"I toured Layton Terrace Senior Living. It's a good place, but I was just disappointed because my dad couldn't get in there. When we first walked in, it was all clean, and everybody was good and friendly. It looked really good that way. No problem. The one who toured us was a man who used to be in there himself, and then he retired, so now he is still helping them out. He was pretty good at telling us everything about the facility. However, they wouldn't let us go see one or two areas because I think we were too late or something, so I wasn't too happy about that."

"I had an in-person tour and it was very good. The staff showed me a room that was going to be available, and they told me some of the things that were going on. But what I want is not available yet, so we have to wait a little while. Other than that it was very informative for me and helped in my decision. The facility was very clean. It was lunchtime, and they were very busy helping the patients get their lunch. When people in the memory care unit were asking questions they were always answered in a positive way. The aids were not affected by being asked the same questions. They were never rude to the patients, which was very nice. The staff was friendly. Everybody was doing their job. It was a very nice facility. Even the room that I got to see seemed to be quite adequate, and something that I would feel comfortable having my husband go to."

"It was just way past what I needed. Some of the people there even have dementia. I was there for 15 minutes, and the young lady that showed me around said, "This isn't for you." I don't want to live in a place where I have to get permission to walk out the door and have it locked on me. It took me just a few minutes to realize that it wasn't for me; just the simple fact that you'd need a wheelchair to go from place to place. The staff was showing me things, and then took me into a room and sat down and said, "I don't think this is for you. I don't want to waste your time and I can tell you this isn't for you." There's nothing wrong with it. It's just not for me, so she was very nice about that. The people there have different types of health problems, which I know is the human factor. It was very pleasant and very clean. What I noticed is that there was no smell of urine. It was totally cleaned up. I saw people going to meetings, people getting together in a club, and some of them were eating lunch. It was just like a normal day. They showed me the independent living and we walked through rooms, up the hallway, and through all of the different places. There's an area going out to the patios where they have places for people to see and do things. I met many other staff members too, and all of them were genuine and friendly. They're very pleasant and nice to the people. They're very caring as well."

"I was very impressed with Harbour Village. I liked the layout of the two-bedroom apartment and just the way the place seemed to be kept up. It's a much older building, but it is well-maintained. They had wide hallways and easy access for wheelchairs. Everything about it had a good, homey feeling. It seems well planned. I like the amenities that they offer. Even though it's an older building, the rooms don't look like that. They keep them up and refresh them. While I can't speak directly for the meals, it sounds like they have a good meal program. The staff was very cheerful. The rooms were just a little tight. The dining area was set up with tables from two to four to six to a couple of big tables. It was set up so that people could eat together or be more alone if they wanted to be. I know they were playing bingo when we were in there. They were going to go to a Milwaukee Milkmen game. I saw the list of activities for the week, and it was pretty full. It was a nice, friendly feeling. Their location is excellent for us. It was every bit as good as it looked on the internet, and you can't always say that for internet pictures."

"My aunt stayed at Discovery Commons Brookfield, which was very nice but pricey. The people who worked there were wonderful. The facility was new and clean. It was state of the art, but parking was also a problem there. The rooms were smaller than the ones I looked at for my mom, but they were very nice. They did have very nice walk-in showers with a seat hanging from the wall, which was very nice so my aunt could be independent in showering herself. I ate lunch with my aunt, and the food was very good."

"I toured Auberge at Brookfield, a memory care facility. The staff gave me a packet with the pricing and everything. He also showed me around the facility. He said the doors have a green something on them, so he showed me that and how it works. The fencing is all the way around the whole complex. They have four stations where they can watch TV and other stuff like that. They have art for them. They take them out on excursions. The staff also explained to me that if my mom were there and ended up having to go into a hospice, she would stay there. Then, the doctors and staff would come and visit her there, and we wouldn't have to take her from there and then put her in the hospital. So, I like that. They make all their meals there. They have an area where we could come in and cook whatever we want to. They have a beauty salon, and my mom likes to get her hair and nails done, and I love that."

"We have placed my grandmother-in-law at Oak Park Place Oak Creek. The price is cheaper. It is a newer and nicer-looking facility. It's one story. We had a family member who was also staying there. The staff is friendly and attentive. Everything looks nice. There's a courtyard, an eating area, and a card room. There are restaurants and stores nearby."

"We visited the Brookdale Brookfield Woelfel Road's memory care, and they seem very good. It's just that it's a much bigger facility, and we are looking for the individual care that we're going to get in a smaller group setting. That was the only thing. Otherwise, my wife and I were very interested in staying there. The rooms we saw were adequate. They're not there for entertaining people, so they're not big. Parts of the facility are a little bit older, but they're redoing a lot of things right now, so in the next couple of months, some areas are going to be refurbished. Other than that, it's very clean and neat. The dining area was very nice, attractive, and clean as expected. The parking is all outdoor parking, but it's fine. They don't have much staff turnover, so there are people who have been there for quite a few years, which says a lot about the place."

"I toured Oak Hill Terrace Senior Living. The gal who toured me around was wonderful, and the residents were friendly. The facility was very clean, but it was an older facility. The one downside was that the parking for visitors outside was very poor, but otherwise, they had a lot of activities. I was given a calendar with the activities, a menu calendar, a price catalog, and the dimensions of all the rooms. They were beautiful-sized rooms, much bigger than I expected, and nicely set up. However, the bathroom could have been updated in the shower area."

"My brother was supposed to go to Oak Park Place Wauwatosa but he needed more care and they didn't have that level of care. But I like this place and the rooms were nicely laid out with lots of light. The administrator was really caring and really impressed me. It would have required for my brother to be more independent. The person in-charge was very accommodating and really impressed me. The room that was available for my brother was really perfect but he just couldn't do it anymore. He was going to be on the first floor which was assisted living but we had to raise the level. They had activities available on the first floor as well. The place itself was just so nice and the manager was so accommodating. They had a very nice dining room and very nice little sitting areas for visiting, not a big living room but just little areas which seemed so nicely laid out. They also offer activities, they have a gathering time where people would gather in the little dining area and I have observed some of the clients that live there. It just seemed like a very pleasant atmosphere. The staff who accommodated us really impressed me, and he struck me as someone who's very caring. He does his job very well and seemed to know the needs of people in his care."

"The reason I chose Lutheran Home for my dad is because I needed a memory care skilled nursing-physical therapy facility that could move into long-term care if I needed it. And I needed a facility that could provide my dad his own private room throughout all of these because treating them in a dormitory-style when these people are older is not fair to them. They're used to having their own space as adults, and I wanted to give him that dignity of having his own bedroom. He had a dog, and also my mam passed two and a half years ago, so he had gotten especially close to his dog. And this facility allowed that dog to come and visit him as often as he wanted and needed, which was huge. My dad was very religious. He's Roman Catholic. And though this was a Lutheran-run facility, they had Catholic service on Wednesdays and communions twice a week so he could continue participating in his religion. And there were many activities and interactions for those in the memory care ward. The food looked appealing. My dad ate primarily the sandwiches and the soups. He loved the soups. And he got a little bit more difficult, so they would send me a menu each week and I could pick exactly what he was going to eat, and there were some substitutes. It would have been nice if they had more substitutes, but I worked with the staff and we made it work, and I appreciated that from them. And I was able to bring in my own meals. and they would provide those to him. The staff members were fantastic. I was watching how they were interacting, not only with my dad, but also with the other residents, and they at all times treated everybody with respect. I never saw them ignore any of the residents in the memory ward. They were always doing their best to ensure that everybody was safe but also spoken to respectfully. And that goes a long way in my books. The other thing I will say is that my dad passed this past Monday, and the love that they gave to my dad, but also to me, during his final hours, I'll never forget. During those three months that he was there, he had developed a family with those caretakers, and they really cared for him, but they also cared for me. They're very expensive, but you get what you pay for. They're at the top-end in terms of cost, it's not a cheap facility, but if you can afford it, it's worth it."

"I love Brookdale Brookfield Capitol Drive. I thought that it was very clean. The staff was incredibly friendly. It was very welcoming. I enjoyed the place, to be honest. They had a couple of different areas where people were able to gather, like in the front, when you first walked in, there was a place. There was also a TV room and an activity room. It was very nice. The apartments were a very good size, especially for somebody who needs memory care. They were very clean. They were able to be customized by yourself. They even have little things outside of your room, almost like a shadow box, to describe the resident. It was cute. It's just out of our price range and insurance will not cover it. The staff was incredibly welcoming. It was almost like a family environment. The place hasn't been updated in a while. However, even with that, the place was very clean. It smelled clean. You could tell that they all took pride in their space and their jobs."

"My mom is in Oak Park Place Burlington. She is settled and happy. I'm very happy with them. It's clean, inviting, and safe. The people who work there are lovely and give my mom the attention that she deserves. The food looks good. They have a chef. The tuna casserole wasn't so great. It was dry, but my mom ate everything. She is nonverbal, so she can't give me any opinions. They're always doing activities. It is worth every penny. She was paying the same amount of money in a facility in Morris, Illinois and this is like tenfold better. I felt like she was very neglected at the other place and she was not kept clean and for the same amount of money or just slightly more, she's getting so much better care here at Oak Park Place Burlington."
