"Brookdale Monroe is close to our home and it's going pretty well for my mother-in-law. She has dementia so she's in the memory care unit, and they help her with bathing, using the bathroom, dressing, and everything else. The staff is nice and attentive. The place is clean and perfect for seniors. It's kind of bland and boring, but that's what they like."

"The reason I wouldn't go to Covenant Shores was that they charged over $5,000 if you needed nursing assistance. It was almost $5,500 a month, and I couldn't afford that. In the independent living, you buy your little apartment, and then you pay extra number of dollars for all of the facilities, usage, and diner every night. I was looking at a one-bedroom apartment with a fully built-in kitchen. I liked that it was close to Seattle, and I was not afraid of traffic. It was also close to the city where I live right now. They had almost every activity you want. They had a wood shop and a boat dock. They had a nursing facility on site -- almost a mini-hospital. They had their own bus that would take you shopping. It was a beautiful with lots of trees and green lawns with big walks. It was very nice. The food was excellent. Everybody was encouraged to exercise and eat right. Everybody was in good health. "

"We went to Arbor Village, and we really liked it. We would have had my mom at this place. It was absolutely beautiful, and if your parent was able to get around on their own, they had one unit that was for those people. They had another unit for people who couldn’t get around so much, and then they have PT on-site, which was really good for people if they would need that kind of service. And exercise facilities and all the stuff that you needed. It had huge rooms compared to everybody else, and for mom -- who wants to keep a lot of her stuff -- this was very important. Freshly painted, it’s a newer building, and the color was just really nice. The only thing that needs to be fixed a little is their food to make it more healthy. "

"Wonderful place! Caring and competent staff who go out of their way to make my father feel comfortable and welcome and safe. From chatting informally to checking medicines to providing activities and day trips to checking in with me about his needs, the Courtyard staff has been fabulous. Dad is very happy there, and we could not have made it through a difficult time without their kindness and support. He had a choice to move in with a family member, but he wanted to stay at Cristwood. He loves the community of people, and he especially enjoys the dining room and the meal selections."

"Emerald Height was very nice, big, and had a nice dining room where you could eat at any time. They had a swimming pool with classes, a fitness area with attendants, and a courtyard with a miniature railroad and lots of nice places to sit. The rooms and apartments were very nice and can be remodeled if somebody new moves in. The food was very good. It was well kept up, and the residents were involved in committees that made decisions. However, I don't care for the area since it's very far out, and I'm looking for something closer in."

"Merrill Gardens at Kirkland is rather upscale and more like a hotel than anything. They have a lot of planned activities. The people are going places all the time and doing things there. The food is fantastic. It's very comfortable and they have excellent staff. The building and the decor are fantastic. They have everything from studios to two-bedroom townhouses. Out of all the places I visited, they are the top. The price is expensive. I've been down there a couple of times and each time, I ended up talking to somebody different, and they were all well informed. The dining area looks like a restaurant. They serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and you order off of a menu."

"The Hearthstone is the one I have been looking at all my life as an adult. In comparison to the other facility, I think I'd rather be there. It is for profit, and it cost a little more. It has been there for a long time, and I have been looking at that one for most of my life. It is convenient to where I live now. It keeps me inside the city, and I'm not moving outside my comfort zone as far as where I live. The staffs are very nice. It is a first class outfit, and it is a wonderful place. "

"Merrill Gardens was clean, everyone was friendly, and the location was good. All of the apartments were too small, and my parents want more space. Even their two-bedroom unit was below 1,000 sq. ft. 1,200 would be better, but I can’t find any that size. The other thing I didn’t like was they didn't have a washer and dryer in the units. I only met the person who took me around, but she was very friendly, and the residents that I saw walking around were all very friendly. "

"This facility has a million dollar view of Lake Washington from the Madison Park area of Seattle. The individual apartments are beautiful and most with stunning views. The caregivers are very considerate and patient. We love the staff who provide top notch care...we have no complaints. The only drawback is trying to find parking in this neighborhood which is fairly typically for just about anywhere in Seattle. "

"Horizon House is very expensive; you have to pay I think $123,000 just to get in, and it’s no more monthly than it was at the other facility. I felt that the people they were all dressed like they were going to church or someplace wonderful, and I am not that kind of a person. I would give it a highest rate, but it’s just wasn’t my cup of tea. I would certainly recommend the place. As a matter of fact, I was just talking to somebody the other day and telling her how nice it was. I know a couple of people who lived there, and they loved it. "

"Visiting this facility is a pleasure which begins with the free valet parking under the downtown Seattle building. Of course, it is not free forever but the first hour is. My resident friend has been staying in the assisted living unit of the facility for several months after she had some medical issues and subsequently needed assistance with self care and safety. The nursing staff is fabulous and provides excellent timely care in a professional and friendly manner. The head nurse has always had answers to our questions and has been able to get us any adaptive equipment we needed quickly. "

"Crista Shores was a very pleasant place. I'm not ready to move there yet, but I was really happy to find out about it. The views were amazing. The people all looked happy there. The staff was very friendly, and thorough, and took a true interest in me. The facility is adjacent to trails and walking spaces and close to shopping, but there were no dedicated spaces per se for crafts or for people to pursue individual interests. The place seemed very clean and people were working hard to keep it well-kept. The gardens were beautiful."

"Merrill Gardens at Renton Centre is a very nice facility. Nothing's bad about it at all. It's just that downtown Renton is the one they're at, and the neighborhood is just getting a little bit challenging. Crime is higher in the area, and they're not flexible. They've got rigid rules. They will not accommodate things. My parents are not allowed to park their scooters down in their garage. So it's a big thing to do, carrying your stuff back upstairs into the elevator with limited mobility. It is a big hassle. The staff is nice. They're great and the food is really good. If it weren't for the fact that it's so big and they have to abide by very strict rules and Renton is the neighborhood that is not good anymore, it is a perfect place for my parents. Also, they've got all kinds of stuff. There are arts and crafts, and physical therapy, and they've enjoyed that."
