"My friend went to a small facility called The Park Grove - San Luis Obispo. It was a 6-bed facility, and they were fantastic. Their assessment was excellent, and the care was above and beyond. It made her final days as comfortable as could possibly be made. A couple works there and runs the place, and I can't give them high enough regards. They were just so accommodating and so organized. They said if there was no news, it was good news, and if there was news, then they would text me. They had great communication skills and just fabulous. Everything about the facility was fantastic. They cook, and they do it all. They were just so dedicated. It made her transition as peaceful as possible. I went to four facilities in person and did a virtual tour of one, so a total of five, and Park Grove was the least expensive and had the most personal one-on-one care. I had such a good feeling from the owners that it was the best place for her that I could find."

"The facility was clean and the meals were wonderful and on time. The staff was professional. The rooms offered variety as far as living conditions and they were well furnished. The doctors and nurses were available. The medications were given as ordered. The garden area was well kept. The television was not too loud or on too long. The activities were well planned. This is a place that I would not be worried about placing one of my own family members. They are very nice to visitors and willing to answer questions. The location is quiet and peaceful, yet close enough to down town, the hospital and shopping. The residents were well cared for in my opinion. I also liked the fact that it was not too large. This way it was not noisy and the residents were not overwhelming for the staff. They did not loose items that belonged to the residents. "

"I visited Vista Rosa for my friend. That is the cream of the crop, but it was also very expensive. They have the best activities. It was the Cadillac of senior living, and for the right person that also would be a fabulous place. For a single room it's $8,500- $9,000 a month. I was able to see things through the walkway inside and looked in the window to see the rooms. They had a very nice staff, first rate food, and pretty exceptional facilities. Right at the base of San Luis Mountain it is just impeccable in terms of location. It was like a five-star resort, if I could be so bold. Everybody in the staff of that establishment was just amazing."

"We're going to The Villages of San Luis Obispo. They're very nice and it's a very open place, which was why I picked it. Every part of it goes outside. It has a beautiful pool and a hot tub and there's a fireplace out in the courtyard that is very open like in a nice hotel. It was very lovely. The dining room was very good, but they're upgrading it. They've got a lot of things to do, all kinds of activities, and they also have aerobics. "

"Villa Care took wonderful care of my Mom for years until her passing at 105yrs. They work well with Doctors & other health agencies. My Mom level of care change since she had dementia, it was not a problem for them, very professional, & caring, patient & kind to my mother."

"Villa Care Home I was good and we didn't have any problems. The staff was very nice and pleasant. The dining room only had a kitchen table. It was average."

"The owner of Janelle's RCFE was very thorough. She examined my husband, she visited with him, and they struck up a nice relationship. She has three other people there, so it's a small facility. It's very clean and festive for Christmas. My husband will have a private room with a bathroom. It's just a nice little homey place, nothing big or fancy or anything like that. It's cozy."

"Zeny's RCFE #1 is an end-of-life place and not a place you'd go if you're sound of mind or if you're social. The living space is very small, and it's like they bought a house from the 60s that hasn't been updated since. They haven't put money into the house other than to maintain what's already there. I'd never recommend it for anybody who still had their mobility or cognitive behavior. Everything was really small and dark. The folks who were already there were quiet in mind. The person who toured us around was very nice, generous with his time and answered our questions."

"Our friend has been in Merrill Gardens at Santa Maria since the 25th of June. They have several buildings, and she is in 1350. I have nothing but good comments about the staff and the facility. The staff is excellent, the facility is very nice, the food is very good, and the people are very caring. The room that my friend has is very comfortable and larger than most that we checked in the area, and the price is a good value. She has a one-bedroom apartment, and it has a complete kitchen with a regular stove and a refrigerator; however, she doesn't plan to cook. All meals are included. and they can eat anytime they want from 7:00 to 7:00. It's the best of all worlds. She has a 700 square foot apartment. and it has one bedroom and one bath. The dining room is lovely. They have all sorts of activities. They have outings where they take them on little bus tours for the day with boxed lunches. They take them to plays, their medical appointments if they need to be taken, and to shopping places. They have a happy hour on Friday night and barbecues on the 4th of July or Memorial Day -- they seem to celebrate every holiday. "

"Two months ago, my husband and I moved in at Southbay Maxi Care. It's a small facility but everything is pretty good. The staff are really fine and they seem to do their best. The food is not wonderful, but it's alright. One thing that we don't like it here though is that we're not allowed to cook. We have a common microwave in the facility which everyone uses to reheat food. "

"My mother is at Hillview Residence. My friend's parents are there as well, so they're very good. Hopefully, she's gonna be short-term, so she can go back home. It's been family-owned for over 35 years and they're local. The owners live down the street from me and I didn't know that. The staff has been there long-term as well, and they're all very friendly, very detailed, precise, and caring. They have two dining rooms and they looked nice. Her room is nice. So far, so good. Everything looks nice and clean. They have activities every day during the week like music, crafts or bingo. She's only been there a couple of days. So far, everybody is very good. The facility is very nice. They have a very nice outdoor area. They're doing good so far."

"I really liked everything about Magnolia, from the homey feel of it to the way that they treated the people to the rooms. However, my father is not ready to go into a retirement home yet. He was way sharper than anybody in there. If there would've been other people more at his level, it would've been different, but we're just not there yet. The dining room had a homey feel. The general atmosphere was great. They had outside activities and a little garden place where they could do gardening. They were doing activities inside to help with memory at the time I was there. "
