Not So Happy Client

California Park was newer and very clean. The rooms were very big and had windows that looked out on a landscape and a lake. They have good, highly rated people rehabilitating them and taking them out. That’s what I was looking for for Mom.

My mother came to California Park Rehab after a fall while living in her senior housing apartment. I asked my daughter, a CNA at the local hospital as well as many others, where my mom should go for short term rehab, and California Park Rehab always was praised. My mom's stay became longterm after it was determined that she couldn't safely move back home. I could not have asked for a more wonderful place for my mom to live. The facility was in a great area, near a lake to take my mom in her wheelchair to visit the ducks, and the building was newer, light and inviting, and had a very nice inner courtyard. Most importantly, her personal care by all the staff was excellent! My family and I came at different times of the day and the staff felt like extended family after awhile. The housekeeping staff kept the building very clean and there was never that smell that other places seem to have. The aides were absolutely the best! Trust me, they truly lovingly cared for my mom. The nursing staff were great. From the therapists, kitchen, activities, hairdresser, housekeeping, to the administrative staff, I was very, very pleased. The administrative staff communicated with me often and I felt they really up to the moment informed on my mom's health situation. Only a few times did I find a staff member less "bedside friendly" so to speak. They hired people who were not only competent, but customer friendly! My mom passed away after living at California Park Rehab a long time. Throughout her stay, her care and the service of the staff was wonderful! My mom was a sweet person, even in ill health, but I watched the staff care for many different personalities and situations, and they always stayed upbeat and positive. The food was good (even I ate there at times). They had singers, musicians, activities and holiday celebrations! My mom thrived in this environment and I can rest knowing she was given the best life in her situation!
