My mother is at Samaritan Bethany. It has been very good, that's why we're hoping that she can stay there. It's a lovely facility. The building is very nice. My mom's room is spacious and clean. The staff has been great, so we've had a great experience. I've been there when she's eating. It's set up like each little area is called a neighborhood, so they are set up like a home. They have a beautiful kitchen and do cooking there. My mom is very happy with the meals. When she was in rehab, she was doing a lot of physical therapy. They have been a little restricted because of COVID, so they're just limiting the activities to the residents only. They have a lot of activities and happy hour. They can go to church. They have a hair salon and pretty much everything my mom needs.

My friend has been in Samaritan Bethany for two months now. That’s long-term care. She was in assisted living, but because she had a lot of pain and they had to get her on some heavy narcotics, I didn't feel comfortable leaving her in assisted living. So, now she's in a long-term nursing facility, and it’s much better suited for her situation. As far as I'm concerned, it is the best nursing facility in Rochester. They’re very good nursing care. She is on the sixth floor, and the care coordinator has been there 16 years. The nurse that is her nurse during Monday through Thursday has been there for 14 years and their Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nurse has been there 12 years, and their caregivers have been there 13 years. It's well-staffed, and it’s a good facility. Very good communication. Very good cleanliness. It’s a newer facility, so every room is a single room, and the rooms are in pods, and the kitchen is right on the floor, and the caregivers prepare the meals. It's a wonderful facility. I have not tried the food but my friend has been very satisfied with it. On the weekends, they have a registered nurse on duty at all times and are always fully staffed. It’s just a very good facility. I’m quite comfortable with their facility. No long-term care is cheap. I had her in a rehab facility that was asking for the same amount of money per month and their staff had a turnover situation almost weekly, and so basically, I'm quite happy. Of course, the amount of money with full-time nursing and the type of care that she gets is double assisted living, but that's not unusual for long-term nursing facilities.

Samaritan Bethany is one of the best in Rochester. It's the cream of the crop. For a skilled nursing home, it is top notch. It's excellent. The experience is wonderful. Even with COVID going on in March, they had a bed, they settled my husband, and everything has been fine. We still have to be screened. They're very, very careful because of COVID, but I have no complaints. It's a wonderful place. The staff is wonderful and friendly. They treat your loved one like they are one of the family. It's very nice. All the rooms are private. The food is OK. I have no complaints. Residents have a private room with their own shower and so forth. They're not really large, but they're big enough. My husband has a lift chair in there and his scooter, and there is still room for his wheelchair. He has a corner room from which he can watch a lot of activity, but they're all private rooms and all about the same size. Price-wise, it is all the same; it doesn't matter what floor they're on. He's on the fifth floor, which is wonderful. There are six floors there, so he's up high, and I couldn't ask for a better room. He doesn't complain about that at all. There's a lot of activity to watch out his window when he's in his bed. He can regulate the room's environment; he has his own temperature for air and heat, which is awesome. He has room for a TV. The shower is very nice. They have the handy aids, and that's why he's there. The EasyLift stand is what my husband needs. They do the very best with the help they have. It's wonderful. They're very busy, but they care, and they take their time. They do the best they can with what they have. I bring a lot of his food from my house. My husband is kind of a fussy eater. The residents have all different health issues, so it is kind of bland, but you can add salt and pepper, and overall they do a pretty good job. He doesn't have too many complaints with the meals. You get free, underground, heated parking; it's wonderful. The lobby is big. Nursing homes can smell, but this one does not smell like a nursing home. It's very good. Right now, with COVID, they don't have any activities. (My husband doesn't want to do the activities, but they have them.) There is music, bingo, and people who come in and play instruments.

I'm familiar with Samaritan Bethany. I had been there before. It has good nurses. My mom would be in a semi-private room, which we thought was imperative because she likes to talk. They have meals for people who can get out of the rooms and go down to the dining room. They have 24-hour nursing care. They would be able to help my mom with her activities of daily living pretty much. My mom is not able to dress herself. She needs help ambulating. She can use a cane or a walker, but she has to have somebody with her or she'll fall. She's 96. So we were looking at that and the proximity to her old home in Rochester. Her support system up there is comparable to what we have here in Arizona, too. She has friends in Rochester, too. Samaritan Bethany is centrally located and that seems to be the best way to go. They don't have a pool, but they have a courtyard. It's definitely a skilled nursing facility.

I had rehab at Samaritan Bethany Home on Eighth for 12 days. Everything was excellent. They had a community dining hall and three meals every day. It's like ordering off a menu, which they cooked right there. The technicians were terrific, and PT was really good. I got out of there sooner than they expected. My room was large, the bathroom had a large shower and you could get a moving stool in there. They had terrific aides that gave or help you with showers. It's a great place. The nurses were great. Every Friday, they opened a bar and you could get free drinks in the lobby.

I have visited Samaritan Bethany. It was very nice. My friend has loved ones there but they were not able to participate in any activities. They did their own thing.

The staff at Samaritan Bethany Terrace is very welcoming and friendly. The living conditions are really nice. It is attached to a nursing home so if my dad needs that, it’s right there. We like the looks of the apartment. I think they have a shuttle that will bring them to the doctors’ appointments. They let them have breakfast in the morning as part of the fee and housekeeping once a week.
