I'm in a nursing home called Centralia Manor. The experience was very good, but the food was debatable. Because it's a big nursing home, by the time it got to my area, sometimes it was cold. Other than that, they came when you turn your light on, and they gave you showers when you needed to get one. When things get squared away, and instead of going into assisted living or anything like that, I've considered going into a nursing home if they're pet friendly. I have a cat and an old dog, but I do know that they have them, so that would be one of my options. I liked some of the staff, and some of them I didn't, but I think that's normal in any situation. They acted like they cared about the people and that it wasn't just a job. The facility was clean. They worked all the time keeping the floors clean. It didn't have an odor like some of the nursing homes. They were very, very good about keeping things clean like the bathrooms, the floors, and everything. Food was simple and it wasn't fancy. They had a salad that I ordered all the time in the evening and the cooks noticed that I ordered it all the time, so one evening, when I got my meal, I have a big bowl of that particular salad, which I thought was very nice that the cooks paid attention to what the patient was eating.

I wouldn't take mom back to Centralia Manor. She was there two years ago and when I went in to see her every single day, it was like they got her up and she was pushed in the corner in a wheelchair. She wasn't assisted at all in eating. She's got glaucoma and macular degeneration and they didn't even push her up to the table where she could eat. So most of the time she just sat there. She didn't like the food. The outside looked great. The inside was average. Medicare took care of the payment, but I wouldn't take her back there again.

My mother was sent to Centralia Manor for rehabilitation post hospitalization. During her stay I left money for her to get her hair done once a week. It was never done. I was told that they would contact me for a patient care conference to keep me updated on her progress. Not once did it happen. On the day that her “Medicare Days” expired they called me and said that my mother was being discharged the next day. I went to pick her up but she couldn’t stand, even with assistance. She was worse than when she left the hospital. We had to place her in another facility. As a Family Nurse Practitioner who performed nursing home rounds, I was shocked and extremely angry with everything that happened at this very poor facility.

My dad was hospital dumped by Centralia Manor. The admitting person-Kim- has a power trip. She bad mouthed my family to Barnes Hospital saying that she did not want my father back because "his family was trouble". My mother is a retired nurse and she complained about the bed being too small and requested an extender that never happened-- dad's feet hung 6 inches off bed. (He's super tall 6"7"). Apparently, family members are frowned upon if they complain. Kim is unprofessional, the lady at Barnes was even shocked by her negative comments that were out of line and sounded personal. We don't even know her.

My father was in Centralia Manor. The first time he was there it was OK, but the second time he was there, it was not so OK. The food and the coffee were always cold. He was not happy and was very dissatisfied the second time. The people were friendly, and the staff was pretty good to him. It wasn't really the staff; it was more about the food and they wouldn't let him get up and walk around, so he sat in his room all the time. He was very dissatisfied with that.

I was a patient on two differen6t occasions and found the facility well maintained. The staff was helpful, and caring. The adminitrative staff was reachable and availabe. The physical therapy personnel were professional as well as personable. Like any other work place, too much of a work load is put on employees
