Independent Living Communities in Cottonwood, AZ

"We are moving to Windsong Villas at Good Samaritan Society-Prescott Valley into their independent care. We have looked at a lot of the different possibilities around here, and we found it to be the most economical. The staff was friendly. They're wonderful and helpful. The food was good too and just enough for us. One meal a day is plenty for us. It's not fancy, but wholesome. I think the layout is very good. They seem to be very helpful and very conscientious about their place. The location is ideal for us because it's in Prescott Valley, where we've lived for six years. We didn't want to leave the town. It's right downtown near all the amenities too."

"I will be moving into Touchmark at The Ranch. It is a one-bedroom apartment with a good-sized living room, a decent-sized bedroom, a good closet space, and an outdoor terrace. For an extra fee, I was able to rent a storage room down in the basement. They have a built-in health club that you automatically become a member of. They have a swimming pool, hot tubs, and massage tables. They have parking available. What I like about the facility is that I can live in my independent living apartment for as long as I can do it. If I should deteriorate, and when necessary, they would move me into a comparable apartment where the facility is more to my needs. They are all seriously interested in protecting their clients. Everyone I've met has been courteous, polite, and concerned. Of the facilities that I have personally seen, this is the best. They have three restaurants. One of them is a very fine restaurant open to the public, and it's expensive. But they also give you a monthly allowance to use. The physical facilities are top-level. They have movies, occasional concerts, a calendar of events, and transportation into town."

"Mom will be moving into Alta Vista. It really fits her kind of lifestyle. She had lived on a ranch the previous 40 years, and Prescott's a real ranching community. It's a smaller community, and I live in Prescott, so it just fit everything we were looking for. We're probably going to go ahead and put her in assisted living. She's doing really well, but we also think that at some point she's gonna need more help. We really like that they have both independent and assisted living. We think the mix of having those is going to be helpful for her. We saw people outside of their apartment interacting with each other and attending classes. There's a beauty shop for getting their hair and nails done. They have a lot of activities and things. The staff was very helpful. We actually had lunch there, and it was very good. They have two different dining areas. One is very convenient. It's on the assisted living side, so it's a little bit smaller, but just lovely, and had a very nice setup. They have a nice selection of food. The other restaurant is upstairs. It's all windows on the one side, and it has a beautiful view, so it seems a little fancier."

"Good Samaritan Society is quite a large campus. There's a lot of things located very close to the independent living, like hospital, grocery stores, and pharmacies. They're well-known throughout the United States. The person that I did speak to was very helpful. It's also Christian-based. I very much like that; it's Lutheran. They offer a lot of things. "

"My mother-in-law is in Las Fuentes Resort Village. They have beautiful grounds, good food, and friendly people. They have monthly activities and group meetings. They have a courtyard and a patio. It's on lovely grounds with pine trees, and it's well-maintained. The facility smells nice when you go in. My mother-in-law hasn't complained about the food since she's been there. They have two dining areas: one for residents and one for when residents bring in the family. Both of them are very lovely. The facility is very pretty, and it's in a nice location. It's always clean and neat."

"We loved Granite Gate. It was more of an upscale place. The staff was excellent and all very helpful. The rooms were very nice, modern, clean, and spacious. It had one common dining area; I would have preferred two or three dining rooms for variety, but it was nice. The common area was very nice down near the entrance and had a beautiful setting. I thought they were a bit limited in activities. "

"Casa de Pinos is an apartment. They're all alike, there's forty in this building. Where I'm going, the building is not that big. It's nice. We have a laundry room downstairs and a community room up here. We have the safety phones to ring 911 if we need them and the emergency light available if the power goes out. It's a nice place, I just don't like the climate out here. I've been here seven years and I don't like it, it's too hot. We have just a manager and maintenance man around; they're really nice. They have coffee Monday mornings, an exercise morning, a Bingo day, but I don't go to any of those events since it doesn't really interest me. "
