"We toured Atria Rocklin. We liked it. It was very nice, but it was also too far away. The garage was a plus, but the rooms were not as big as I would have liked. I tasted the food, and it was OK - nothing to write home about. The staff were very nice. It was clean, they had lots of activities, and it was just a nice, homey place."

"Eskaton Granite Bay is a very nice facility. We toured for independent living. We ate there and their food was very good. They did not have activities going on at the time because it was meal time, but we talked with their activities director and saw some of the things that they do there. The person was very enthusiastic. The rooms we saw were a nice size, and everything was very clean and very updated."

"I will move into Sequoia Grove Gracious Retirement Living. It's new, very bright, and cheerful, and the apartments were good size. The staff was very friendly. I met some of the residents, and they, too, were very friendly. I had a meal there, and the food was good. I liked the fact that they have their meals at regular times."

"We toured Roseville Commons. My overall experience was excellent. We spoke with Drew. He was the one who took us on a tour. He was very informative, very friendly, and warm. The experience was great. I talked about it for probably the rest of the day because I like the floor plans, and I like some of the things they have there. I enjoyed it. That was my favorite. I checked the dining area and the menu. They gave us a packet with all the information and prices, the calendar and events, and the usual stuff that they give. I liked their activities. I liked the layout of the whole facility. It was warm and friendly. I like everything about the floor plan and the room. I was interested in the one-bedroom. I do have animals, and there was no problem with them accepting the animals. They even have one on the ground floor that I'm particularly interested in that has a little backyard with a grassy area that you can put a little fence around. The one-bedroom was spacious. It has a full kitchen and a little kitchen bar where you can eat, and a nice big living room. The cable and wi-fi were included, and it was very reasonable. I enjoyed that place."

"My friend moved to WellQuest of Granite Bay. We chose it because of the amenities and the newness of the place. It's only 2 or 3 years old. Her apartment is spacious for a studio. My friend shared with us that she likes the food. The facility is very clean. The staff is very efficient from the moving coordinator to the marketing director. Their base rate was good. We were pleased with it."

"We toured Truewood by Merrill, Roseville. There wasn't anything that we didn't care for. Julie, who took us around, was so helpful, and just her attitude towards the staff and the residents, I could tell there was a definite concern. She wanted to make them comfortable and meet all their needs as well as ours, and she showed us properties that might work well for them. She also took us on a tour of all the things that were available there. The dining hall was very nice, and the staff who served us were very nice. The food was good too, and it's a beautiful area. The apartments were very nice. She showed us one that had just been renovated. It was spacious. She said that for the one bathroom, there was a glass shower door, and they would change that out to a curtain so my sister-in-law could go in without stepping over a threshold. It was all very nice."

"I toured Carlton Senior Living in Orangevale. I liked the rooms, and they have pre-memory care. What stood out to me was that if there's an emergency and you need to move in right away, they can pull together furniture if needed. So, they were very helpful. The tour was nice. I felt like it was very quaint to me. It seemed less busy, which was nice, but maybe people were sleeping depending on the time of day, which was nice too. I appreciate the willingness to help if things need to happen fast. The staff was wonderful and answered all the questions that I had as far as visitation, things like that. Everyone's really good. The kitchen area was nice. I thought it was very clean. Maybe everyone was doing laundry, and nothing was out of place."

"I'm so grateful we found Friendly Care Home 2. Camelia and the staff are outstanding. Mom, who had dementia, and Dad, who had diabetes, were challenged in 2022 to find a home where they could be together and receive the care they each required. Each had a spacious private room to sleep in; however, during the day, they sat together in my dad's room with side-by-side recliners. The experienced staff met their needs with kindness and respect until their passing, making my parents feel comfortable and well-cared for. The same attention is given at mealtime. Each is thoughtfully prepared with fresh, nutritious ingredients to meet resident's needs. Fresh-baked bread was Dad's favorite! For anyone looking for quality care, excellent communication, and a safe, nurturing environment for their loved ones, I highly recommend Friendly Care Home 2."

"I moved to El Dorado Estates Gracious Retirement Living, and I like this place. I like that I have my own private little apartment that has a nice little patio, so I can get fresh air. I have a one-bedroom, and it's plenty of room. I was surprised at how I got my furniture to fit so well. It has a lot of storage. I get three meals a day, and they even have soft-serve ice cream I can get at any time. The residents and the staff are also very friendly. Sometimes the food is really good, but sometimes it's not. I don't like everything, but it's good food, and it is healthy. They also have a good variety, and you can choose what you want to eat. The place has just been redone, and it's beautiful. It's very clean, and the grounds are well-kept and well-maintained. It is decorated very nicely. They have games like Bingo, chair volleyball, and Mexican Train. They have arts and crafts and all kinds of activities. They have a movie theater with a different movie every day that they show twice a day."

"My brother moved to Ponte Palmero. Everything is well-maintained. Everything is clean. The staff is incredibly friendly. The amenities for the people that live there are very up-to-date with a nice little workout room. They have a pool. They have a hot tub. They have a lot of activities going on regularly. They support community involvement and people getting out and getting to know each other. They're just very well managed and well cared for facilities for all levels. The food is very good. The dining area is excellent. It's a nice facility. It's probably the nicest one that I've seen."

"The Revel Folsom is very attractive. It's built around a large open courtyard that surrounds an oak grove. There are a lot of patio areas. There's a variety of different apartments available from studio to two-bedroom-two bath. The food is delicious. There is an indoor saltwater pool. There's water aerobics, water walking, a bocce ball court, and walking groups. There is a nice area for walking. It's close to restaurants, retail shopping, and grocery shopping, too. The staff are very friendly, very accommodating, and very helpful. I haven't gotten super involved in activities, but I know they're available."

"We went to look at Gold Country Senior Living. I don't think there was anything we really disliked. The gal who took us for our tour could not have been nicer. I know that they're doing a big remodel. It was very warm and felt friendly. The dining room was beautiful. My mom and I said it felt almost like we were on a cruise ship in the dining room. They had a nice menu as if you were at a restaurant. The places were super cute, like the little rooms that you rent out. They have upgrades if you wanted different colored cabinets or things like that for no extra charge. It was just a very nice place and everything's covered. So if you're going from your building to the dining room, it's covered. You're not walking outside if it's raining or something like that. There are tons of activities. We had lunch there, and the food was wonderful. I would want to live there. Once a week, they have housekeeping. All three meals are provided. It is super close to where I am."

"I visited Hilltop Commons, an independent living community in Grass Valley, and it was just beautiful. I could not give one negative memory. Nothing jumped out at me as dysfunctional. Everything felt harmonious, well-run, and well-thought-out. I also thought it was cute that the residents were doing this volleyball game with a big balloon in their wheelchairs and stuff. Everything was just lovely. My friend and I also had lunch there, and it was pleasant. I thought it was wonderful."

"When you entered the large structure of Eskaton Village Placerville, you could see that off to one side was memory care. So, they had a long, large rectangular corridor that kept them from getting to the outside. The rest of the building had all the units and the people were able to flow from the library area, the craft area, and the exercise areas to their cafeteria. And there was a grand piano which I seated my mother at and she was terrific. Even with Alzheimer's, she can read the notes even though the short-term memory is virtually gone. The reason that we probably will reject it is that although there was an outdoor courtyard in the middle of the memory care, my mom will not be able to access it on her own. I think that they only were allowed to go out there with an aide. If that were to change, we'd probably take her there. We visited them twice and they're lovely, and they had 2 different dining areas. My husband had set up someone for that day. He was unable to go, but I succeeded in persuading Mom to go in with me. Mom played the piano while we were waiting for the staff to be free. And then they found an empty room and showed us the very small closets that were not built in, but with enormous bathrooms that would facilitate wheelchairs and an aide. My mom would be safe there and it was close to Marshall Hospital. The staff who assisted us was lovely."

"I looked at Atria Grass Valley just recently and toured for independent living. The grounds are well taken care of, and it's a very pleasant place. The woman who did the tour is just fabulous, so I was very impressed with it. I wasn't impressed with some of the people who were standing in the lobby, though. There was a group of people, three older women, standing together and glaring at me. It was the weirdest feeling, and I'm very sensitive and can feel vibes. Other than that, the facility looked good and was well taken care of. The living rooms with the couches were very nicely done, too. They look very comfortable and inviting. It's truly a lovely place."

"I toured the assisted living at Eskaton Village Grass Valley. While we were there they were doing some major repairs, like repaving the parking lot and the surrounding streets, so getting in and out was chaotic. Other than that, the people were nice. We walked by the dining hall, and I didn't see any rats running out or anything like that. I'm sure they meet health standards and everything else. They showed us their model room that has two different rooms. Since Mom can't sleep in a bed, she has to sleep in a La-Z-Boy or in a chair, so the requirement of having a bedroom and a bed and everything else was superfluous to us. However, I didn't see any major problems with it. They offer a lot of facilities, which cater to the people in their 60s and would want all the amenities like swimming, books, and all the rest of that jazz. However, it was not conducive for a person who is in their late 90s. The staff members I dealt with were nice."

"My cousin is moving into Winding Commons. The adult living there would seem to suit our needs. The people are very nice. The floor plans were the big push. It also is close to her doctor in Mercy San Juan. So that was another big draw. It was within our price range, so this worked out well. I've only met about three of the staff. Hillary was just wonderful and so is Christine. We saw a lot of the menus. We were able to see some of the residents, too, and they were very thrilled with the food. It's close to a market so they can buy food. If she wanted to buy food and cook her own in her kitchenette that was an option. The square footage of the room made sense. She had ample square space for her living room and her bedroom, plus a patio. It's also on the first floor. My cousin has a dog, so that was important. We were able to go to an end unit, which was another plus. She can go out and take the dog out through the exit which was just right on the end of the unit, which is kind of nice. They have a monthly calendar of all the activities. You could pick and choose whatever you wanted to do or nothing. So that's kind of nice. They could take them back and forth to the store or over to their appointments, dentists, and physicians. And that was another big draw, too. All she had to do was to sign up. They had a nice bit of a theater there, a library, and a big computer room with several computers in there. The washer and dryer units were close, just right down the hall in each area. They also had a maid that came in twice a week if you wanted them to do laundry for your bedding, towels, and the heavy stuff. So that was another nice feature."
