"My grandmother has been a resident in the assisted living center a few times. Sometimes it is just temporary due to her need for rehab after surgeries or injuries. We can not say anything negative about her care at Ellis. She was treated with the utmost respect. I have CNA experience myself, and was very pleasantly surprised by the care and compassion I saw at Ellis. Everyone was treated with dignity and my grandmother was thrilled with how private everything was kept. "

"My parents moved in the Park Place on October 17. It is clean, it doesn’t smell, and it has a lot of sunlight which is good. It has a decent-sized dining room for everyone. They have activities like bingo, card games, dominoes, and a lot of board games. I haven’t tried the food, but I went there when they were having dinner, and it looked pretty good. "

"My granddad got sent to this place and I had no idea what to expect. I got there and it was a small nursing home on a hill. The staff was friendly and the rooms were smaller than I expected but the care that my granddad got was very good. The nurses worked together with rehab to help get him back on his feet after his knee replacement. So its not that bad of a place and if granddad had to go back I would consider this place again. "

"My father has been at this facility for nine months, and I visit nearly every day. It is no longer privately owned; now it belongs to a small chain based in New Jersey. In general the care is good. The nurses do not do much hands-on care; they mainly dispense medication. The CNAs are competent and have learned to handle my father fairly well. He is always clean and they track his eating and toileting. I have never heard raised voices or seen staff handle patients roughly. We have run into the frustrations one expects in an institution. My father's denture plate was lost for a week, then mysteriously reappeared. Response time is slow; if he needs the bathroom or has another request, it can take half an hour before anyone shows up. Communication is spotty. Thank goodness for a wonderful nursing supervisor who is our go-to person for any issues. The food is good, and Briarwood makes an effort to welcome families--family members are welcome at meals; there are special holiday dinners for families; etc. Bizarrely, the place was recently "redecorated" in a way that makes it far less attractive--cheap-looking, uncomfortable stiff chairs in the lobby instead of a welcoming couch; ugly wallpaper in about 12 different patterns. I appreciate the small size and the fact that all the staff know my father, so I can leave him in various areas knowing that he will be tended and returned to his room. It's also located in a very lovely residential neighborhood where we took many long wheelchair walks in the summer. "

"Victoria Haven was very nice inside. It's small. It was originally a privately owned home; so it's furnished very nicely, and the floors were all the same including the dementia area downstairs. They're all very nice, and homey. The staff was very nice. The admissions woman was right on top of things, and I met the head nurse. They've been very helpful. I'm happy with them so far. They were singing, and they have a lot of things. They have a few men in there, so they're going to get a men's club where the men can sit to chat. "

"Hebrew Rehabilitation Center is very good with great decorations. The staff is very friendly, very helpful and very knowledgeable. They have concerts for the residents. The only problem I see is the parking. Parking during the day is sometimes difficult to find. I haven't tried the food there although my mother-in-law seems to have no complaints with it. They do have a good cafeteria downstairs if you don't like the food being served. They have some activities, concerts, and some entertainment at least once a week. They even have a synagogue right inside the facility. "

"I am a current resident who was greeted warmly and treated like I was at home for the last two years. The environment is clean and the staff is attentive, very caring and treat me wonderful like family. I have no complaints and would recommend Charlwell House to friends and family. "

"I know Wingate well. It's a skilled nursing facility located near my home, and I've been there many times to see a social worker who works there and for community group events. It's on the corner of two busy streets--good for car access (and it's easy to walk to some commercial areas), but parking can be an issue. The facility is classic skilled nursing: 142 beds on 2 floors. It's fairly grand and attractive, and well kept up. The dining room is big and open, and the activities room is large and open, as well. Patients' rooms are average size and mostly shared. But there are a few private rooms. There are also private baths. The physical layout is good. The nursing station is at the center, with corridors on each side. And there's good access to outdoor space. The quality of care is good, too. The rehab unit tends to be very good. All the ancillary services--social services, speech therapy, OT, PT--are very professional, with on-the-ball people. Nursing is also good. One downside: The caregiver to patient ration could be better. Patients can wait a bit after they hit the call bell. Also, the personal care assistant staff isn't highly educated. For many of them, English isn't their first language. The patients I know who were there recently, though, were fairly happy. They got good care--just not immediate response. "

"My wife passed away at Armenian Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was only there for a week because she was very ill when she was admitted. I checked a few places, and I liked what I saw there. It was very nice and very clean. The staff were very cordial. They did an excellent job. She was in a room with one other patient. It was nice and suitable. They also have a TV room and a deck they can go out on. I was there when the food was served. It seemed good. I didn’t eat, though. They have a big dining hall where they serve food, and they serve it depending on the patient’s needs. I would highly recommend them. "

"My Mother has end-stage Alzheimer's Disease and the Stone Institute and staff are taking extraordinarily excellent care of her. The Stone Institute is, in my opinion, the BEST nursing home/long-term care facility in Massachusetts. "

"Not the worst I have seen. Night staff could have been far better. Lack of care for residents. Under staffed at the time. I don't think that the rules are the best for the residents as there is no snacks in the fridge at night for the ones that get up, they are put in bed to early and then told to rise far to early due to lack of morning staff to get them up. I know that the "Patient rights" are posted in the front as you walk in but most of the residents don't know what their rights are. And often when they say they don't want to get up are made to anyways. with the logic that the patient doesn't know what they want. So if they have rights why can't they can't they enforce the? "

"My husband is now at Laurel Ridge Rehab Center. The staff is supportive and caring. They do a good job. They have mainly three residents in a room. They also have two semi-private rooms. Each bedroom has a bureau, a bedside table, and a TV. Each three bedrooms have to share a bathroom."
