My relative will be at St. Joseph Manor Health Care for respite. The people were friendly. It seemed clean. They seemed to have a lot to offer for activities. I pretty much just talk to the admitting lady and then the receptionist when I go up there. They were very nice. It seemed like a newer place. It was clean and bright. It seemed like a welcoming atmosphere. I only saw a hallway, the lobby, and the room he would probably be in. It was welcoming. It was bright. They had a big jug of water in the middle of the lobby with lemons and limes and coffee and tea over on the side. The receptionist was there all the time. He would have his own private room, which was adequate.

My husband came home from two weeks of "rehab" in such serious condition that he was admitted to the ICU the next day, and died in the hospital. His feet were dirty, his dentures hadn't been out of his mouth the whole time, he had a serious rash, and he had severe sepsis from two preventable infections. He was supposed to regain strength to go through chemo, but he never made it that far. Horrible neglect!

My husband was a veteran, so the VA paid for his nine-week stay at St Joseph Manor. It didn't cost us anything for him to have a private, sufficient room. The staff was excellent. The food was good, but he wasn't eating at the end.
