"My sister has moved into Vista Rosa. My first impression was good. It's very nice. They have a beauty salon, and they can get their nails done. The staff are very nice. They're very expensive. I think they're the most expensive place in San Luis Obispo."

"My mother is in The Villages. They try hard to keep all the people happy, but I think they can use a little more staff. The rooms and the apartments are very nice, and the food is good. The people are very nice and courteous. There are a lot of people there, and they are kind of doing numerous jobs. I think it will be nice if they have one person that is kind of in-charge and monitoring how the residents are going along. If they have like a social worker that can talk to them, not necessary be taking care of their immediate needs like medicine, dressing or that kind of thing, but just their psychological needs or they are just concerned. "

"Oak Park Manor graciously accepted and cared for my uncle in his last days. The staff and owner exceeded all of our expectations in giving him compassionate individualized care. We were so impressed by the staffs ability to gain his trust and provide for all of his needs and wants including a private room. My family and I enthusiastically recommend this facility and all of its providers. "

"Aunt Carol's Place gave seniors exceptional care, but unfortunately is scheduled to close on October 3, 2019. We had a wonderful 81-year-old who had problems with thyroid, bi-polar and dementia. She was living alone and was abusing her medicines.... taking 30 days of sleeping pills in a 14 day period. Aunt Carol's Place under the leadership of Cristina Wilson got her back on a stable platform with regard to her medicines and it made a world of difference. We were so very sad to learn the home was closing because the standard of care was exceptional. Cristina Wilson has a very big heart and cares so very deeply for her residents, that she sometimes took in people who could not pay, which caused an occasional cash flow problem. Cristina Wilson and her staff are among the very best and the world is hurting with the loss of this wonderful facility. "

"Two months ago, my husband and I moved in at Southbay Maxi Care. It's a small facility but everything is pretty good. The staff are really fine and they seem to do their best. The food is not wonderful, but it's alright. One thing that we don't like it here though is that we're not allowed to cook. We have a common microwave in the facility which everyone uses to reheat food. "

"My dad moved into Wyndham Residence. It’s very nice, very comfortable, and home like. It’s not like a fancy 5-star hotel and more like a home. The people at Wyndham Residence are above and beyond anything I’ve ever experienced before. They’re wonderful. The food is excellent and the chef actually makes a point of coming and asking my dad what he would like him to order from the supplier and how he would like it cooked."

"I'm enjoying Alder House. They take good care of me. There are many good caring workers here. They don't have anything beyond single rooms, but my room can accommodate all my furniture. They charge standard rate depending on the size of the room and not depending on the amount of care. They differ from other assisted living places. You pay a certain rate per month. It doesn't change except for a small change for inflation. That's an advantage here. I'm very satisfied with it. I have looked around to see if there are other things, and so far, it looks like I'm in a best place."

"Casa De Flores was very lovely, but it might not work for those with age-related memory loss because there are no gates around it. It appeared to be more of a retirement home rather than assisted living, although they do have that component. They have activity rooms and movies. It seemed more active for seniors without issues who are a little bit younger. They had a fireplace and social hour, so it's quite social and lovely for retirement living. The dining areas were lovely and attractive."

"Right now, my husband is in assisted living at Welcome Home Atascadero. It's a nice place. However, I don't know financially how long I can keep him there, but he has settled down. It was tough for him in the beginning because he kept calling me and asking me when I would get him, but overall things are pretty good. It is as good as it can be expected. The place is not very big, so I think they are all together, both assisted living and memory care. Everybody is very friendly. They give a lot of attention to the people. My husband is always clean. He eats, and he likes the food. I don't think I could find something much better. Everybody knows my name from the very beginning, and they always greet me and say hi and ask how things are going, so they are very nice. As far as I'm seeing, it's spotless too. I ate lunch with my husband twice. It wasn't a five-star restaurant, but it was very good. About activities, my husband is absolutely not interested in any kind of activity. He does not participate in anything. Nevertheless, they have activities every day."

"Garden House is a nice place. It has Alzheimer's care. It's for people who are in wheelchairs and bed-bound. It's a different type of facility. The staff is very nice, very friendly, and very good to the people. "

"The Ingleside team is taking great care of my mom. She has alzheimers which is advancing, but she is happy there as "the people are nice, the food is good, and they keep me busy." The facility is clean and the food is the best I've seen at the several facilities she's lived in. I highly recommend this faciity for a loved one with memory care needs. "

"They have individual cottages at Atascadero Christian Community for independent living. When you can’t stay there, they have assisted living. We have seen this in person because we have friends who live there, and when we visited the couple for the first time, they were in a two-bedroom, two-bath with a little kitchenette, a living room, and even a garage for their car. I don’t know if all of the units have that or not, but this particular one did. Now, she’s in assisted living, and it’s supposed to be a living room and bedroom, but they’re using both rooms as a bedroom. It’s still comfortable, except that they have to eat all of their meals over in the dining room because they can’t really do as much cooking in this new room; they onlyt have a hotplate and microwave now. Every one of the staff members that I came across was very nice, very polite, and very helpful. "

"My mother was in a smaller facility which wasn't working out so when we found Park Place and met the owner and administrator we knew right away we had found the perfect fit. She had a beautiful large private room and was allowed to keep her dog there. So far we have no complaints about the staff or the meals. Park Place rates an A+ in my book."

"We were very fortunate to have chosen the Garden View Inn for my mother. She has been there several years, and we continue to be impressed with the compassionate, polite and attentive staff. The owner and her husband have a genuine affection for the residents and are always concerned about doing what is in the best interests of the residents. They have made many physical modifications to the bedroom to help my mother access what she needs. Staff have been very alert to health changes and always keep us informed of any that they see. The residents enjoy meals at the homelike dining room table, TV in one of the common areas, and a quieter common area for puzzles and knitting. Views from the GVI are very pretty rolling hills and oaks. My mother likes to walk on the outdoor ramp and down to the beautiful shaded patio area where she delights in sitting and watching the animals. With the Covid-19 lockdown requirement, the owner has been very helpful with setting up video-chats and sending photos. We are also very impressed with the safety measures the Garden View Inn has implemented during this very difficult time."
