her home and cared for her myself. This place is pathetic.

While their rehab staff and speech are good, their nurses and aids are pretty bad and very unfamiliar with their patients at any given time. They use a lot of temporary and agency staff which is the problem. I witnessed some very concerning activities; an aid emptying the urine in the patient's G-tube container and putting it where the nurse would come and feed him from that same container! They use gloves to clean patients' butts and feces and then with the same gloves they touch patients' clean clothes, touch the pillow and oxygen and everything else.. I can't tell you how many times I had to ask them to please change the gloves or double glove prior to start the cleanings. They need a lot of education and training in infection control and simple procedures.

The rooms were clean, and they had a good balance of meals each day. My brother broke his hip and the staff was very patient with him. He had a lot of issues he had downs with dementia and was dealing with a lot of anxiety after the accident. The nurses, direct care, and pt team employees had a lot of patience with him. We were very pleased with all.

I was a patient here from March 23 2017 to June 9 2017. The staff are mostly friendly and caring. For the most part my call light was answered within 5 to 15 minutes. I have waited 30 to 45 minutes in other facilities. I had two concerns. One was I had to be very assertive for them to give me my two showers per week. Excuse were no time and the other shift was responsible. Two was agency STNA's. Most were kind however one was rude and uncaring yet after patient complaints they continued to use her. The facility has a high turnover of STNA's so they don't have enough working many shifts. The taste and quality of the food varies. All in all I was having my basic needs taken care of and I had a good rapport with most of the staff.

My mother was a patient twice after surgery for rehab. The facility is very clean. The rooms are private for rehabilitation. The other rooms for skill care are okay, the patients are across from one another allowing for more privacy instead of side by side. The nursing staff is caring and work hard. Compared to other places she had been this is one of the better places. The food was fair but they do try to meet clients special diets. I would recommend this place for skilled rehab after a hospital stay or surgery. .

NO STARS VERY VERY VERY POOR!!!! Don't send anyone to Altercare of Hilliared Rehabilittion. They did not take care of my mom, they weren't changing her, they were not getting her out of bed, they put the call button were she could not reach it. I had to threaten to call a squad the day she was seen by one of their doctors and was left struggling to breath. She was taken out at 5:15 she was dehidraded when she got to the hospital and passed at 4:50am of SEVERE SEPSIS. I had told them from the previous Sat to when she was running a fever of 101.8 until Thursday when she was taken to the hospital that she was not breathing right, NO ONE WOULD LISTEN to me, all they kept telling me was her oxgen level was blah blah. It doesn't matter what her oxgen level was you had to be blind not to see how she was struggling to breathe, so how did a doctor see her on that Thursday and leave her like that. One of the signs of sepsis is breathing all ignored because they wouldn't listen to me & the place is was VERY SHORT STAFFED. Can't understand how a doctor could have left her struggling to breathe all day. I promise this all really happened.

Took my mom there for a mini stroke she was fine needed rehab for balance. They are horible with caring for there patience my mom would always click for assistance to go to the bathroom before she urinates on her self and mind you she is a risk faller and needs assistance they would take 20 or more minutes and we would talk to them over and over then a nurse came put her in the bathroom told her she will be back in a minute and my mom waited and waited for her to come back she got up and fell on her back her then on the floor for 15 minutes for tried to reach the string for the nurse bell on top of the toilet and on top of that they called me at 10am and she fell at 5am in the morning but anyways I asked for an X-ray they did do it but they said nothing. my mom was still in pain so I decided to take her out and go to the ER they did an MRI found she had a broken spine and had a bad UTI and a couple of more stroke so if you care for your loved ones do not put them there.

The staff here is super nice however they do not communicate very well. My mom has been in there twice now and we had problems with communication. The first time she almost died because they didn't communicate things to the family. The second time it took me several hours to get ahold of them to find out what was going on. They make decisions and do not tell you what the decisions are and why they're making them. I'm sorry this is my mother not theirs.

We have used this facility for rehab following major surgery on family members. I have also had friends there. It is clean, pleasant, professional, has good food, has comfortable rooms/porch for meeting with patients outside their rooms. Physical therapy maintained a regular schedule as did family treatment planning meetings. There is a nice walkway around the building but no enclosed courtyard. They do not take patients who wander. They have single and double rooms. The double is more like a suite as there is a wall between 2 large bedroom areas with a shared bathroom. It is the only facility that I know of in this area that will put married couples in the same room. A spouse with dementia can be there with a spouse that can help monitor him/her. I would recommend this facility, however, except for the above situatiion as they do not have dementia care capability in severe cases.
