I was visiting a friend here. The place is active. Short-term patients were on one part of the building, and long-term permanent people were on another side. The staff was communicative with the patients and the visitors.

My husband stayed at this facility last year following a serious UTI, and after a very bad experience we had to leave to go to a hospital emergency room. He had been there for about 3 weeks, receiving minimally adequate care, though the physical and occupational therapy were good. On the last weekend he was there an incompetent and hostile nurse was supposedly taking care of him. She refused to empty his catheter though it obviously needed it, and he was having pain which she ignored. On Saturday night the doctor was in the building and I first told the nurse we needed to have him see my husband. Not having confidence In her, I also told the receptionist at the door that we needed to see the doctor before he left the building. This did not happen and we were extremely worried. When the catheter was not emptied by the next morning, we packed Tom’s things and left. When we arrived at the Annapolis hospital emergency room they checked him and said it was a good thing he had come or he could have been in serious trouble. We would not recommend this facility to anyone.

Hire better staff and people who cares. Don’t try to keep patients mediocre. Don’t give them blankets with fresh soil on it. Make food trays more appealing.

The food is not good and is Luke warm! Why are visitors being allowed to come in when your COVID numbers are high? It doesn’t make sense—don’t you agree?

Since Autumn Lake acquired Crofton Convalescent & Care the summer of 2021, everything changed. Lots of staff turnover, a lack of communication between staff, etc. They built a nice covered patio for the residents’ use, but then kept it locked. Bed landline phones would get unplugged by staff making it hard to communicate with residents. Turnover in the Activities staff meant sometimes there were great activities available or virtually nothing going on. The rehab staff seemed to do a good job, though.

My mother was a resident in the long term care side and moved in last May right before Autumn Lake became the owner. It used to be called Crofton Care. The food and care has gone downhill with new owners. They are short staffed and my mother was neglected. She had bedsores from not being repositioned, she had diaper rash from not being changed, and she often did not have her teeth brushed or a shower. I noticed they kept moving the good nurses to the rehab side so I think the care is better than long term care side. Nights and weekends were the worse

Horrible care, management is not helpful, staff is unavailable. Relative was not properly cared for, not checked on, nobody would respond when the nurse button was pushed, not property bathed, groomed. Patient left rehab care from this facility via ambulance and ended up in hospital for infections not related the surgery/rehab originally admitted for.

Our family has had an elderly relative in this home for two years now. We have been amazed at the quality of care that she has been given and how clean, bright and cheerful this place always is. During the current crisis the devoted staff is going above and beyond to care for their residents even knowing they themselves are also at risk. God bless each and every one of them!

It is top-notch. It is a great facility. I would recommend it. I liked it, and if my mother, my wife, or I need to go, we will be there. The place did not smell like urine, it was clean, and it had beautiful and big rooms. What I saw, I really liked.

They were very accommodating even though I didn't make an appointment with them when I visited. We just walked in while at dinner time and they offered my husband if he wanted to sit and have dinner with everybody while this lady took me into the office and talked with me. They were open and like, "Sure you can come in" or "Have a meal with us" Those types of thing. I saw their food and it looked good.
