I like to walk around Harris Manor. Staff, who are unaware that I am there, are pleasantly interacting with residents. They take pride in making Harris Manor feel homelike, both in decor, and in their attitudes about the freedom and flexibility a home offers its occupants. There are beginning of the day routines--awake up, eat (with two morning options), medications, handing out day's 'necessities.' Residents come and go, with only the need to check in and out. The menues, and the meals that I have seen, are nutritious, attractively served and are foods the men seem to like. I called at 5:45 a.m. One person answered the phone quite cheerfully, and then conferred with another about a question that I had.

HELLO, UPON THE FIRST DAY AS A RESIDENT, THE FIRST DETAIL I NOTICED THAT IT SEEMED THAT AT LEAST 85% OF MY FELLOW REIDENTS WERE DOING NON-STOP BEGGING FOR MY CIGERRTES. IT WAS A HOT AUGUST WEEKEND AND NEXTWHAT I REALLY NOTICED WAS THE LACK OF FLUID DRINKS THAT WAS SERVED. A EIGHT OUNCE OF KOOLAID AT 10:00 AM AND ANOTHER AT 2:00 PM. NEXT WAS THAT FOR SOMW STRANGE REASON THE MED. TECHS COULD NOT GET ANY OF MY MEDS IN FOR 26 HOURS, INCLUDING MY PAIN MEDICINE, (MORPHINE) INWHICH I WENT INTO A SEVERE WITHDRAW. THE AIDES STAYED IN THE OFFICE THE ENTIRE SHIFT LEAVING POSSIBLE HARM TO THE RESIDENTS. THE TIMES THAT THEY DISPENSED MEDS WAS NOT IN ORDER WITH THE STATE GUIDELINES. THAT IS-MEDS EVERY 4+ HOURS. EXAMPLE WAS AM MEDS AT 9:00 AM AND NOON MEDS AT 11:00 AM. THE FOOD WAS COLD AND SKIMPY AT BEST. IT WAS CLEAR THAT A GOOD PERCENTAGE OF THE RESIDENTS WERE EX-CONS AND FELON. A RATING OF POOR IS NOT EVEN ENOUGH.
