"We went to visit Cornwall Manor because it didn't seem like it was a retirement community. They have single-family homes that retirees can get or apartments, and those are spaced out throughout the property. They're not all crammed into one place, and they have different kinds of apartments you can buy into, depending on what your needs are. There are a lot of amenities and we like what they have to offer, and they have an indoor swimming pool. The overall tour was very good and the staff that gave the tour was excellent. She was very knowledgeable, wasn't pushy, she says we take time to make our decision and she's willing to work with us. The facility was very clean and well kept."

"My mom is in skilled nursing at Lebanon Valley Home in Annville. They allow visits by appointment because they have a very strict Covid policy. Their staff seems very, very nice and I think she enjoys the attention she gets from them. They redo her hair all the time and I think she likes that. I have no complaints at this point. She's only been there about two or three weeks. She's also in hospice right now so she is not in very good shape anymore. She has dementia, too, to some extent. It's by appointment only so we aren't allowed in her room unless it's an emergency, where they think she won't make it or something like that. We meet either in the courtyard outside or in a room for a presentation inside. It's not cheap, it's pretty expensive, in my mind anyway. I think all nursing homes are too expensive. They're right up there with the most expensive. To the best of my knowledge, they have activities. I think they might have a chapel too."

"Phoebe Berks has all levels of care.... I think it seems like a nice community. HOWEVER --- the memory unit also known as "Village Gardens" is WONDERFUL. The way it is set up is there is a common area in the middle with a TV area and dining area. There are a few other TV areas as well. Off of the dining area they have a nice out door court yard. Residents need a worker to take them out. The unit has a real homey feel. And the staff are excellent and love the patients and take good care of them. They have several activities through out the day geared for people with memory problems. I have real peace of mind when I leave because I know my Mom is being well taken care of. "

"My husband is at Phoebe Berks and I'm just going to keep him there. It's an excellent place. I don't know if it has anything to do with Phoebe Ministries or not, but my husband needs skilled care and so I paid the fee for a month. He can't walk, so they have to use the Hoyer lift. He obviously needs the skilled living and he has dementia, and he seems to be okay at this place. I talked to him yesterday, and he sounded good. The food was okay, he says. It's a place where they can buy a home and when that gets to be too much, they can move into an apartment, or as they get older and more health issues come up, it can all be done under one umbrella. They have to help him to eat sometimes if he's having a bad day. There are people there who can help him eat. I'm real happy with their care. I'm assuming that everything's okay since I cannot be visiting. Every time I call, the nurses are most friendly and if I don't talk to my husband, they tell me how he's doing, whether he's not eating today or he's very tired. Everyone who answers the telephone has been super friendly. If you look at ratings for that place, I think they're all gonna be 5 stars. They said he was gaining some weight. It's a beautiful facility. I'm not there to actually see what's going on, but I'm sure that everything is just fine."

"My mom moved into The Gardens at Stevens. The staff has been wonderful. One of my mom's complaints is that she's not crazy about the food. The facilities are nice, and she likes the activities. It's not the most expensive place we've toured, but we couldn't afford many of the places. So, for the money, the facility is adequate. We chose The Gardens at Stevens because my mom liked this place the best."

"United Zion Retirement Community is very clean and well-kept. Their food is very good. They could use a little more staff. They're very nice, but each person has plenty to do. It doesn't have a swimming pool or some of the health things that other places have. I think the cost is a little less because of that. It's very well established. It's been here a long time. They have local people doing the cooking. I know they have invited some of the people who are in independent living to come into the kitchen and help them prepare food. They allow some of that, such as green beans, that they just need to have the ends snipped off and broken into pieces, things like that, not necessarily things that they would need to use a knife. I don't think they do a lot of trips and things like that. It's a very good value because it's a very safe place and very low key and I think that makes it very safe. There's nothing here I would improve. It's very secure. I chose it because of availability and reasonable rates plus their reputation here in town is excellent. They will be opening a new building and have 36 new apartments."

"Pleasant View Communities was very lovely, but it's more expensive than what we wanted to pay. They have a lot of good programs. There were bus trips that you could take, like to the grocery store. They have a dining room, a pool, and equipment that you can exercise. They have a lot of good things going on there. It's a very big home and they are now building more homes. The lady that took us around was very good, but we didn't meet any other staff. We ate in the restaurant that they have there, and that was very good."

"We picked out Mount Hope Nazarene for my father in-law. It’s a nice home that’s good for his low income. It wasn’t fancy, but it was clean and had a very caring staff. The clientele looked to be quite pleased and werre really treated as family. The staff was willing to take the time for each specific person. It’s been a pleasure talking to them, and they were very helpful, assisting, and did their best to get him a room. It was very clean, and when you go in, it smells good. "

"Mom has been in the independent living part of Lebanon Valley Brethren Home for 15 years and will be moving soon to the assisted living section. It is a very good place. Mom is the second generation in her family to stay there. It's been great. It is very clean and extremely well maintained. They have been very responsive, and we don't have any complaints at all. They just built new apartments that are really magnificent and beautiful. "

"My father has been at Audubon Villa since April 2011. They have all single rooms which is very nice to have your privacy. He is receiving very good care and the nurses and aides are very caring, helpful and nice. They listen and address all his requests. He also enjoys the good food & selections. When I have questions the nurses are very willing to listen and give me updates or guidance. Audubon Villa is a very small facility located on Broad Street in Lititz. For our family it is very convenient. My father was at another facility I won't mention and we were not satisfied. We are very glad we made the change to Audubon Villa. As a caregiver you have a lot of decisions to make and they are not easy and often need to be made very quickly when someone is in the hospital. I would recommend checking with Audubon Villa if you have a loved one that needs that special skilled nursing care. "

"My grandmother is currently a resident of this facility. My grandmother recently had a stroke while in their care. The residents called my father right away. They set her up with physical therapy to help her with any damage done during the stroke. When I have been over to visit her everyone calls her by her name. When she stops and introduces me to any of the workers, they always send time asking me questions and pretending it was the first time they met me. I have also witnessed the workers with other residents. I have never seen a worker not address a resident by their name. There is a nurse there who my grandmother always talks about. Apparently this particular nurse spends time with my grandmother and has even played Scrabble with her in the nurse's spare time. I would definitely recommend Moravian Manor to any one searching for a place for their loved ones. The people who work here definitely take the time to know and care for their residents. "

"We frequently visited Luther Acres. We have a relative there. She was in independent living with her husband. He passed away, and now she's in personal care, but it was all done seamlessly. It's a great facility. Her room is small, but that is more due to her own choices. She moved from a pretty nice-sized cottage to there. The food had lots of variety. They wait on you personally, and it's just a nice dining experience. It's large and it's all inclusive. The staff was always welcoming. They used technology for their security, which was good for a huge place like that, so I appreciated all that. It seemed like they had a lot of things going on. They have a pool. Parking was fine."
