The maximum amount of residents IGHC will ever have is four. This is a small AFC home that believe in the quality of care and not the quantity.

Residents will be able to enjoy making baked goods with staff and other residents. Staff and residents will have an Art and Craft day for residents who are willing to participate. There will also be game day. Staff and residents can enjoy games like bingo and memory games. There will also be karaoke day for residents to enjoy.

Dyer Senior Adult Club is near Inspiring Generations Home Care. This facility is not walking distance although it is near. Dyer Senior Adult Club provides activities for the elderly but due the pandemic IGHC will provide activities in the home to make sure residents are active and enjoying themselves. Staff would like residents to always enjoy themselves but also stay as healthy and safe as possible. IGHC must follow state and CDC guidelines regarding COVID-19. Health and safety is IGHC top priority.

Staff will cook the meals at Inspiring Generations Home Care. Examples of meals that will be provided to residents are french toast, sausage, chicken casserole, goulash, soup and salisbury steak. IGHC will provide desserts for residents, such as pie, cake, pudding, applesauce and more. Staff is aware all residents may not be able to eat some desserts/food due to a medical reason, such as diabetes or allergies. If a resident is unable to have a certain food due to a medical reason, staff will provide a different meal/dessert for that particular resident.

All doors at Inspiring Generations Home care, leading to the outside, has alarms. Sharps and medications are locked up. This is a ranch style home so residents will not be going up and down stairs which is important to help prevent falls. This home is also well lit in order for residents to see to get around.

Inspiring Generations Home Care believe in families being informed of their loved ones' care. IGHC will call families by phone or facetime families if they prefer. Staff can discuss with families regarding weekly phone calls or twice a week phone calls, whatever is helpful. Staff is more than willing to discuss with families how often/much they would like to be contacted especially during this pandemic knowing how difficulty it is for families to see there loved one if their loved one is in a facility.

Staff-to-resident is one-two staff to four residents. Quality of care is very important to the IGHC, so if there are days two staff members are required due to the need of the resident there will be two staff on duty instead of one.

Inspiring Generations Home Care does not have a live in pet but family is welcome to bring their pet in to see their loved one. Their pet must be friendly, not aggressive and preferably on a leash. There is a gated back yard if the family would like to sit outside in order for their pet to enjoy outside while. If the pet has an "accident" please clean it immediately. Please inform staff prior to bringing a pet to the facility just out of respect for other residents/staff. The resident/staff member may have allergies or a resident may not be pet friendly. IGHC would like to make arrangements for other residents if they are not pet friendly or have an allergy to pets. IGHC would like everyone to be comfortable while in the home.

Staff receives quarterly training in Alzheimer's and dementia. Other quarterly training provided/required is CPR, First Aide, Fire & Safety, Infectious Disease and Bloodborne Pathogens, Supervision and Protection, Personal Care, Medication and Resident Rights.

There are one to two staff members on duty during the day and night.

IGHC has a gated backyard. All doors have alarms that will give a warning if a resident tries to leave out the door.

Inspiring Generations Home Care has daily activities for residents who are able to participate like puzzles, memory games, light exercise, music/karaoke. IGHC also offer Sunday service for residents who would like to participate. Activities like music can help with long-term memory. Staff will have residents listen to music they're familiar with so they can sing along. Residents who would like to participate in Sunday service may remember scriptures or songs which will help with long-term memory.
Who assesses residents' health and cognitive functioning? How often is that assessment repeated?
Inspiring Generations Home Care has a house doctor that does house visits to assess residents when they are first admitted to IGHC and throughout their stay at the facility. The owner of IGHC is also a nurse and work closely with the residents. She will be able to determine if there is a decline in the resident's physical/mental status along with staff. If there is a decline in the residents cognitive function the doctor will be informed unless the doctor is already aware of the decline. The resident's legal representative will also be made aware of the decline. The State of Michigan requires yearly assessment plans. This assessment plan documentation sheet requires information regarding changes in a resident's mental/physical status be documented. This form must be completed each time there is a change in a resident's mental/physical condition and yearly. IGHC also has a form that must be filled out when there is a change in a resident's mental/physical status.
What techniques does Inspiring Generations Home Care use to support memory care residents during mealtimes?
Staff offers finger foods for residents who are unable to feed themselves using utensils. Staff offers a variety of textures of food. For example, if french fries are being served for lunch, one resident may want mashed potatoes instead, so mashed potatoes would be served for that particular resident. Inspiring Generations uses dishes in a variety of colors. Staff also encourage residents to eat for those residents that may wander from the table during mealtime. For residents that must be fed, staff will inform the resident of what food is being given to him/her while he/she is being fed.

The owner of Inspiring Generations Home Care is a nurse by trade, so she believe in families knowing any health changes that occur regarding their loved ones. The owner will contact the resident's family herself or staff will contact family of any concerns or changes that may arise. If a staff member contact the family member, the owner will do a follow up call. Changes in a resident's condition is logged. The owner will also speak with family on how often or when they would like to be contacted about their loved ones' health.
