Grand Cove Nursing & Rehabilitation Center

I went to Grand Cove Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. It was a nice community. I didn't taste any of the food there, but they toured me around the facilities. Very easy. It was all contained in one building. Very logical. The staff was extremely helpful and nice. It was kind of one of those once they got the information on Dad they realized that he was going to need a bit higher level of skilled nursing than what they offered.

From the outside, Grand Cove Nursing and Rehabilitation Center looks OK. The facility is pretty nice. When you go into the main entrance, everything is updated and nice, and the people are friendly. But once you start touring the facility, the semi-private rooms are not great. The rooms that they had available were in an area that needs to be updated. It didn't have central air conditioning on the wall, and water is leaking from one of them where the floor was wet. It looked like it wasn't kept up really well. It was just not something I wanted to put my mother in. The staff was nice. There are no private showers. You have a community shower and then you have to get on a schedule and you get to get a shower two or three times a week. You didn't have cable television, internet, or anything. They have Wi-Fi, but that was it. Anything like that, the family would have to pay extra before they put them in. Even though the price of the facility was more than the other facility, we had to bring our own TVs and of course, furniture. They had a worship center. However, they did not point out an activity center or room, which the other place did. There was nothing like that. You didn't see any activities going on. If it is there, they did not show it to us. There are courtyards, you can go outside in certain areas. But I didn't see any of that. The dining area was not bad. I haven't tasted the food but it smelled pretty good. The staff was friendly and cordial.

The staff were always nice to me whenever I came to visit my grandmother, and she constantly still tells me some stories of the nice things they did for her. The only time I heard her complain about Grand Cove was when the cooks were not doing their jobs correctly and would burn the food that they served to the residents. She got up and complained about it and they fixed the problem. Other than that, Grand Cove was a great place for her.

In this facility, there are numerous activities and accommodations for all of the residents. Rooms,including bathrooms and entire area is always clean. The staff are very friendly. They have meetings with family members to update any info and ask concerns. The outside of the unit is well kept and inviting. They are overall a very caring facility and I am well satified with their approach to take care of my love one.
