"We went to Brookdale Stanwood. I would rate everything the same as the other place with the exception of it being an older unit. The rooms are a little smaller, but the core of what you need at that point in your life, they had it just as good as the other place as far as the people interacting, how they care about their people, and how the organizations run. As you're walking around, they acknowledge each other. There's a camaraderie. The dining area was open and good. It's an older building, but it's clean and well-maintained. They offered meals and changed the beds and the linens and all of that. They had activities."

"My father is moving in at Covenant Living at the Shores tomorrow. They have been wonderful. We have several family members and friends who have lived there for a few years. My dad is joining them, so we're happy. It's beautiful. It's on the lake. He is moving into a lakeview apartment with full care options, which is everything from assisted living to hospice. So, we're hoping this is the last move for him. His apartment is beautiful. They completely remodeled it with new carpet, new appliances, and new paint. The food is very good. My father is very excited to just be cooked for, so he doesn't have to cook himself. He said the food is very good, and that's what he's looking forward to most. They have a separate lodge with the dining room for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. They have a beautiful workout room with a view of the lake. They have music programs. They have committees. You can join a committee and have a voice in the activities and the community. I think there's over 300 residents, and there's always something going on all the time. They have a program that if you run out of funds, they will let you stay there. They have a scholarship program that you can stay there till the end of your life. You do pay upfront, but then you get a percentage back. It's expensive, but it's absolutely worth it. He can stay there indefinitely."

"Brookdale Admiral Heights was on a really busy street. There weren't any balconies, and there was a small garden, but it wasn’t cared for, so it didn’t look inviting. It was in too busy of an area for my mom to feel comfortable in with too much road noise. The staff was excellent and spent a long time talking to me about everything. I was very impressed. "

"Brookdale West Seattle was a terrific facility. It was almost brand new. They had great staff. They had lots of open spaces and 2 outdoor gathering places that were really nice. They had wonderful activities going on. The residents were very, very friendly and welcoming to us. Lindsey assisted us with the tour and she was just focused on finding the right needs from my mom and assuring us that they can provide the care she needs. She showed us studios, a 1-bedroom apartment, and a 2-bedroom apartment. We did eat there and it was very good."

"I was really impressed with Sunrise View Convalescent Center, and I would have chosen this one. It also had skilled nursing, which was a good option should the need arise. I talked with the director and felt very comfortable. The place was well kept and very accommodating. I went to the skilled nursing wing, where the residents were well taken care of."

"I would give Arbor Village Senior Living a rating of 5 because of their professionalism and cleanliness. The staff members were very friendly. The rooms and common areas were clean."

"I lived previously at Chateau Bothell Landing. Everything was good at the time I was there. The food and the whole works were good. The staff was always willing to help any time I needed help. They were friendly. The food was excellent. They had lectures, movies, and tours. When I was there, the cost was fine. Now I can't afford it. It has gotten too expensive for me."

"We liked that Cristwood Park had a pool, a restaurant-like dining room, and nice facilities. They had a gym, a pool, two separate facilities for arts and crafts, and lots of activities scheduled. The staff was super friendly and helpful. The apartments were large and nice. It was a lovely place. It was well-maintained and clean. The residents seemed very happy. Everybody was really friendly. It was the only facility my mom saw, and she knew right away that it was the place for her."

"My mother is in the nursing home wing of Foss Home & Village. It is very clean, spacious, well-lit, and small, with only 147 beds. It was also the only nursing home that I could find that didn't have a two-year waiting period to do a Medicaid conversion. My mother's shared room is $9,000 a month versus $12,500, which is the standard cost of a nursing home in Seattle. The staff is very responsive, good, and they learned to respect her ability to direct her own care, which is probably the biggest challenge we've faced so far, because they're used to people not being able to make their own decisions. The food is standard institutional food, but it’s OK. They could up their game a little bit on that. My mom participates in Bingo and she has some sort of therapy three times a week. They have kickball and bouncing balloons, which are basically a more fun form of physical therapy. There are art classes and dominoes."

"My mother is moving into Northaven Senior Living. You walk into a small foyer and the front desk where you have to check in on. They're very nice people, but it takes a bit of time to get a tour signed up. They have a beautiful dining room and a beautiful library. They have activities every day for the residents. They have more studios available. There is a wait list also. We have been on a waitlist for a couple of years now. And we will have our own studio, which has a full kitchen, a stove, a full-sized fridge and a new carpet. It's very clean and nice. Dinner is included, and the food is very good. I had a big-sized chicken salad, and it was very good."

"The tour experience at Emerald Heights is great. The facility was amazing. It was a gated community. It was high-class. They had a pool, a workout facility, and a great crafts room. Their apartments were amazing. They took us through all of their apartments and then their care units. So you buy in, and then you pay a monthly fee. The monthly fee stayed the same as long as you were there. And if, for some reason, you couldn't pay anymore, they had something where they would continue paying for your care because they had money in reserve for stuff like that happening in case people outlived their funds. It was an amazing facility with amazing grounds. The staff members were amazing and nice. The people we met were very nice, talkative, and friendly. We looked at the menu, and it was great."

"I went to the Merrill Gardens at Kirkland. I liked the fact that this was in a city. They were very good. They had a gym and a hair salon.They had activities. The staff did not follow up with me, but they were friendly. It's near shops and restaurants."

"I visited Ida Culver and thought it would be perfectly adequate. It was a lovely setting with lots of activities; they contacted me several times if I wanted to come down and attend. They were very nice, and it was easy to get to. The only grounds are an inside courtyard, which is gardened in a lovely way, and it would be a peaceful place to sit. You could walk to shops. They have in-house dining, and you can eat all your meals there."
