My sister and I loved Rocky Mountain Assisted Living-Lakewood. We liked that it was small. They only have 16 residents and 3 staff members were on site all the time. We met Melanie and she was wonderful. She answered all my questions. They do monthly staff meetings and updates. The other positive things were it's close to my house and about their security. I liked that they got double locked doors and you have to ring a bell. They didn't have any rooms available, so we walked down the corridor and peeked into the residents' rooms and from what we saw, we loved it. Their dining area was very nice. It was small, but adequate for the space.

My Dad was recently a three-day tenant of the Rocky Mountain Assisted Living facility at Quincy and Wadsworth. Long-time Alzheimer's sufferer, he was placed on the 10th of October, and passed away at the facility sometime in the early morning hours of October 13th. While we do not blame the facility for his death, we are questioning his treatment (and ours) in the hours AFTER. We were NEVER contacted by ANY staff at the home. We have no actual time of passing, as a coroner was not called to the home, and it was obvious by the time my brother found him on the camera inside his room and showed up at his room at 5:30am, that rigor mortis had already set in (which takes hours)...the time listed on the death certificate now appears to be the time paramedics were actually in attendance, and not the correct hour of his death, which we believe was sometime long before. A coroner was never called to the home. The entire day of his death none of us were contacted by the home - at all. Nor the day after that, nor the day after that. Their chosen form of communication is via TEXT. As stated, my brother found him on the floor, via a small video camera in his room, and called the home himself. Upon his arrival at the facility, my dad was completely bare (save for a diaper) on the floor (for at least an hour - probably more), completely uncovered. He covered Dad himself, with the comforter from his bed. The home is blaming the paramedics for not calling us (they did not), while RMAL were the ones charged with Dad's well being. We had been told they check rooms each hour during the night, which is evidently not the case. To add insult to injury, all bodily fluids from my dad were on his sheets, crumpled up and left in a large pile in the middle of the bed for us to remove and dispose of ourselves - none of this was bagged. This is considered Bio-Hazardous Human Waste by the state of Colorado, and yet, it was left to lay in a fully occupied facility for three days before we removed it ourselves. Just a modicum of decency and compassion would have gone a long way. PLEASE THINK CAREFULLY BEFORE LEAVING YOUR LOVED ONES TO THE CARE OF THIS FACILITY!

The rooms are clean, the food looks to be very good, the staff on site seems to be adequate but the upper management that runs this facility are extremely poorly trained in dealing with serious issues that come with any type of care facility. My father was a resident of this facility for only 3 days when he passed. Supposedly the staff was supposed to be checking on the residents every 2 hours throughout the nights. My father was found to be unresponsive early in the morning hours and the paramedics were called to the site. Upon arriving they placed my Dad upon the floor to administer any life saving efforts at which time they were informed that he had a DNR in place. There was nothing that could be done for him as he had expired sometime earlier in the night as was evident from the rigor mortis that had already set in to his body and he was in a stiff and contorted position. Upon leaving the facility the paramedics left my father lying on the floor and the staff at the facility also left him lying on the floor uncovered. I checked in on my father via a 2 way camera that we had installed at the facility with the approval of the management of the facility. When I noticed my Dad lying on the floor I immediately called this facility to let them know that my father had evidently gotten out of bed and had fallen. It was at this point that I was informed that my father had passed and that the paramedics, had been to and left the facility as there was nothing that could be done. After being told that my father had passed I immediately left home and travelled to the facility approximately 30 minutes away. Upon arriving at the facility I went to my Fathers room only to find him still on the floor completely uncovered except for a diaper he had on for his incontinence. The staff not only did not try to contact myself or my mother of my fathers passing, but they also failed to make any efforts to try to put my father back onto the bed which was also soiled with bodily fluids from his passing. They made no efforts to do anything that would be seen as a measure of compassion for someone who had passed nor did they take any measures to remove any soiled linens from the room. The upper management in charge of this facility made no attempts at contacting anyone to explain any of the actions of the employees of this facility only to later say that new policies would be put into place to prevent another such disastrous calamity of errors. Be extremely cautious of this facility and what they say they will do for your loved ones.

I love Rocky Mountain. Their staff is great. They're so nice to everybody. They know everybody's name and even the family's names when you go in. It is a smaller place, but it seems homey. I think that's what my mom likes so much about it. It is more like being in a home than in an assisted living place. She said that she feels really safe there. She really likes it. One Saturday they went to lunch somewhere, and she really liked that. They had the Police Academy folks come in and they played with these balloons, and they made these small crafts for Christmas. My mom seems to really enjoy those as she never really does craft things. I'm really impressed with them. If we need to send her back, that's where I would send her. She really enjoys most of the food; she said it is pretty good. They keep the place very nice. The girls are always cleaning, like I have seen them vacuuming my mom's room. They do a very nice job. One thing I really like is that it does not smell. The value is pretty good. They're expensivem, but then they have somebody there 24 hours a day watching them.

My uncle has been at Rocky Mountain Assisted Living at the West Quincy location since August of this year, the professionalism from workers has been has been very encouraging especially to the residents. Anything my uncle or I have asked from a glass of orange juice to helping him with his IPAD have been met enthusiastically. The place is extremely clean, the food is excellent, and again, the staff goes above & beyond the call of duty in the care of the residents.
