"I went to Atria Rocklin. I think they're all very expensive, but it's very nice. The rooms were very nice and good sized. I have nothing bad to say about it. The employees were very nice. They didn't have a gym, if you want to do a little workout. They do group workouts, but I know my grandfather wouldn't do that. They definitely had a courtyard or two. Their cleanliness was perfect. It's less than 2 miles from my house. It's not too far from the hospital, within 10 miles."

"Ansel Park Independent Living was very nice. I walked in and saw my name welcoming me there for the tour. The lady that showed me around was most informative about the amenities. The atmosphere of the place was good. They have the meals, transportation, and housekeeping. While they didn't have a washer and dryer in the room, they do have a hookup so you could bring your own. They got an informal dining area and they got the main dining room, which was set up just like a restaurant. It's a big room with tables for four, and it was very well done. They got the exercise room and the theater. They had a class going on in the fitness room. Otherwise, it's pretty quiet. The grounds were good. It's got a nice setting. It's got the wetlands behind it. It's more of a country atmosphere. There's a lot of open lands, although they're going to build medical offices across the street from their place. The other staff I met in passing said good morning and whatnot."

"Dad and his wife have been residents of Eskaton Lodge Granite Bay for eight years. The family has jokingly said the Eskaton is a cruise ship that never leaves port. All their needs have been met and exceeded. They were told from the start that they were to treat it like home. To them it has indeed been their home since day one. The staff has become like family. Their kindness and empathy made the transition from independent to assisted living easy for them. The availability of transportation made it possible for Dad to get where he wanted to go after he could no longer drive. Dad’s garden and birdfeeders were his pride and joy. They are right outside the dining room for all the residents to enjoy. Eskaton never said he could not have them but encouraged it instead. I cannot say enough about the wonderful staff in all areas of the facility. They know each resident by their first name and are committed to making their time there a very nurturing one. They know exactly what they want for breakfast or if they drink decaf, how they want “their” bed made, and what their families are doing. The list of their kindnesses is limitless. They are truly angels. We have always felt very secure in knowing that Dad and Jean were in the caring arms of Kim Delgado and her remarkable staff. "

"We toured Sequoia Grove Gracious Retirement Living. I felt like they were selling me a timeshare. The lady explained it and she's the salesperson. She said they're a corporation, and once the facility is at 92% full, she's out of there and moves on to the next one. The administration there was very nice and she sat down and talked with us for a long time about things I like. She showed us 4 or 5 different floor plans and that was nice. And the dining room is fabulous. It has white tablecloths, white cloth napkins, and tall water glasses. And I said, wow, I feel like I've got to get dressed up to come down here and eat. And she said, "No, no, no. We just don't want pajamas and slippers and all that". But I thought it seemed like they spent more money in the dining room than needed. They didn't have a pet fee or a community fee, which is nice. You can have a vehicle, it's no charge, and internet, cable, and all that wi-fi are included, but the rooms, the one-bedroom I looked at that was on the internet for $3,795 was $5,100. And I said, what happened to $3,795 and she said, well, those are other floor plans and we can show you some. They didn't all have balconies. Some of them were just a French door out to a little cement patio. It was very high-end, very expensive, and everything was beautiful. They have a nice, authentic theater. We spoke to a few residents and they were very displeased with the administration. One of the residents pointed in the direction of the lady who was touring us. The lady wasn't there with us that time, but she said "That administration, I don't like them. " For example, she said, I had a Christmas wreath on my door and they complained about it and said I had to take it down. The week before that, they had a contest on door decorations. It could've been that she doesn't get along with them. We just had that one opinion, but that was before we got the tour. And by the time the tour was over, I looked at my daughter and she looked at me. I said I could see what that lady was talking about. They're very pushy. I can't tell you how many times she said, so which one are you comfortable in? And then she's telling me that she can make a deal. She said now, if you don't see me, next time you come in here, you won't get a deal because I can tinker with the prices. I can give you a couple of months, three months, I think she said, or $1,000 off. She was going to make deals like freezing your rent for two years and saying, I can give discounts on things. And she said, but when I'm gone after it's 92% full you won't get those discounts. And she kept saying, if you see one you like, put $100 on it. We'll keep an eye on it. She didn't want me to leave without getting some money from me, and that to me was like a timeshare thing. She was very friendly and very nice, and she wasn't rude or anything, just a little aggressive and pushy."

"My father has lived here for four months now. I work from his room, so I know what goes on every day, Monday - Friday. The care staff is always very friendly and cheerful. They seem to have a sincere concern about my dad’s well being. They are patient and kind. The management was very thorough and understanding when I visited. The food is restaurant-style excellent! My dad and I are both very pleased with our choice to have him live here. He told me the other day, “I’m pretty well cared for!” I’m so glad we both feel he is in a safe and happy home. I would recommend this place to all who have a parent/relative that means the world to you! They are in good hands at WellQuest of Granite Bay!"

"Eskaton was near our house, and my husband stayed there for one night. It was nice, very clean, and very well-lit. They had WiFi, and my husband had his own laptop in his room. They invited us for dinner, and the food was very good. It was well-proportioned, tasty, and nicely presented. The kitchen staff even chatted with people if they had time. The staff was very sweet and accommodating. However, my husband had a dog, and he didn't want to walk the dog enough. Every time he left the dog in the room, the dog would howl, and it was annoying to the nearby people. Fortunately, he opted on his own to come home. "

"The facilities at The Terraces of Roseville were a little dated. The parking lot itself was old and the surface was uneven. It was also crowded and small. I had to walk a long distance from my parking spot to get to the front of the facility. They did not have enough ramps to gain access to the building either. They had a variety of rooms, but they were smaller. They did not have a swimming pool, and that was something I wanted. It was less than ideal, but the staff was OK."

"I visited here, and everybody seemed friendly. The location was good -- it's on a busy street, so it's accessible to buses, but not close enough to stores to the point she could walk to them. They had some card games and arts and crafts, and the people that live there dress nicely for lunch. The staff were very friendly, very persistent, and fully informed. "

"Creekside Oaks is wonderful. It is being updated currently. Everyone is getting their own washer and dryer, so that's pretty neat. Their dining room is very nice. They have tons of activities for their residents. They also have great walking trails. As a community, it is a wonderful place, and the staff is excellent; however, it is out of my budget."

"I am looking at choosing Blossom Vale Senior Living for my parents. It was an excellent place. Natalie was the one that toured us, and she was very good at her job. She could answer all the questions. And also, my in-laws are moving in there as well, so it worked out well. We went back with my in-laws and we had dinner there, and it was really good. We started with a studio. It was an extra large studio with a separate bedroom. So, that was nice. We saw the one-bedroom apartment and it was a very nice size, and then the two-bedroom was like a small apartment. It was very nice. They had the pull cords and they had small kitchens, but with everything in it. The courtyard was very pretty. The dining facility was very nice. They had a beauty salon, a theater, and a library. They had special events, like every Tuesday, they have Taco Tuesday and margaritas. It just makes it fun for the residents."

"My husband will be moving into Oakmont of Westpark memory care. The whole atmosphere was very nice, and the people were very nice. We picked a room that he was happy with. I took him there on a tour after touring it myself and he liked it. The gardens are beautiful, and there are activities. I'm not sure how much my husband's going to participate because he has dementia. I brought other family members with us. There were four of us, and they treated us to lunch in their dining room. It was like eating in a 5-star restaurant. It was very nice. We had menus. We all had different things, and everyone was very pleased with their meals and with the service. We had a very nice waiter and like I said, it was like being in a very nice restaurant. It's a beautiful facility. They have a salon there. My husband needs a lot of care. He needs help with dressing and help with a lot of physical things and that's what's most important to me."

"El Dorado Estates is fabulous. It's brand new and my mother loves it. It has a nice layout. She has a studio and it's perfect sized. Everything is perfect. She has a balcony and it's great. Everyone there is so nice. The food is really good, but their meals have times and you can't just go in when you want to eat breakfast. You have to get there at 8:00 and she doesn't make it for breakfast very often. Their lunchtime is at 12:30, which is their big meal, and supper is 5:30. She has a little kitchen with a full size refrigerator and microwave. She likes playing games like bingo, Mexican train, and beanbag baseball. They have church services, a movie theater, and a bus and they have scheduled outings a couple of times a week. They'll take you to doctors and dentists and to the casino. It's spotless, too. It's good value compared to the other ones and a little bit less expensive."

They don't have large grounds because it's in separate buildings, but otherwise, it's very nice. The menu was adequate, and it looked good to me. The rooms were very nice.
