We visited the independent living community of Provincial Chico, and my friend is going to be moving there. He will be in a very large studio on the ground floor that has a back porch and a fenced-in area that's very nice. We were originally looking at the 1-bedroom apartment, but with him not having income anymore, that was gonna be a little stiff, so we opted for a little bit cheaper room that is still a good size. It has a great backyard area, and he has his own entrance, so if he didn't want to walk through the whole building, because he's on the ground floor, he has his own entrance to his door through his patio, which is nice. The person who helped us through all of this was over-the-top accommodating. The staff members did an incredible job showing us the place and giving us the tour. They showed us the outside grounds, the dog run, and the covered seating for people to sit so they'll be shaded. The whole thing is set up very nicely. They also just redid that whole place last year, and they fixed it up nicely. We stayed for lunch, and the food was good. I even ate my dessert and my vegetables. We also had salmon, and I was surprised that it was not fishy tasting. I don't know if they have a chef, but it was really good. I also heard of them dealing with a sort of cantankerous client, and they did excellently. By the time they were done, the client was less angry, so it just went well. I was impressed all the way around. Honestly, this place was a breath of fresh air. I've been to other care homes and other retirement homes that did not feel this open and fresh. The day that I went to tour it, they had some miniature Highland cows that were out on the front lawn, and everybody was out there petting them and loving on them. I just really like their sense of community; it's really good.

I'm now at Provincial Chico. They're attentive. With regard to food, they have a large selection at every meal. No complaints about the cooking. There are tons of fruits, which I love. Salad is always available. I tend to cook more vegetables, and they offer them here. Overall, it's very good. I love Amanda, she's our chef, and she does a great job. She puts her heart into it. She cares and that shows. They overhauled the whole place. Everything I've seen is freshly painted and clean. Window coverings are working and clean. They do light housekeeping once a week. Vacuuming is appreciated, and I pretty much do the rest. But it's very pleasant and very nice. The staff is available. Generally, you can talk to anyone pretty quickly, and they respond to whatever it is. In terms of activities, they bring in some good music, which is very nice. They always have piano playing, guitar playing, and singing. I think there's a lot of effort put into the activities.

My sister moved here. I liked everything. They offer so much for the price that she can't go wrong. They offer so much with the three meals a day and rides to doctors' appointments if she needs them. They have a game room, a movie room, and all kinds of things. There are kitchenettes in each room, however, there is a kitchen upstairs if they need to use a stove for any reason. Everybody that we've talked to and dealt with has been great. Her apartment, they're going to remodel it, but even after a remodel they're keeping it very clean and neat. They had somebody playing the piano right by the entrance, and the people were sitting all around it. We stood there and watched and listened for a little while. It was absolutely beautiful. They have a dog park that's fenced off, and you can have your dogs there. They have a garden area that they plot off to do. They have trails right along the building. We saw people walking on the trail with their walkers. It's just a win-win all the way.

There's a couple of options on the table right now, but I think this one is the best bet personally. They're first on the list as far as I'm concerned. They gave us a plate of food and it was delicious. We met the chef, too. And I want to give Alfred credit. He was fantastic, he answered any of our questions, and he was very polite. In this day and age, I've just never met a nicer person that was willing to help. He showed us a game room where they had cornhole. There was a class and a piano in there. He showed us two different types of rooms, and he did a thorough job. He wasn't lacking in any way, shape, or form. The guy was tremendous. I am 110 percent satisfied. The people were very polite. It was under construction, but I could tell that it was a very, very nice, clean place. It was very accommodating for what my sister's needs are.

They evaluated my wife, and they determined that they were not able to take care of her. She required too much care for them. But I was very impressed with that place. It was big, beautiful and new. The dining area was beautiful. The rooms were like apartments. They had their own kitchens and bathrooms. It's a beautiful place. It seemed like the price was very good. I was looking forward to my wife going there. It was a nice place. The staff who toured me was very nice. The apartments were large-bedroom apartments. They were going to have some kind of a movie play or something and they were setting up for that, and that looked cool and neat. I was favorably impressed. I was hoping she would go there.
