"We chose Covenant Living of Golden Valley. We liked how happy everyone was, the involvement of people in the community, and the interactions that people had with each other. The residents were just interactive, happy, and welcoming. It just depends which room you get. Some have laundry, some don't, and it depends on the size of the room. But one thing about them, there's a buy-in option, but you can redecorate your room how you want it before you move in."

"I toured Ridgepoint several times, and the staff was very helpful. The rooms were clean and nice. There’s a room for art and a dining area that looked very clean and professional. "

"I was very impressed by the Ecumen Seasons at Maplewood. The staff was very responsive. It's a beautiful facility with beautiful grounds. I just couldn't look at the rooms, because there were no available rooms. I kind of walked past the rooms and from what I saw, they looked really pretty. They have a little kitchenette, but they're not allowed to have an oven or a microwave for safety reasons. It looked like a new facility. It's got a beautiful exterior. It was two or three stories tall and they had little ponds, a bridge, and an outdoor sitting area. They also had a spa, a party room, an exercise room, activities, and church services of various denominations."

"Augustana Chapel View was very nice and very clean. The meals were well prepared and seemed like they had a lot to offer. The staff was very nice. The gentleman that I met with was very nice, very receptive, and very willing to help. The rooms were all double rooms. Some people were sitting in the central area where they were having a news program and different readings. They had activities, an exercise room, occupational and physical therapy, and speech therapy. "

"Arbor Oaks looks really nice, and it's really open and big. I like the openness that they had. There is a big area for them to sit in and lounge near to their eating area. The hallways were big for people to pass and get through. The rooms were decent. It's a newer facility. You could go upstairs in the elevators. They had eating areas that you could come in. They had lots of games that they did with them. The dining room was very nice. I like that the rooms had a built-in shower bench, and it's very personal. The staff was really good. "

"Everything about the Farmstead is fantastic. The staff is very good, and their meals for my mother-in-law are exceptional. They've got lots of activities, and she likes it, so we are all happy. "

"It seems that the apartments at The Homestead at Anoka were a nice size and geared well for seniors. They have patios on all units, they have parking inside, they have carts down there so you can put your groceries in it and then take them up the elevator to your room, which I think was very insightful. They were playing bingo in the dining room when I was there, but they gave me a sheet on what activities they had, like card games and others. The staff I met were fine and friendly too. The only negative I have about the place is that it's huge and sometimes walking is difficult for me."

"Elk River Senior Living was very nice. They were very friendly, it was a beautiful place, but cost was an issue for us. It was brand new. We would have been the first people moving in. It's gorgeous, but my mother-in-law felt like the bedroom was small. They have a library and transportation."

"I visited Benedictine Living Community Anoka. They were very caring. Our experience was very pleasant. The staff was very friendly. The rooms were reasonable. The atmosphere was quiet. It was like our number two choice. We liked that one. They've got everything. They do tours, and it looked like it'd be a pleasant place. It's three floors and they had a large dining area on the main floor. They had a care unit there, so if somebody needs advanced care, they've got that there, too. They were going to do renovations."

"It is a better building, and it looked nicer. I liked the fact that it was obviously clean -- spotless actually -- and they welcomed me. It was very open door and hospitable, and the staff was very polite and honest. They have patios, and they showed me a room of what my room would look like. They had happy hour, they were serving liquor, and I just really liked it."

"We visited Riverview Landing for independent living and assisted living. The apartments are very homey, whereas everywhere else felt like they were an apartment. The views from the apartments here are gorgeous. And they offer the same services as everyone else offers, but we've been there three times now and every time, there are always residents out doing their activities. And these are not just assisted living residents, but also able independent seniors, which is huge. They also have a wellness center that has a heated pool and a gymnasium and all sorts of classes. They have a library, they have a pub, they have a chapel, a beauty salon, and massages. They have manicures and pedicures, underground paring, restaurant-type meal plans, and a game room. They have two big outdoor patios with barbecuing facilities, then they have a mile-long nature walk that goes along the Mississippi River. I asked a bunch of different residents about it and no one said anything negative."

"The apartments in Margaret Place were very big and nice, and they have various activities. I saw the little café on the main floor and the laundry room. There’s transportation for the residents that takes them to their doctors’ appointments too."

"My sister is in Autumn Glen Senior Living for 15 months now. It looks brand new, and it seems to be very clean. She has a studio apartment, which I think is fairly efficient. It strikes me as small, but it seems to suit her just fine. It has its own bath, and it has a little kitchenette. My sister seems to enjoy the staff quite a bit, too. She thinks they're helpful. It seems there is some turnover there to me. In the supervisory positions and so forth, they have a pretty steady group of people, but the staff as a whole tends to turn over a little bit. She gets a lot of care, but we pay a lot of money, too. They have an exercise room, they have a pool, and they have programs that promote exercise among the tenants. My sister has participated in activities. They play some cards and other games. She knits and they have a knitting club there. They try to have something going on all the time. Maintenance is very good."

"Crest View Senior Community at Blaine is a brand-new community. It's very nice, but the cost is prohibitive. The staff member who showed us around was very nice. They have all kinds of amenities. The room we saw was very nice, it was very light, and there's enough room for what we needed. Their dining room was very clean and bright, the outside of the community is also very nice, and there's plenty of parking. It homey and friendly, and the staff was very nice. The residents were busy eating when we were there. Overall it was nice."
