In addition to warm weather and sunny beaches, Los Angeles offers its senior citizens many useful programs and services, including family caregiver support, home modification help and even an online TV show based on aging well in L.A. With nearly 450,000 citizens aged 65 or older, and an expected elderly population increase within the county of 172 percent over the next 40 years, Los Angeles is ideal for seniors with creative interests, such as film, music or art. The Creative Capital of the World is home to more museums per capita than any other city across the globe, and many offer seniors discounted tickets. The comfortable climate also means walking around town is enjoyable, even during the summer months.
To help seniors discover the most senior-friendly locations around the country, Caring.com conducted a new study, “The Best and Worst Places for Senior Living.” The Caring Senior Living Report analyzes and ranks 300 cities and 50 states on the quality of senior living in that area. The cities were graded using 46 metrics across five categories: Health Care, Senior Living & Housing, Affordability, Quality of life, and Transportation.
