My husband came home from two weeks of "rehab" in such serious condition that he was admitted to the ICU the next day, and died in the hospital. His feet were dirty, his dentures hadn’t been out of his mouth the whole time, he had a serious rash, and he had severe sepsis from two preventable infections. He was supposed to regain strength to go through chemo, but he never made it that far. Horrible neglect!

I couldn’t help but pay tribute to this special facility. I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to all of the nurses and staff at Southwood at Norwell nursing center the dedication and care my mom received exceeded all expectations. I always thought that excellent care starts at the top with a great administrator. A very caring and compassionate administrator. Her professionalism and commitment to truly caring about her residents and staff is outstanding. She was always accessible and accommodating to myself and my family. We were always welcomed warmly and made to feel we belong as well. But what touched me the most was how my mother was cared for in the last days of her life. The entire staff showed unending compassion and patience to both my mother and my family. I will forever be thankful and sincerely grateful to you and all who cared so lovingly for my beloved mother Elizabeth….Debra Cirigliano

They took excellent care of my Dad after he suffered a stroke. They were so accommodating with the food to be sure he ate something he liked. The kitchen staff goes out of their way to make the patient happy.
There are lots of activities. The people that lived there were very busy and very HAPPY. They were clean and dressed everyday. When you would met them in the hallway they would talk to you and you could tell they enjoyed their "home".
I knew when I left that my Dad would be well taken care of by the wonderful group of nurses and staff.

After visiting just once I realized that this was an incredible choice. The faculty are top notch, the facility is homely and everyone is always friendly. My aunt was enjoying herself and that was the most important thing to me. Furthermore, the service they offer is so important to these folks that it made me happy to see how seriously they took their jobs. Aside from the staff, they provide an awesome food service. I can’t say enough about it, I really enjoyed eating their myself. Not only that, but if you look at people their they seem happy and content. My aunt raved about how she had made new friends and felt like she had purpose, and this made me feel great. I highly recommend Renaissance Garden to anyone looking for an assisted living home, you can’t do better than this place!

My mother was transferred to your Braintree sight on Friday evening from a hospital. she is recovering from the Corvid virus. She was placed in the Alzheimer’s unit Windsor . she does not have Alzheimer’s, guess it was the only room available. We were so pleased to have her out of the hospital. Unfortunately it has been a nightmare for her and her family ever since. She was asked to be quit and go to sleep, don’t call us and her help button string was removed the first night so she couldn’t call for help. My mother has Parkinson’s disease. She had an adult diaper but on, so they didn’t have to toilet her or use a bed pan. Today they put a towel over her face to quiet her. last evening I had to call them at 6:45 becasue she hadn’t had her dinner yet. The aid said she had and when he went to check she hadn’t! I understand this is trying times for all of us especially the health care industry. I gather they are shot staffed and I feel for the employees applaud their endeavors. But abuse is abuse. I feel for the residents that do have Alzheimer’s and no family members to speak for them!

In September of last year, I was going down the steps of my deck and fell. It was a nice summer evening and I was in a bit of a hurry. After falling, I knew that something was broken since I could not walk as it was too painful. It turns out that I broke my ankle in 3 places and had surgery the next morning. I live by myself and needed subsequent care and rehabilitation. I went to Kindred and stayed there for 2 months. The staff was very nice and most of the nurses and doctors were very good at what they did. There were a few drawbacks. There was a woman in the room next to me who had her tv on very loud and it disturbed me. (the tv’s do not have headphones) I mentioned it to the nurses and they spoke to her about it. It was ok for a few minutes then she turned up the volume once again. I believed that she should have been in a room where she would not disturb other patients. The other drawback was that the facility was understaffed but most of the workers were good at what they did and worked very hard. The other drawback was the doctor who treated me at the facility. I saw him only 3 times during my stay and he acted as if he was in a hurry and didn’t care about my welfare. While I was there, I met a few very nice people and still visit them there and talk to them on the phone.

Financial Assistance for Nursing Home Care in Brockton, MA
Many seniors and their families use some form of financial assistance to help them pay for nursing care. The main options available are Medicare, Medicaid, and veterans benefits. These programs can be complicated, especially when it comes to benefit terms. Below, we give a brief overview of how these programs may be used towards paying for skilled nursing care.
- Medicare: Medicare will typically cover all skilled nursing costs for the first 20 days of one’s stay in a nursing home and a portion of the costs until day 100. After 100 days in a skilled nursing facility, Medicare will not cover any part of the cost of the stay. While this is adequate when short-term care is needed, those in need of long-term care will need to either pay out-of-pocket or use another source of financial assistance.
- Medicaid: Medicaid covers most of the costs of living in a skilled nursing facility for those who qualify. Care, room, and board are covered with no time limit, but residents may be charged for extras like specially prepared food or cosmetic services. Medicaid eligibility standards are strict and complex, so not all seniors are eligible for Medicaid benefits.
- Veterans Benefits: Veterans receiving a VA pension may also be eligible for the Aid and Attendance benefit administered by the VA. Aid and Attendance is a monthly allowance that beneficiaries may use to pay for their long-term care, including skilled nursing care.
If these options aren’t available to you, check if your loved one has long-term care insurance or contact your Area Agency on Aging to ask about any local financial assistance programs for seniors.
