My mother is in Hickory Creek. What I like best is that the other residents have been warm and welcoming to my mother. There is a bond there with the other residents. The staff is kind and they are courteous, but they are short staffed, they are overworked. And. It is a long-term care facility, I think it's what you would find in any facility. I eat dinner with my mother every night. I think the food is good. It's nutritionally sound. My mother happens to be on a pureed diet, which is not pleasant to the eye, but she says that it is good. What I have is just a regular diet, and I would say that it is good overall. They do clean the dining area. Every day they mop and sweep the dining area. It gets congested and very crowded at dinner time, and loud. And Mom has trouble hearing. So the loudness is a negative factor. If I could change anything, it would be that it was not so loud, with dishes clinking. It's not the residents that are loud. It's serving the food and cleaning the dishes off the tables, which is very loud. The reason why we went to Hickory Creek is that it is small and it has a basic homey feeling whenever you go in. It feels homey. It's exorbitantly expensive for someone on a fixed income.

My husband was at Hickory Creek for a while, but he was more than they could handle. It was a nice senior community, for what it was. They had piano players that come in, play bingo, and had other activities that most senior places have. I thought the place was clean, and the people were nice and did a good job. The food was good, but there are days that they weren't very good though most of the days were OK. They had a therapy room but it wasn't like a normal therapy room. We also saw their dining room. They had an outdoor porch in the back and in the front, but there's not much to do outside. The rooms were awfully small for two people. They didn't have a bathroom in the room; it was across the hallway.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. They were very caring for here especially when she started to really get worse off. The environment its self was very clean and bright. I talked to many residence and all of them were extremely happy with the care they were being given and the moral support from the staff. I have had many dinners at the home and the food was always great and healthy. It is fairly centrally located and therefor easy to get to. they also provide trips to the residents and family, things like bowling and such. they have many activities to do around the home. they have board games and bingo and all the things loved by the current older generation. I would surely recommend this to any family going through the tough time of finding a place for parents or grandparents to stay. They will make the process easy and you will know your family member is in good hands.
