Concerned caregiver

My parents is in a single room. I'd say the room is spacious, bed is small and out dated. My parent has been in the facility for a little over a week 1 week to get therapy for strength. Dr ordered 2 times a day and they refused to do therapy in the morning and afternoon per doctors request! Also my parent has been in this facility for that time comming from the hospital and they have not done any ACTIVITY OF Daily living. My parent has not had a shower in 1 week and 2 days. Staff seems caring for the most part but also un reap9nsive when questions are asked reguarding medication changes. My parent is also in the same clothing that he was in 2 days ago. Care plans are weekly and on their time they won't accommodate towards someone who works and they are always in the middle of the early afternoon around 1. It's OK for them to be late but God forbid your late they will just fill you in later! The food is less that desirable for my parent. They also haven't been quick on answering call bells. The same call bell has been going off for 25 mins. I don't know if they are short staffed or what but I would be leery sending you loved one here. It's not the worst place but definitely could be 100% better comming from a once licenced LNA who changed careers! This is not how you treat your clients!

I recently spent 80 days the staff was great very responsive to all of my request, I attended weekly meetings with social worker, heath care providers, physical therapist to discuss progress or lack of progress They arrange home care thru the VNA that included PHYSICAL THERAPY and Ocupational therapy and offered other services if needed My experience at Laconia Genisis was better than expected

My mother was a patient of Laconia Rehab after breaking a hip. The facility was terrible. The room was a single room that had been converted to a double. The bed was barely big enough for her. After two nights, the family couldn't stand it anymore, so we brought her home. The staff seemed caring, but shorthanded. There are very nice single rooms in the newer wing, but those are reserved for those who choose to be unvaccinated. I wouldn't send my dog there.

My family member was a patient here. Horrible communication, team members who just wanted to hear themselves talk, terrible care for my loved one. I would NEVER let anyone I cared about go to this facility!

I like the Genesis Laconia Rehabilitation Center but they didn't have enough staff. They seemed fairly stretched out on the staffing, though the staff that they did have was very pleasant. I think they have too much to do to give extra attention. They didn't treat mom like a princess, but they took care of her needs. I didn't feel like they had as many activities as her current community. It's in a lot better condition as far as being updated including the building itself compared to the other place I toured. I ate a lot of times there with my mother, and the food was very good. The room that she was in was very nice and the atmosphere was also nice.

At first sight the rehab facility seems nice but after spending a few days there helping to care for my Mom, I saw the real story. From over medicating her with insulin to lack of personal hygiene care, this place is an elderly person's worst nightmare. I inquired about their showering procedures there and was told by the social worker, that "typically it's once a week". This is totally unacceptable, especially considering the fact that she had contracted a C-diff infection from their facility. And after she re-infected we discharged her for her own safety. The best word to describe this place is "toxic".
